As for Trusty's not being able to take gen crystals, don't I know about it. I've got three different crystals that all don't fit.
-
yes, automatico is a wealth of info
I guess I won't be in such a hurry to replace the Sh!tinerand case then...
-
Probably were low-beats and I think I've decided to leave this dial in the case w/fluted bezel and sapphire which would be correct with the high-beat. I am starting to look around for another dial and will then assemble a "vintage" version with low-beat movement. I would really love to build out a gen case but they usually sell for more than I'm willing to pay.
Do you know if all DJ cases had drilled lug holes? I too am looking for a DJ gen case as mine is a Sh!tinerand case with no drilled lug holes and a modified fake caseback. Not sure which case number goes with the DJ though.
-
I thought older DJ's had the 19,8 bph movements in them rather than the 28,8bph's
nice build, btw.

yah, I got banned there too. I even emailed them why I was banned even though I don't think I did anything wrong. They said my IP address was banned. I cannot log on at work but can so at home. They still won't lift the IP ban. Some dufus at work must also be a WUS member who [censored] them off real bad.

I could never get over the AK's. I've always fancied the 6426 and the 6694 Precisions. I've got some sort of stigma over the AK as being the entry level Rollie. I nearly picked one up on TZ but couldn't quite come to grips with my preconceived notions of AK's.
Still on the hunt foor a 6694 or a 6426 Precision. I picked up a 6466 with a 1225 movement for my daughter already.

You're probably referring to the Calatrava 3919, which is supposed to be 33.45mm in diameter according to this discussion:
http://indepth.watchprosite.com/show-nblog.post/ti-352122/
However, Patek has replaced this model with the 5116, which is 36mm, like the replica I showed in my original post.
whoa. that is news, and good news too! I have to look into this a bit more.. thanks for the link, and my apologies.... for thinking it was like the 3919/5919

The PP Calatrava is supposed to be 33.45mm and I never found a rep close enough. I love that watch but could not ever get over that size difference.
-
I have that Silix watch, and the caseback is a flat screw down caseback. Unfortunately I had that sent off with the crystal for modding and it is now lost somewhere in transit. So I have a watch with out a case or crystal.
-
he no longer has the flat top 3's in white, only the silver ones. I suppose you could copy and print it out and do a datedisc overlay.
-
I've pondered getting the tt version, but many said that the tt is not the "classic" santos100 that we all know and love.
plus, the gold will eventually wear off. With the SS, that will never happen. I ended up getting the SS version.
-
they fooooked up that entire watch. I wouldn't buy it.
-
The domed bezel looks a bit out of proportion imho. I prefer the Roman numerals over the Arabic.
By far, I still think the Glacier blue DD with Roman numerals is the best (original size)

Okay, here is my Explorer on leather:
Here is how I had it on the Oyster. I didn't like the aging, so I replaced the hands with non aged ones.
-
I'm looking for a datewheel overlay for my 2836. Is yours still useable? I'd like to see a pic of it, and if you are not using it, I'd like to take it off your hands.
-
show us the explorer on leather. I have two, but was thinking about changing form the metal bracelet.
Was thinking of wearing it today, but alas, I wore my gen. vintage Omega Seamaster.
Will wear it tomorrow and show a pic.
-
I have the 1016 now on leather. It looks awesome. I "unaged" it back to its original though... I didn't like the aged look I gave to it.
-
a couple of pumpkins are on TZ for under 2K
-
this is the only pic I have so far, used in a weekly wrist check several weeks ago.
haven't worn it since.
-
I have the $400 Santos 100 Super rep.
It is really good. Good enough for me to take to the AD. I tried on the gen a few weeks before I got mine and they both look extremely alike.
-
I bought a rubber for my 42mm PO and it did not fit well, as it couldnt curve around the wrist that well, hence i sold it right away.
btw, I have a 6.25 inch wrist.
-
Just be glad it aint a POLEX with a S HITERAND case back.

Yes, I like the idea of getting a watch to mark a special occasion. I did that with a gen vintage Rolex and some gen vintage Omegas. Getting another watch to mark this years' Fathers day.
Going to get another gen vintage Rolex, but awaiting some special occasion first. Like cracking open my bottle of Hennessy XO. It is still unopen as that special occasion has not yet arrived.
Some watches that I sold were because it reminded me of a sad life experience. No longer wanted to be remined of that occasion. In fact, come to think of it, I might have to sell some more.

isn't the date window off?
I've come across someone who had the gen datewindow not line up with the rep datewheel.
suggestions for best vintage explorer 1?

Clarke's T22 may fit on your case, but it doesn't fit on Trusty's. I've got that one, plus a T19 plus an Ofrei version of a T19 (GC... something)
