Do you think its worth servicing the movement as soon as one gets it from a TD?
I just got the AP Diver with Swiss ETA 2846 movement in... Hack mechanism was completely missing and the oil was almost not oil anymore. Luckily my watchmaker is very good and had a hack mechanism in his spare parts.
If this is what we get with the 'QC' on a Swiss ETA, we can expect it everywhere... And I don't think it's the dealers' fault... It 'seems' that they might even outsource their so called 'QC', which is is hit or miss most of the time.

Sorry to drag up this old topic, but is this the site; and is it trusted? http://www.toro.fun/
yes, and yes

Andrew has been my goto dealer for years, and he's always been excellent with communication, delivery, and resolving any issues... I will go to Toro or Sead if Andrew doesn't have what I'm looking for.

That is too kind for him.
He should be gang raped by a troop of baboons and then have his ass coated with honey and set on by 10000 fire ants. THEN he can get his kneecaps broken by a sledgehammer.
He does have a USA address. Anyone wanting it can PM me. The pig needs to be taught a lesson for sure.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkMaybe, but that's pretty twisted LOL

Difficult to see at that angle. A straight on shot similar to what I posted could reveal all

D if you notice the right bottom corner of the date window, it seems a tad distorted in the pic. I noticed this also on the 2846 I worked on. The shape of the window seems different from the one on the 2836. I could be wrong of course, could be just the angle of your pics mate.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI've uploaded some quick macro shots that could explain the differences between models... is it possible that the corner radii are larger, so a less rounded corner window would not fit?

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIt's not distorted, but the reflection and the parallax makes it look kind of bulbous doesn't it! I'll try to get a better one later.

Thanks D!
Is that the 2846 version please?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYes, 2846... It arrived all dirty, hack mechanism missing, and oil was all gunked up.
My watchmaker whipped it into shape and now it's running like a champ!

I have compared the A2836 version and the ETA2846 version and the datewheel window opening on the 2846 version seems to be bigger. The prof diver cyclop did not fit the 2846 dial by default and needs to be modded. The cyclop is a plug and play for the 2836.
I do not know if it’s the case only for that specific 2846 piece I worked on or whether it is the same across the board. Can someone else comment on this? Thanks
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkHere's a pic if it helps compare:

try these sites:
www.puretime.io
www.intime03.co
There are plenty, but offhand, I can recall the above 2. The dealers get their watches from the same factories. So do your research, and if in doubt, ask your questions in the Rolex sub-forum.
Good luck!
Welcome!
FYI, Andrew is my goto dealer... Great service:

Maybe this is a new one improved, but if you search on the forum you can found comment about the old one..
Yes, I found below photo over on RWI... It was a while back when this canal street version was released and it's pretty terrible...
The new one from ZF is a completely different animal but I think I'll hold out for a blue dial or even better a ceramic version (but that might be dreaming)

if I remember correctly it was already available ..
But the rece said that it was not good like the FF..
I've never seen this available from any of the TDs, but I'm thinking of going for it... It says it's from the ZF factory but not sure what their strength is.

I ordered mine 9 days ago... no QC pics yet...
They are drip feeding these for some reason... Do you think they're trying to pull a Rolex exclusivity trick? -
Wow! Pretty amazing run you're having there!
No doubt you've made some dealer(s) very very happy too!

From the yellowness of it, it's clear that it's the famous Luminor Urina... or is it urethra?

So... scanning through the latest 'New Releases' links on TDs pages, I see this popping out at me like in the matrix:
ZF

ARF

JKLooks like they're trying to develop a new code or language, or subliminal obfuscation at least...
All I have to say is WTF??!!

My take on this is to have it looked at... if it's OK, leave it, but if there's something wrong, even just some dirt inside to get it serviced... Where there's smoke, there's fire
