The trustytime 1016 does have lug holes, but they are not gen spec. trying to enlarge them to gen spec size will not result in having gen spec spring bars fit, unless you want to put on a leather strap. 

the lug holes are too close to the case and not far out enough towards the end of the lug.  The stock spring bar in the trusty 1016 is curved.  You cannot drill out the trusty lug holes and fit gen spec spring bars and make it look gen spec.

 

once every few months someone comes up with this idea and people talk, things get sort of done, it  gets exciting, and then it all peters out. Do a search on this. I think someone did it for a Rolex dwo and there are some really good vector diagrams on this already.  No one has come up with a good one except for  rwg member polexpete(?)

It doesn't happen to all US sellers shipping to international.  I've purchased from US sellers and had it shipped to Canada without that bs global shipping..

In fact, if I see that global shipping fee, I just bypass the auction altogether and go to the next one without it.  I hope the sellers know this. They are losing potential sales this way.

THe 16000 case iirc is the vintage case with the lower profile bezel and acrylic crystal.  The 16200 cases are the higher profile bezels with the sapphire crystals.  I may be wrong.  What do I know....

I have had both gen jubillee 19mm and 20mm bracelets and they are different in size, not only the enlinks.  The 19mm is for the 15000 Oysterdates series watches or the 34mm case sizes and the 20mm is for th 16000 series 36mm DJ cases

The seconds hand needs to be replaced with a white one.  The gen is white. 

I've been told that the bezel insert for the gen is luminous and some numbers are actually yellow.  I've also been told that the bezel insert has a plastic coating ontop of it.  I've also seen gens that have neither the yellow or plastic insert over it.  The gen has a 19,8 bph, so no need to get the high beat movement.  The big triangle dial is more rare than the trapezoid markers, hence the latter is more popular.

I purchased both crystals and found the GS crystal to be better.

The misaligned or improper mag. cyclops can be fixed by using a correct mag cyclops from Clark or Cousins and then popping it off and regluing it back with UV glue.  I have the Silix Oysterdate but no crystal.  Doing the cyclops switch soon.

OK, my dial is 27.91 mm (with my weak calipers and trying to be careful with the dial.)

 

a DJ 16014 dial is 27.7mm -- which makes me think my dial will work, or be painfully close but not close enough.

 

People have put DJ 16014 dials in 1601 cases in the past with success. Maybe it will be close.

you have about 1mm of play between dials, so 27.91/27.7/28mm should all work. 

I've heard that there is a separate mod to fit 16000 dials in 1601 cases (or was it vice versa?).  I like to keep the 1600 series separate from the 16000 series and keep the corresponding dials the same too.  makes things a bit more "gen"

I have mine on an oyster bracelet now, but used to wear it with leather.  ONly a good genuine croc strap that tapers to 16mm with a 16mm buckle is more true than the 18mm buckles that commonly come with this.

you should be able to open up the caseback and the movement number will be there. I have this watch as well, but I cannot recall the movement number, but mine is accessed via the caseback.  The cyclops is indeed unusual as I have never seen these on vintage seamasters.  could possibly be an aftermarket crystal.  The gen oem omega crystals are quite expensive.  most reputable watchsmiths will have aftermarket ones in stock.  It is not necessary to get an omega oem crystal anyways, but always nice to have an additonal signed piece as it increases its value.  the logo will be a the center of the crystal and will appear just over the cannon pin as a faint etch mark only visible with a loupe. this watch as is could fetch 300+ dollars, depending on its quality.  more with an omega buckle or bracelet. the crown should be signed as well.

By the way, if you can print up a thin enough sheet from mylar or any other opaque medium, you can make your own overlay.  There are some nice vector drawings in some threads on here.

yes I have, but you gotta watch out for sharp lug corners.  I popped by ball that way.

I too have a eta corrected dwo but never found a print shop to make them up. It is not as good as the ones here, but it is a flat top 3 and open 6 and 9.  If anyone can find a print ship to make these, they'd be a hot sell.

I used to have the DD version of that watch.  And yes, it was a big tell on me that it was fake.  The gen was worth 29K, and at the time there's no way anyone would believe I could afford a watch that expensive. Now, it's a different story.  But I stil llike the Roman numeral dials alot. either DD or DJ.

everything said so far seems to be about right.

AK dates are indeed rare.  In fact this is the fist one I've seen.  THis AK is 34mm, so it's a small watch.

Yes, I have gens Omegas and Rollies, and reps of them as well (different watch though).  There is something different about wearing a gen over a rep. It's not that connection to the watchmaker or anything like that, but it is an undefined feeling.  Something about gen wearing overtakes your impressions of the watch itself. My gens will be passed down to my kids one day, but my reps are for everyday wearing and essentially "disposable".  I guess that in itself is the appeal to gens. It is something to be cherished, rather than to be used.
