  1. I know how to polish the brushed part of the links (I use a scotchbrite pad) and I have seen where a member used a dremel or buffing machine with jewelers rouge(i have neither). Could jewelers rouge and a toothbrush work instead of a buffing wheel? What type of rouge would I need to polish up the polished part of the links?
  2. Has anyone bought one? Are they quality? How does it compare to the rep bracelet, specifically the one on PT's 1665 GW?
  3. Why is it I can't see the forest for the trees sometimes? thanks gents!
  4. How is where is yuki? Is he a ebay seller? If so what is his store name?
  5. Isn't the movt out of production? Wouldn't that make it hard to find and possibly pricy?
  6. As I plan my 1665 out and review my material I'm looking for some verification on a couple things. I have read earlier 1665's had the t-39 superdome, DRSD and the later GW had a flatter "medium dome tropic". Is this correct? Also when sent to Rolex for servicing they sometimes replaced with god knows what. Would a T-19 also work for a GW 1665? Is it even accurate for that watch?
  7. I plan on wearing the watch for a spell to find out how I like her and to see what I want done. The first batch of mods I am going to do are: 1. Confirm the movt is a slow beat ETA - what are the tells the movt is a swiss eta-2846? 2. Medium domed 25-39 crystal - find one from Clark on the bay - Is that the correct crystal id? 3. Gen. 703 crown 4. Tube - this one I'm not sure about as I haven't found a place who sells them, any advice? - I remember reading that PT's tube will work with a gen crown, correct? 5. Research the lug holes. I picked up some 2mm spring bars from my watch maker and will see if they fit. 6. Have the movt serviced. 7. I'll need to find someone to perform the mods. Can someone point me in the right direction? So that is the plan, just double checking to see if I have things right. Thanks again guys.
  8. Wher can I find a tube for a gen crown?
  9. So the Gen crown's are narrower? Is there still a need to shave the CG's with a gen crown? Does someone make a generic crown that's better than the rep crown? Gen crowns are pricey! The 1665 takes a 703 and/or 702 crown correct? 7mm crown, yes?
  10. For me of all parts to go retarded on would be a bracelet. No other part touches the wrist more than the bracelet. As previously stated, I is silly
  11. As a previous poster said, children are walking disasters. Of all the youthful indiscretions this is on the low end. Boys will be boys. I pray for a speedy recovery my friend. Do I see a rep for your son in his near future, to subdue the pain?
  12. You know who you are. I just wanted to say I appreciate all the reads and posts during my research on the 1665 Great White I purchased last week. It has been a fun and enjoyable discovery process in acquiring info and knowledge about the fine 1665 as well as interacting with fellow members. Our members truly have an in depth knowledge about this hobby! RWG and all its members are a true joy!
  13. I just wanted to say thank you to RWG and all its members, especially those helping me out on my research on a 1665 I just bought. I appreciate all who have read my posts and have responded. I value RWG for hosting such a wonderful place allowing like minded folk to enjoy such a brilliant hobby.
  14. "no point putting a $500+ bracelet on a $200 watch. That would be silly." Sir, I is very silly!
  15. Will 2mm spring bars fit with a PT 93150/585 bracelet?
  16. I have seen where some use it to be funny but wondered if that meant the perp was banned? What does one do to get banned from rwg? The sire is pretty laid back I can't imagine.
  17. Just bought a 1665 GW and will prob replace the crystal. I have read it will take a T-39. Will it take a flat tropic crystal? Do they even make such a beast, flat crystal for the 1665 GW?
  18. Can you be a little more descriptive about the differences? Visually, be touch, etc...
  19. Is the stem included with the crown? Are a gen crown and tube more durable? I can then assume adjusting the time day in day out the gen tube and crown will provide more durability?
  20. Consider several things: 1. What movt does it have? If its a 21j they cannot be repaired, only replaced. They cost $15-30. Will you do the movt swap or pay someone else to do it? 2. How long do you plan on owning it? If a 21j movt see above, if not it can be serviced and giving it a long serviceable life. Many will tell you it isn't worth it. If it breaks buy another. Only you can determine if it is worth it. Personal opinion: if you have an eta or Asian clone id have it serviced. Clone or eta movts generally have more quality components than their counterparts. 21j i would use it as something to play with, to learn more about reps. You buy a version of a rep you never know when they will stop producimg that version with all of the quality attributes.
  21. I HAD NO IDEA THEY REP'D A REGULATEUR!
