How to make a better cannon pinion for a Panerai 7750 movement.
Tony7777 replied to sander's topic in The Panerai Area
Resurrecting and old thread: Now that The Zigmeister has officially retired, are there any known modders who have executed this mod well? The results Sander achieved were outstanding! -
I know this is really late to the party but is there another dealer that carries MBW parts? Tony
-
Put me in for a set as well! (thanks for the tip, Doc!!!)

Hello Simon, Im in for a pair....if there are any left! Tony

Jay, that 233 never ceases to amaze. The rep versions have a loooooong way to go! Tony

Received today possibly the best rep watch I've owned yet
Tony7777 replied to bwhitesox's topic in The IWC Area
I cant wait for my 5002! The crystal is off for a little Chief magic at this time. Yeah that does look like the faux PR version...it has the correct dial, yes? Too bad you cant have both on this watch...but since I had to choose, I went with the correct dial. Wear it well! -
Fidestro is 100% correct...of all the things to be pilloried for by the press and the ever agile minds like those of Master of Puppets, the last thing a public official wants to be known for are his/her personal excesses. We all witnessed how Clothes-gate knocked Ms. Palin down a peg or two in the media...

Aye, thanks! As I mentioned previously that pesky deployant pops open all the time... So Im thinking about having Zack (Red12) build a strap...I know that in order to get the classic aviator shape Ill have to go with a smaller buckle. Hmm, something to think about... Tony
-
Hey I just ran across these same buckles on E-Bay. Is this where you sourced yours? Im having a BP 5002 modded and I really dont like the deployant....so Ive been looking around for some alternatives. $35 for a 20mm buckle is a bit pricey, yes? Tony

urgent question: 5002 BP straps: quality brown vs. black
Tony7777 replied to simzger's topic in The IWC Area
Lani is indeed the expert, but I can see where folks have been critical of the rep strap. The sides have this weird plastic coating that looks well quite synthetic. The rest of the strap looks pretty good tho! Tony -
Removing scratches from Sapphire crystal
Tony7777 replied to iceberg1459's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Yes I read that you should start with the heavier grain and then work up to the finer grit...just like sanding wood! Ill purchase from eBay...thanks!!!! Tony -
Yeah, he had several gunshot wounds, she had a single one to the head. Im guessing that he tried to break it off and go back to his wife and kids...she took exception. It is pretty awful. The French have an expression...he who has two lovers will end up with none! Uhh, unless of course you are Tom Brady and can successfully knock up models/actresses in succession. Oofah! Tony

Removing scratches from Sapphire crystal
Tony7777 replied to iceberg1459's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Hello RWG/RG members...has ANYONE had any luck with diamond lapping paste for scratches? Ive heard both that its miracle stuff and that it was also a bust! Insight anyone????? Thanks, Tony -
RedSoxMan is very astute...for the amount of time, money, and passion that are all poured into the hobby there is generally little public attention paid to the results. So if anyone thinks that a Hublot with a ceramic bezel will get you laid, then that fella is in for some unfotunate news and possible a protective order. I think I can always tell the members who are truly obsessed because they are eager to show off their multiple briefcases of watches and proudly proclaim that they are unworn and in pristine condition. My guiding principle is never to buy more than I would wear AND always buy the better quality items. That should keep me from sinking into Dante's 5th stage. Oh and so long as I can admire my watch at the dog park or while pounding out a mundane email at work, then I can achieve inner peace! Tony

Will it match..? (Small wrist, Big watch)
Tony7777 replied to t0t0_b0y's topic in General Discussion
Thats a good question. Frankly Im not really sure what qualifies as a big wrist. 8"+? In addition to wrist circumference, your body type helps balance the look of the watch. Bigger watches tend to overwhelm folks with very slight builds imho. Tony -
The site was down for several hours...still not sure why. Im guessing it was a server issue. I have membership to both forums so I didnt miss a beat!! Tony

What if you could improve your wristi images ?
Tony7777 replied to lanikai's topic in General Discussion
Lani your insights and expertise are always appreciated. I suspect there's a LOT of interest not just for the wristies but also to assist with the selling of pieces in the Trade Area. Ugh nothing is worse than trying to make out features on a blurry pic for sale!! Oh and thanks for the advice for the BP....I forewent the working PR for the correct dial...couldnt be happier! Cheers Tony -
Lani looking forward to hearing about that technique...unfortunately I cant seem to master the cell phone shot either Tony
-
Yep its awesome when its completely modded out (despite the faux PR). Im sure it took awhile and some real coin to complete! Still, its the best one Ive seen to date! Also check out Lanikai's posts for the BP...he seems to know the watch very well!!!! Tony
-
There you have it...I heard from a few sources that Andrew/Josh sell the best one. Reg (Narikaa) just informed me that he doesnt have them. Also check out Gorilla straps if you want to upgrade...really nice designs (albeit a bit pricey) Tony
-
Good find! Im in the market for a BP myself. From what Ive read you have two options with this model...a working PR but incorrect dial or a correct dial but faux PR. My observation is that the purists here have opted for the correct dial and faux PR. Based on the available rep movements its not possible to have both. Ive heard good things about Watcheden and with that $20 coupon its a better price than Andrew/Josh. Tony

I received mine recently from Seade on RWG. I think its the one that Prestige sells. It IS stunning...nice presence, MUCH better than avg. rep lume, and quick change straps. I agree, the rep leather strap is soft but like the buckle very very thin. Im shopping around for new shoes now! A couple of concerns: - The AR: It has a pinkish/purplish hue around the edges of the dome. Im guessing thats not the case with the gen. Looks cool though...like light reflecting on an oil spill! - The movement: My understanding is that the P.2002 3 Barrels movement isnt likely to be repped soon. It is a beauty to behold (take a look at Elisx's pics of the gen model he purchased). I asked DSN abt the movement and he seemingly had not heard of it. - The crystal: I read in a few places that members have had suddenly exploding crystals with this model. Im not sure how to insulate against that Tony

As is usual, Hooky is quite right. Not the full 8 days. However the version I saw offered by Josh/Andrew has a faux indicator. So the PWC is a bit better, no?
-
Hey I feel a bit dopey answering my own post....BUT I found a nice looking 233 at Prestigewatch (from RG) for $149. Choice of bands too. Working 8 day power reserve. The GMT hand cannot be independently adjusted but it does sync with the hour/minute hands and of course the rep doesnt feature the cal.p.2002 Three Barrels movement. Putting in an order today! Tony
-
Love these models! I saw that Josh is offering a 233 but without working power reserve. Didnt see anything for DSN or Andrew. Anyone out there know of a good place for either? Thanks, Tony
