  1. I promised never to buy an Asian 7750 again...had two watches and they both died on me in less than one week. The last one was an IWC GST Ti which is probably one of the nicest looking chronos out there ... and one of the most accurate replicas to boot. Being serviced at the moment...had two faulty gears with missing teeth and apparently a lot of grime and dirt....(report from my trusted watchmaker)... :black_eye: I'm considering buying an ETA Valjoux 7750 movement and get it over with. :g:

Not sure about the new Asian 7750 high beat...I shiver when I think about the money I spent on watches that died 'in situ' within a few days of their purchase...you live and learn :animal_rooster:

    Cheers

  2. Yep, excellent! The only difference is the outer surface of the cg's but it would be difficult to tell without comparison picture.

    Great work!

Exactly! The cg's on the gen 1680 were pointy...but it is impossible to tell with a comparative picture...and then, cg's changed at least three times...(square on the earlier models, pointy in the 70's and then the current configuration more rounded)... the pearl and the dial...impossible to tell without a 10X loupe I guess...I'm drooling all over the keyboard. Congratulations :3a:

  3. Heehee... Just saw this, and I honestly hadn't even realized I even crossed the powermax threshold!! :o I guess I've done a lot of post-whoring, eh?

I am honoured, to be amongst the presence of each and every one of you... My dear friends, and RWG family! Thanks for having me...

  4. Place des Voges?

If you want cheap accomodation, you head away from the centre. 18th, near (but not too near) Montmartre, is cheap, for instance. Bastille/Marais isn't. Being away from the centre isn't that important as the Metro system (and the buses) is efficient enough that anywhere is at most 45 minutes away from anywhere important.

    http://wikitravel.org/en/Paris

In the old days I used to stay 5 or 6 blocks away from Place des Vosges...a cheap place right of a "Let's go Paris"...then upgraded to a couple of blocks away from the Musee d'Orsay and the restaurant Le Telegraphe (sorry about my french spelling Pugs)...but the last couple of times over there...got great deals at The Bristol...compliments of the contacts of a former GF (and still good friend...she's english)...

I go back everytime I have the chance...I used to fly out on a Friday and come back on a Monday...take a good book, walk around, eat cheaply during the day and drink coffee and port until late reading in a sidewalk cafe. Memories, memories...what an amazing place...you'll find love every time...even if it is with the city itself.

    Cheers :victory:

  5. This statement is just hilarious..." Im not gay either. I know ppl will say "yes you are! you sucked a [censored]!!". But no, thats what it took to make me realize I dont like guys" ... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

He's smokes a meat cigar and says he is not gay... mmm let's see :g: ....100% of the homo population suck [censored]...0% of the hetero population don't (and an unknown % do it in the closet...but those are homos in the closet)...so...one can accurately say...with a 100% certainty...yep,you are gay...ah...you are a bodybuilder...then the accuracy goes to 110% :bleh:

  6. If she is THE lady (at least the one of the current year)...Paris, no doubt. (Prepare your wallet though. But you should be able to find good lodging values close to the School of Medicine or even close to the Place des Vosges :g: )

In case you dated her for less than 2 weekends rent "La vie en Rose" or "Sabrina"...show her Paris and buy yourself a gen sub! :D

  7. The Guy tries to continue the auction as nothing is going wrong with it.... he canceled my bid also Bravo's bid has cancelled..

    John

Hello guys, I don't want to highjack the thread, but now that we are at it...can you please report this cocky son of a gun? He's selling an LV rep (just like PT's) and he's been a [censored]-o on the email...I wonder why...here's the thread I started on Auction Scams...

    Yet another LV rep ...

We should organize a task force

  8. Iam using the [censored] off account (I have this account for reporting fakes and to win auctions that are scams so my regulat account is not spoiled) !!! i am the curent high bidder right now and i will be till the end as i have used ehmm 50.000$ as my high bid so i supose no one will pay more for an ETA Rollie....

Hope no one will outbid me :Jumpy: .

After i win this i will tell you my experience with the seller ....

    John

YOU GOTTA LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! :Jumpy: I was going to email you about it...didn't you win the Omega PO last week? It was a 3rd generation rep...did you pay in monopoly money?

    Cheers

  9. he is a replica collector like us

I have to agree with Kanerich...you MUST BE JOKING right? I don't know where your morals are ... as per your quoted appreciation he may very well be like you, but not like me and not like the vast majority of members of this forum...like I said...this is FRAUD...the stupidity or ignorance of the honest buyer will not condone it. :yucky:

    Alex

  10. I've got a funny feeling that he may be acting as the buyer to avoid problems - not sure by a long way but it's possible...

