  1. In my opinion, for Skyland, since the watch case has a lot of straight edges, it would be nice to have leather strap made that has similar shape and softness as the OEM rubber straps. I use to own two Skyland (one v2 and one v3), the only strap worked for me is my custom built one (see picture below). I'm not trying to sell you anything, just my opinion. The OEM straps are ok, not spectacular on Skyland mainly because it's a sportier watch and the OEM straps are more for a dressy kind of watches (like the BCE) with more round angles (IMHO only).

  2. Not at all. I bought a pair for my BCE about several month ago. I expected the color to be more light brown, but it came in like little greenish brown. It's hard to discribe it. I ended up give it away to a friend of mine sells watches. He still has it now. It's definitely nothing like what they showed on their auction page. However, I do like their faux gator dark brown straps for my SA.

  3. Here is a kinda boring, crappy picture I took of the SOH today with my iPhone.

For some reason the dial looks darker in the picture than real life. In real life, under normal light, the dial is actually a shade lighter than the bezel... it's almost kind of brown. The date is slightly off centered in the date window (the picture show it's more off centered, it's not, just the camera angle). This is because I used a older serviced ETA 2824-2 movement. I think if I buy a new movement with date at 6, the problem should go away. It's not enough to bother me to replacement the movement right now. I will worry about it when I need to have the movement serviced again in the future.

Thanks Bikemike for doing such awesome job putting it together!

  4. This is mine with gen dial. I was lucky and bought this from here. If you have to replace the movement, why not a gen ETA 7750? However, if what you have is a Navi Tricompax, then I'm not so sure if gen dial will fit.

Speaking of AR. Does gen Navi of this vintage have AR on the crystal, Gents?

  5. a great reference thread as i mod my v1 Fighter...

    a couple questions...

    1) did you ever file down the lug horns?...(hesitant to do so, but would make a difference)...

    2) is the gen black dial a matte, gloss or semi-gloss finish?...

    3) how much of a gen dial needs to be shaved down to fit in this case?...(the answer is probably in Pete's thread)...even tho gen dials are works of art - it seems that without a gen slide rule, its still just a hybrid...does the gen slide rule fit into these cases?...could be a moot point, as it seems that finding a gen slide rule is tough...

    thanks, Gents... :drinks:

    2) The gen dial on mine looks matt.

    3) I still see a little bit of slide rule markings on the gen dial once it's installed into the case with rep slide rule.

  6. Thank you guys for the input!

I stock couple gen Breitling dw and a Lello dw, so I'm good there (great to keep spares). I will keep the watch polished then. The current hands are somewhat damaged, especially the running second hand. They will have to go. I'm going to order some rep hands very soon. Unfortunately, no gen hands available. Tricompax caseback is an interesting idea. I will try to source one. I will check with Mike and see what he recommends on the crown.

Now I just need to get a gen ETA movt on the cheap :)

  7. Guys,

As you know, I just recently acquired a Navitimer Serie Special watch from another fellow member. The watch already has a gen dial on it and it looks pretty nice, but it has bad movement in it. I'm planning on installing a gen ETA 7750 movement with gen Breitling dw and a set of new hands. However, I would like to do a little more to it than just that.

I'm wondering if you can please help me out on these questions.

    1. I understand the gen case is brush finished. Is it the whole watch brush finished including the caseback and bezel? Has anyone done this to the rep before?

    2. I measured the rep crown to be 6.8mm in diameter. I'm thinking about getting a gen crown. Is it also 6.8mm or smaller? The gen dial installed in the watch looks like to be a vintage dial.

I know I can never make this watch more closer to gen because of the bezel edges and number placement and size on the bezel and the caseback, but it still seems to me to be a fun project (I don't mind the sub dial hands to be silver). :)

    Thanks!
