  1. Great post!

I too am a "graduate" of the TZ watch school :D

If our membership only knew much fun and fulfilling working on movemets is !

The first thing I do when I recieve a rep from a dealer is completely disassemble and clean/relube the movement . It's a nice stress relieving process as I am in no hurry.

Keep reading all of The Zigmeisters posts as he is a true craftsman :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  2. I hope it's comming soon...a 1:1 replica sub from one of our trusted dealers. A case where everything is correct...from rehault to CG's and crowns and beefier tubes.!

They got the bands down pretty good though :thumbsupsmileyanim:

And if a 1:1 case was produced what would be the next complaint from us...better grade stainless steal?

Wher does it end :D ? lol

  3. I agree with WW.

I think if you measure the depth of the 3035 and the ETA 2836 you will probably find the 3035 slightly thinner. That would explain the shallower rehault issue when using the ETA movement...the space has to be taken out somewhere...

I might be wrong...good question for the experts here :whistling:

  4. I've been at this hobby for a while now...I've always loved Rolex subs and datejusts and pretty much have absorbed as much as one could about these watches. I have just resently started to have Daytonas catch my eye to the point when I have started researching movements and cases for a franken project. Ubi's Daytonas really wet my whistle :D

Yesterday, completely by accident, while completley bored I started looking at Tudor Chrono's on the bay and fell in love with the Tiger :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Do any of our dealers make a rep of this watch?

I know I said it the past I would never again spend crazy dough on genuine Rollies ever again but I think I'd eat my words with a Tudor Tiger (white face, red second hand) :whistling:

  5. Man...I can't agree with you more!

I've had headache after headache dealing with Rolex. Since 1985 I've had seven Rolies...3 brand new and the others used. The worst was a 1994 sub, brand new, leak while diving in 40 ft of salt water...a bad crystal gasket. :yuk:

I've sold them all with out regret over the past few years :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Now I can say that my collection of Rolex reps gives me NO problems. Paul and Joshua's pieces.

I've learned to work movements and can repair, rebuild or swap out movements without problems.

A VERY fullfilling hobby! But I can't stress enough how I'd never spend that kind of money on a gen watch again.

I know a lot purists here will scoff...but a Joshua sub I modded myself with genuine tube and crown and new seals servived 210ft salt water for 22 minutes! ( I'm an avid scuba diver and put the sub in my BC pocket while taking a tri-mix check-out dive)

And ya know what, these reps are only getting better and better! :D

  6. Ubi is absolutely correct. There are small notches on oposite sides of the release button. These notches stop your screw-driver (1.3) from depressing the button too deep. If you do depress it too deep it will get stuck...bet on it! At that point a keyless works rebuild is in order...not a difficult repair but you have to have passed Watchmaking 101 :D

Remember when working with movements, The Zigmeister summed it up best,

"if you have to ask, you are in way over your head"

    Best of luck :thumbsupsmileyanim:
