  1. I have also bought from Watcheden and was quite happy with the purchase. However RWI have put Watcheden on probation because of problems, and Sarah seems to be fired because of bad attitude. I do not know what the problems are, but it seems serious.

If WE becomes a better dealer, good for all of us. I have not seen many complaints here - does anybody know anything?

Should we be careful with buying from WE now?

  2. castlemountain Ill measure the height tonight, the 45mm width is measured from the outside if the case, not including the crowns. It wears much smaller than a 45mm Planet Ocean though, I think this is because the face is smaller and the case tapers towards the top. So it sorta feels a bit more like 42mm ish

    IMG_6081-45.jpg

Thanks a lot, opti :D As you say it wears smaller, that is really the details I would like to know. :)

Looks like you had a nice time at the Australian Grand Prix, love the pics - especially the one with the girls :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  3. title.jpg

    Conclusion:

Despite its many flaws, I still like it, Im being critical because I don't want to give anyone false expectations. It really does look great on the wrist and feels pretty good, better than my photos. The rubber strap is fairly comfortable and the clasp shat me off to begin with but its come good now. It has a great sporty look and feel. Its a shame that quartz doesn't get any love from the rep makers, I'm sure the 7750 version doesn't suffer from a lot of these issues.

its 45mm wide. This is on my 7.5 ~ 8 inch wrist

    IMG_6081.jpg

Good job, opti - thanks for the effort :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I really like these SLRs and think I might get one. Also nice with the white leather.

However I have a 7" wrist and wonder if it is too big.

Is that 45mm east/west on the outside of the casing (not just outside of the bezel)?

Could you please measure north/south from end of lug to end of lug?

  4. Hello i know that the quarz watches is a bit cheap

but i want to buy this watch with quarz because i'll wear

it 2-3 times a week and i don't want to set the time every time i plan to wear it

i have seen the quarz model for the

Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Day-Date with white dial has anyone bought this watch with quarz?

i know it's a bit shame to buy this excellent watch with quarz but i want it to be a

    practical watch?

i have photos but they have the shop logo and i think i can't post them...

They say that is the new watch with 43mm dial and the same body as the second tag heuer replica

(with the most corrected dial , and numbers, and colours)

Has anyone bought this watch with quarz?

or a similar watch to post a opinion?

tsakalos - I havenot bought this watch. I thought you only got the 43 mm with the auto DayDate, but I did a quick search and I found a quartz with 43mm case. If you think you like it, I would go for it. I would buy from a dealer on the forum of course.

Most important is that you like it :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  5. Ultimately it depends if the movement is a sealed pack from ETA, or if it's just sitting in the plastic holder/container exposed to air. If the movement is in the sealed manufacturer's pack, you don't need to worry about servicing; the packs are vacuum sealed and hence there is no air to have any detrimental impact on the lubricants. This is why the sealed packs cost more than your average surplus movement from supplier 'xyz'. Their shelf life is longer...

Thanks for the info, ubi! This might mean that you never know what you get.. The movement should be just as good it just needs service, I suppose. Of course then it is no good reason to get the Swiss ETA, as I understand the asian movements are dependable.

Also my reason for posting this was

    1. is it reasonable the extra cost - imo it seems fair for some of the reps as the movement costs USD 400 and it is also some other small upgrades.

    2. is it any reason to buy them? IMO again it seems like it is not, as for me it is not important if the mvmt is asian or swiss.

    3. perhaps most interesting is there any other differences? The Day-Date Carrera on Trusty's site says it is a NEW rep made with a gen as pattern. So it should be better - it says with double AR, with working regulator, although still the blue screws.. It still is a ridiculous price; USD 968 - but I like to see the reps getting better.

For that price it is not likely anyone will buy it, so we might never know if it's better..

New DayDate Made with gen as pattern

If you read up on the little white lies from some dealers, you'll find you are much better off buying an Asian movement watch and having one of the modders add an aftermarket movement. This way you'll know the providence and know what you are actual getting.

That said, I would buy the Asian watch and wear it with pride until there was a problem. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Hammy - I agree with you about the buy - in fact I have a DayDate with asian 7750 and I will not change it for a Swiss :D It is more fun enjoying what you have - and I really like it!

So I guess I will not mod mine.. I would get another rep for the price instead.

I was really curious about why this was done? Also it seems like a strange time for expensive reps in the middle of the financial crisis. :g:

  6. And the funny thing is that there is a very high change that from a a technical point of view the Swiss ETA 7750 needs a full service overhaul, because big chance those are older stock movements. Fyi, after around 5-7 years in stock all oils are dried out inside the movement. used or not used, does not matter...

So I would rather service the Asian 7750, which then will have a similar quality and reliability as the Swiss ETA version, and for a lot less money..

    Just my 2 cents.

hooky - That is one thing that would keep me fom buying it.. ;)

Silly Money for average watches IMHO, but I have to say the Day Date was calling to me in the AD the other day so I might go for the A7750 version one day.Given the a7750 12-9-6's reliability its hard to justify these prices really

stormtrooper4 - So not much more quality or reliability, even though you pay more – interesting.

This as other says it is no reason to update to Swiss.

Carrera Racing is like 2500-3000 used gen.1100 for a rep is insane.

Dani – as I have seen you also are a Norwegian – I think you are right about the used price. I just remembered a friend of mine bought one – but it was really an ordinary Carrera.

As you say USD1100 (or really 1188) for the Racing is insane – approx 800 seems to be justified, but still really steep..

If you want the Swiss 7750 it's worth it. As stated before the movement costs over $400 by itself. Swapping it out may not be so easy either with the hand swap and possible case modifications to get the movement to fit. I wouldn't say it's cheap but it is fair.

fool2 – It seems like the upgrade might be fairly priced, however if you do not get much more than a Swiss mvmt, for me it's not worth it. But still we can choose – which I think is OK – but I choose not to buy :whistling:

    Anyhow

I think the question of real swiss might come it play though, given the apparent arrival of the new 7753 and all the Asian ETA clones you have to admit there is some doubt

stormtrooper4 – I don't understand what you mean – do you mean it's doubt that you get what you pay?

The 7753 is a new version of the 7750 I vaguely remember - that can accomodate a function?

I was really curious if these prices were totally new reps, but they don't seem to be. Most seem to think the price is too high for mainly a Swiss 7750. The Racing from Andrew at USD 1188 I don't understand at all. OK - it doesn't have the blue screws B)

Good to see I was not the only one shocked :)

    Thanks everyone for the input!

  7. I think a new Swiss 7750 is 440usd

Thanks - Jkay - so a big difference - then USD 788 isn't that bad if you count in the Swiss 7750.

Gran - I think it is about half what I can buy one for used where I live - Norway, that might be better for me.

For a rep it's a crazy price - and still I think Trusty has the Racing for USD 1188..

To me it seems like strange timing with the crisis and not so much money around producing very expensive reps, but perhaps the "rich people" will move into reps ;)

  8. for my taste they are to expensive for a tag rep

Basically I agree, too expensive for me as well. The good part I guess is that quality might go up, everybody wants better quality.

However is anybody going to buy them?

Also I wonder is the reason that Swiss 7750 so much more expensive? and so much better quality?

Also saw the Racing at Trusty's for USD 1 188..

I would rather have 5 watches to the Racing quality (USD 240) than the Racing at Trusty's site :D

    Carrera Racing with Swiss 7750

  9. I just saw this Carrera Racing with working regulator and Swiss 7750 for USD 788 at Joshua's site. I got a little shock - I guess the working regulator count for something and the Swiss 7750 I guess must be quite a bit more expensive. The regular Carrera Racing is now down (I think) to USD 238 - so the new better version is now 3 x the price.

Carrera Racing working reg Swiss 7750

I also saw the the Day Date Carrera to USD 968 - the same Swiss 7750, working reg, double side AR and made with a real watch as pattern. It still has the blue screws though. B)

2008 Day Date, Double AR 1:1

Fairly nooby as I am - I am not quite sure - I think I have seen prices like this before when new models arrive and then little later the real price is announced. But then it is the same price and here it is differentiated.

In one way it can be good as I think the Racing price has gone down.. However the two other (just 2 examples) has skyrocketed, and it seems unreal - it might not be - I do not know the prices for Swiss 7750. Of course starting production if it's a completely new model costs.

So more differentiation might be good - some more highprofile models - but if it's mainly up it is not so good. Also here most of us want the best - although I think I would be happy with the old Racing. :)

    So what do you think?

  10. Maybe my color blindness is getting the best of me but, the watch in that link appears to have a dark blue face?

I agree with ianagarrison - I think it is the AR that gives the blue tinge, also the text says it is

"DIAL COLOR: Black Dial with White Numerals"

Also agree with you - it looks pretty darn sexy :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I havent seen many with the "dimpled dial" and this has double AR.

If you want to use it a lot I would go with this one, if you just want to use it occasionally it is one at

watcheden for USD 128 freight incl with single AR. (as Andrew's also you have to add freight appr USD 40)

PO Quantum Solace 21j single AR

If you buy any of them be sure to post pictures her ;)

  11. This one looks pretty darn sexy: http://www.trustywatchguy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_114&products_id=3951

But, isn't the quantum of solace planet ocean supposed to have a black face not a blue one?

If you are referring to the link, yes I think it should be black and it certainly seems to be black.

I think all Planet Oceans should be black, I do not know about any that is not black.

If you are referring to any other watch, please explain.

  12. Anywhere I can get a good replica of this watch:

    15.jpg

    or this one...

    13.jpg

I like those Bond Omegas as well and I wonder if what you want is one of these two, the upper 45 mm or the lower 41mm?

Or as you say in your first post a Bond styled Omega like this one from 2002

    post-20849-126840161562_thumb.jpg

This is my personal favorite, it is blue and you can find a replica at Watcheden for USD 108 incl freight.

It has the 007 logo above 6 on the dial and 007 is textured as a pattern in the dial as well.

    007 Omega 2002 40 yrs

Otherwise, you have perhaps seen this copy of the Planet Ocean 45 you were looking for USD 298 + freight

007 Quantum of Solace Planet Ocean 45mm

I do not know how much you are prepared to pay and how good the copy has to be. The last from Andrew seems to be very good,

and the first I guess would be acceptable for me and something I would wear. However here on the forum the standard is very different from member to member.

And I think I am much less orientated to the 1:1 copies than some people are here, but I have not collected for a very long time B)

  13. This isn't the case with all quartz chronos... I have a 120$ quartz chrono, that works exactly like the gen does. Button at 2 starts/stops, button at 4 resets.

when crown is at set time mode, buttons change the zero point, each it's own subdial.

Thanks! So ordinarily a Quartz chrono works like the gen?

I guess this one should work with button at 2: start/stop and at 4: reset.

None of the buttons adjust the small dials as crown is in set mode, so I guess this might not work with mine.

But of course the running seconds should work.

The button for start/stop has to be pushed all the way to the bottom to react, not like my TAG w/7750.

But that might just be the way it is, not malfunctioning.

  14. I bought my 6th rep and I guess it happened as it is likely, something doesn't work.

(Ok, I had some smaller issues earlier that I did not complain to seller about.)

It is a Panerai Ferrari California quartz, cool watch I think, of course it is both a Ferrari and quartz.

    dsc3101.jpg

So not a REAL Panerai :)

I put it in the general section as I think this is useful to know when you buy all Quartz chronos.

It has buttons at 2, 3 & 4. At 2: (unscrew)stop/start stopwatch At 3: (unscrew)setting time and pull to reset stopwatch (Do not know if this should be necessarry?) At 4: this doesn't work, I guess it should reset stopwatch.

Big central second hand for stopwatch, running seconds at 9, this is stationary, running 24h at 3, this works but is slightly out of sync with the time.

So I have been told to send it back for repair. I think it would be nice to have running seconds at 9 and be able to reset stopwatch with button at 4.

However for 20-25 usd, (and perhaps waiting 4 weeks) I do not know if it is worth it. The dial at 9 is quite small, so not very visible.

Also I might want to get another Quartz chrono later and it would be good to know what to expect, as this is not often described on rep sellers web pages:

Will the small dial at 9(in this case) be running seconds?

Should the button at 4 reset stopwatch?

Is it a way to get running 24h at 3 to be in sync with time? I know it is only a USD 128 watch.

But anyway could someone answer this?

I managed to get stopwatch to reset at 0 instead of 58, by using buttons at 2 and 3.

  15. Im looking at buying a RW Tango rep and I come across a few when googling....but not sure if the sellers are reilable.

Can anyone point me to some good sellers I can purchase this from? Am in Canada by the way...

    Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

I do not think you will find any reps of Tango.

Good reps often cost USD 200-300, I've bought a new gen for USD 800.

So Raymond Weil is really one of the relatively inexpensive marks, that probably doesn't pay well to replicate.

Of course there are also expensive RWs, but the Tango is not one of them.

I have seen the Nabucco being replicated, and it is quite expensive as a rep.

So I do not think you will find the Tango at any of the trusted dealers.

I am sure you will find reps of it for sale other places, but I think that is highly likely it's a scam.

All this is of course just my 2 cents.

If you or any one else (against my odds ^_^ ) find other inexpensive RW models - I would also be interested as I love them. :)

  16. No Triumph like Mal then, Fred? ;) Love your signature! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I love the Ogri comic and still have an Ogri coffe mug and I think I still have my sweatshirt from the late 80's.

Had my Triumph then and wanted a Norvin like Ogri ..

Also - very nice bike you have there! :)

For the last 4 years I have owned a Ducati 900SS which is worth around 2000 Euros. My Fully Comprehensive Insurance + Breakdown Recovery cost me 100 Euros. - I'm in the UK.

I think my 34 years motorcycle riding experience weighs in my favour !! :D
