I don't think many folks saw this comming............
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/29/pal...date/index.html
True...with one exception:
Nanuq.
PS: Although she is by far more beautiful than McCain (Cindy that is)...we wonder whether or not she can handle foreign policy, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, climate change, and the defining issues of this election and our future...especially when Numero 1 is 72 years old and a melanoma patient...(beating the odds)...can she become the acting US President (even if for a while in the event Mc Cain takes a little health vacation at Bethesda?)? ....this is interesting...I wished McCain was as maverick-like in choosing the members of his team. It will lead to very interesting 70 days unitl the election....And proves this is the best system....unique times, my friends, unique times.

The gen insert comes with Superluminova already (C1). What makes this one desirable is the Tritium aged colour
Here's the one I got. Please note this is the picture of the pearl with vintagized 'non-bright old luminous' by watches and parts on the Bay. To my eyes, the ones that I got as the same. I'll snap pics as I install them on a proper insert.

You know, this is the first time I'm actually considering getting a "double". I'd love to get the black one too.
But I haven't seen even one real-life picture of that version. Would be interesting.
Great review my friend! You got me into Omegas and now Ebel (and I thought I was a Rolex man ) The dial version is beautiful... and not to distract from the topic the new Ebel Classic Hexagon GMT is also a piece of art...great brand

That answers the question
WHO HAS THE BEST SUB?
BLANCPAIN DOES...
The FF is beyond incredible...another level altogether. I handled the exact same watch and 'visited' it at the Blancpain store on Madison Ave at least 3 times. The only problem to me was the size...especially the thickness of the piece. But that is a practical issue for me and has nothing to do with the watch itself. Personally, the vintage FF is more appealing... By the way, it is almost impossible to replicate...the quality of the dial and especially the bezel are simply too perfect.
Cheers

Seriously peoplei just did a search on this watch today and realized the status have not moved eg. no one heard nothing about this being made ...
I'm sure im not alone when i say i would get one of these either Vintage or Modern! This is a piece of history and a great potential also looks like not to be to complicate to do ...
Someone shed some light
Modern:
Vintage:
Gorgeous

Just like with everything Rolex...love and hate go hand in hand...
The Deepsea was designed to fit the needs of COMEX in the 21st century (They'll go deeper I guess ) The dial and rehaut is just too busy...but it is true...probably THE professional piece of the sports collection. The dome thick crystal, the new size, the new bezel and insert, and the blue lume are nice additions.
The price tag is around $9K (about 30% + when compared to a 16600)...(10% construction 90% marketing as usual...but that's another story)

Fasil Argggghh Ali ...Similar story, different product, I still receive a reminder email everyday to pay for the same item a second time...Not sure if the guys is playing cute, is just greedy or is a plain moron...maybe a combination.

The only cool thing about the SD Deep Sea is the blue lume...
(it will go down in history along with this one...

Well this just goes to show that the head of the watch takes 364 days and 23hrs to make, add that to the 1 hr to make the bracelet and there's your year to make each Rolex.

Ken
EXACTLY (you just beat me to it...)
It's a brand, it's marketing, it's perception...it's mass produced selling the illusion of something different.
...but I love those vintage sports models

To buy one of my dream gen watches I would have to rob several banks or invent a machine that turns poo into gold.
Or excrete cash...

Back with an old favorite before flyes to meet The Zigmeister for fine tuning ... (changed the bezel to a gen dot + PMWF insert...cooked by Randy )

I think we may have served together - I was part of the special ops team that helped Austin Powers take out Dr Evil. I was also offered Secret Service Presidential Protective Detail, but I let Clint Eastwood have it because he was slightly better qualified (he's also been a cowboy and a cop).
This is one of the most hilarious posts I have read in a while!!!

PS: The paraguayan special ops are among the best...when they are sober

Kind of agree with you...dishonest in a sly way for selling a movement (the only original part) with a fake datewheel at a markedly higher price than its market price. Honest in an equally sly way for selling a bunch of junk from his 'personal collection'...and advising customers as to the origin of such parts... Why not selling the movement only and get over with? Because by throwing a bunch of non-gen parts on it...he's doubling the price. I'd buy an NDTrading dial from NDTrading only. As far as the cost...in my own opinion...nobody takes a big loss in the bay...not for a 'buy now price'.
I haven't seen a lot of frankens in the bay lately. Always amusing
Cheers
Alex
Curious as to what is dishonest about his ad???Sounds to me like a jeweleryandwatch case, an NDTrading dial, a gen 1570 and a couple bracelets. PLUS the extra crown/tube and crystal.
Seems like alot of money, but I guarantee he is taking a loss at his asking price!
-
This guy is selling an authentic Rolex 1570 movement with a fake datewheel on a franken 1680...At least he tells you he is throwing all the replaced parts for 'free" :D :D though he is charging a whole lot more than what the movement is worth... (and take a look at those endlinks...)

pretty crazy. for those looking for a MUCH cheaper alternative to the comex in lot 201 above, take a peak here
mine even comes with an acryllic pearl, and the tritium lume on my hands match the dial

Actually I like yours better!
As far as the prices go...sounds like what the last antiquarium auction prices went to...beyond Pluto's orbit.

...The center of attention at your wedding should be you & your bride, not the watches on your wrists. Trust me on this.
Actually...it is all about the bride.. .(the pictures, the gown, the pictures, the gown, the ring, her beauty, the pictures, the nuptial march, the entrance...the pictures... ) The groom? nope...there is even a 'best' man...and that is not him...so I say...make it more like your day and buy yourself a gen (Rolex datejust comes to mind...not to break the bank), a couple of nice reps for your buddies, a bottle of Balvenie 21 double wood, some cuban cigars and enjoy your day too...you have to be as well!
That's what I'd do...!!!
Cheers and congratulations

Yes guys...really neat place. Sometimes a particular watch is just the excuse to tell a human story. And saturation divers usually do have a few to tell

Hello guys
I wanted to share this page for those of you who don't know it and for those who miss days of class and character...and classic subs are representative of that! A former saturation diver and his collection...photos and stories around subs and SD's and the chance to see them in action. A treat!
Cheers

@ BT and Randy....Hello guyssss!
BT you are back with a beautiful piece... congratulations on your collection...
Randy! you always tweak any piece into an even more interesting one...! Explorer in a NATO strap...I always thought the classic 'mountain top' look with a steel bracelet was the one to go with ... but I'm digging the 'underwater' look with the strap now... And that legendary Daytona... always bring a smile to me facey
It's good to be back!
Alex
@Ubi: Wow, that's quite a dress watch!@Alextor: That's a classic!!! A beauty!

Great acquisition and excellent pictures Lani. Back from the rep-tirement...and the first thing that comes through my head is: get a new Rolex rep...! And this is the top contender.
Best to all