It could be possible, but it is usually the case when the auction is kept private...they jack up the prices and then they offer it to the highest real bidder saying that the winner pulled or never paid...etc etc.

    A :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. why you reported him to ebay?

he is a replica collector like us

maybe he want sell his watch not for so much money? It is his mistake that so much stupid ebayer bid so much money for a replica watch?

    leave him alone

i think he will cancel this deal and has enough problems with the buyer in next time...

Not really, he is not selling it as a 'hommage' watch but as a Rolex... He covered himself by showing the movement and specifying it as ETA...so he is betting on the stupidity of others. Still, he is selling it as a Rolex -check the specs-...that is :g: ...mmm....ah, yes...fraud. For every one we shut down...10 more appear :bleh:

    Cheers

    Alex

PS: this is my comment to the seller...I couldn't resist asking the question...

This is by far the most money I have seen being paid for an ETA movm't...not a Rolex 'in house' movement....is the case, tube and crown genuine at least?

    :drunk:

  12. I don't know about you guys but I hate this kind fraud, the I-can't-help-it-if-prople-don't-have-rolex-movements-memorized excuse, more than I hate outright fraud. This guy's a scammer and a weasel. 99.99% of the earth's population is too busy working to pay their bills than become WIS's and this seller knows it.

Actually, even worse, 90% of the population of this planet makes less than $100/month... :wounded1: I got into a pissing contest with another scammer a couple of days ago...he swore on the 'head of my children' that it was real...but would not put pictures of the movement or additional pictures of the LV...we ended up insulting each other via ebay mail. :Jumpy: I after reporting 10 or so over the past month...and seeing some of them going all the way to the end of the auction...I realized that sellers and buyers deserve one another...buying an LV on the bay to save a couple of thousand bucks? They are paying for the fantasy and delusion of wearing a 'real LV'...other prey on that character flaw or insecurity and make a lot of money in one shot ...it has been the way of humans in general for ever...I buy my reps knowing them as reps...I buy my gens knowing them as gens and for that ...like it or not...I go to an AD... :yucky:

    Cheers

    Alex

  13. I tend to agree with you. Normally a seller would claim the item was 100% genuine, verified etc, he does none of that. Unsurprisingly he hasn't responded to my offer of visiting an AD.

It's genuine ETA alright... we should let PT know that his reps are selling well on the bay...I must have reported at least 5 fake LV's in one week...oh well, another one

    Cheers

    Alex

  14. You are absolutely right...BIG DENIAL...a 'HOMMAGE" :bangin: ...I told this guy to better specify that this is a fantasy Marina Militare Comex whatever....before he gets grilled by the hardcore legion of WIS at TZ...he replied: "no, no, this is a hommage version"....Ok, I'm going to mod my hommage 'Explorerrrr' now while wearing my hommage submariner...

Josh should reinvent his store as 'Perfect-Hommages' and Andy should be the 'TrustyHommageGuy'

    Cheers :drunk:

  15. Hola Edge

I actually followed the recommendations on your thread but I think this particular insert has a glossy coating on the surface that makes it impermeable to anything. :black_eye: I'll try bleach later on today!! I'll post the post experiment pictures...

    Cheers :drunk:

Glad to see you managed to get it done, and I know you posted in this thread already but here is the thread regarding vintagizing the bezel insert, which is a reasonably simple process, with some good examples from Myself, and Ubi at this point, but hopefully some good examples from Repaustria soon, as well as some NOT SO GOOD examples of what happens if you leave it in too long from both me and Ubi.

    VINTAGIZE YOUR BEZEL INSERT

  16. I have a Client who has one of the best Law Firms I work for. He has been buying what he believes to be Cuban cigars from a local bartender. I think they are fake.

Is anyone knowledgeable about this sort of thing? Is there a source known to sell genuine Cubans? Are they more dangerous/difficult to have sent than rep watches?

    Thanks for any help.

    Bill

    Hello Bill,

I only get my cubans from the duty free shop....(myself and traveling friends) Apparently is much easier to get cubans in Florida (no pun intended) and maybe your bartender has a source there. The one person to ask is your local tobacconist...mine used to get a few now and then and kept me posted...but then I moved.

Another way to get them was to have them shipped without the labels and paper rings...those can in turn be mailed in a regular envelope separately... I've learned however and IMHO, that the non-cubans that taste more like cubans are the Davidoffs grand cru (I like #4 or #3)...

    Hope this helps...somehow :victory:

    PM sent...after 700club's post

    Cheers

    Alex
