  1. I've played the guitar for about 32yrs now. I'm pretty good but I think after you here this young fella play you will (like I did) feel just a bit intimidated by this guy! I was blown away. What do you think??

Blown away too...great technique but what amazes me is this kid's musicality... :whistling: amazing!

    Nice find! :victory:

  2. My (uneducated) guess is an MBW with an 'ubinsert' :D (the date is just a tad misaligned...but the font is excellent) ... how do I know...I have one just like that...(thanks to Randy :victory: )

In any case, (real uber-MBW or real rolex...- this is not in the rep category for sure-) a beautiful piece...the white 1680 is to my eyes nicer than the coveted red counterpart, just my .02!

    Cheers

  3. The Zigmeister! amazing surgery you performed on this watch. Have to be honest, judging from the first picture I was not convinced of the outcome...but after reading the 'process' and looking at the mandatory wristshot...suffice to say, that was a jaw dropping moment. Congratulations. The original 5508 with no CG's is THE classic Bond sub, beautiful piece! Have a great 2007 :victory:

  4. TT...THAT is a panerai I would buy...A BEAUTY... sells for $10000 (a la daytona) on Essentialwatches.com ...this is the description...

THE ORIGINAL PROTOTYPE WAS INTENDED TO BE AN OFFICER'S DECK WATCH. IT WAS LAUNCHED WITH THE REST OF THE VENDOME COLLECTION IN 1997, WITH BLACK, WHITE OR BLUE DIALS, IN A TOTAL OF 400 PIECES FOR ALL VARIANTS. THE MARE NOSTRUM USED A HAND-WIND ETA 2801-2 WITH A CHRONOGRAPH MODULE FROM DUBOIS-DEPRAZ

    Still an ETA but

  5. Nice ad By-Tor...I know you are an Omega fan... :victory: Interestingly someone told me that during the movie...Mr Bond was asked if he wore an expensive watch like a Rolex and he replied "no, I wear an Omega"... Talk about product placement... ...funny thing is ...this is a prequel of the 007 series...and the character is tough, with an assassin like demeanor and attitude...just like Ian Fleming depicted him in the books...(where he invariably wore a Rolex Sub and drove a Bent) ...Daniel Craig commented on this on an interview (I think it was pbs) and after the word Rolex flew out of his mouth ... he gasped for air trying to bring the word back in

    Cheers

  6. And 90% of gen owners do the same. The sticker is ugly and nobody likes it anyhow.

Yep...for some reason people obsess about the hologram on the sticker...I remember wearing my gen datejust *(no sticker) and handing it over to a friend...the FIRST thing he looked for...was the sticker in the back. He asked about it and got the same answer... -Do you wear your new suits with the label stitched to the sleeve and the all the price tags hanging from the seams?- :bleh:

    Cheers :victory:

  7. Nice watch and great work from Tommy... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Replace the Datewheel to a bolder one...

Pic up a gen Insert and its perfect...

Look at Sherringtons or my Sd...

The bold font on the date and a gen Insert makes much difference..

Thanks guys...! :yeah: your opinions are always appreciated...

@ Tribal...That is exactly right! I could not source a datewheel with a bolder font but I'm definitely in the lookout :wounded1: ...same with the insert... but as By Tor says this is one of THE vintages to have. :victory:

@ By Tor...Thank you! your advice has always been spot on... and this has not been an exception :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Cheers!

Inspired by my good friend By-Tor (and in no way attempting to write a full review..) and other senior members  ...I wanted to share with you some pictures of what I call the MBW 1665 'P' for Palpatine...Tommy is a true artiste and modded this watch with superb craftmanship. Thanks Tommy :victory:

    This is what was done

    Crown guards shaping

    New insert

Dial aging (tritium look of markers) -

Hands aging matching the dial markers

  9. ...good simple improvements...IMHO I think upgrading bezel inserts is one of the more noticeable mods for subs and the like...you can find decent inserts with decent pearls on the bay...I used RaymondLeejewelers'(Fl, US) inserts in the past...they are $17.95/each...just my 0.02 :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  10. Actually, no. Joshua has two models of the same new seadweller. The perfect model and the classic model. The perfect is supossed to be 1:1 rep. The classic is a little less expensive. I am wondering if anyone has joshua's classic and what their expereinces are.

    Andres

The 'classic' version that Josh and Andrew sell (I have one) has a standard submariner case 41 x 11.5mm (as opposed to the 41x14 mm) so the case depth is not correct and is noticeable. :wounded1: ..what do I do? this: Sea Dweller

    Hope this helps :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. Well, this is exactly what TTK means when he's talking about degradation of women! You all see them as decorations to hang a watch on.

I'm setting you guys straight and turning this thread around! We want STRONG women as female ideals for our daughters.

I give you Mrs Brass Balls herself; Janet Reno, sporting an IWC because she likes to be ON time!

All the other women here are procrastinators and I am sure they are VERY late for appointments.

And Linder told me IWC's are for girls!

:lol::lol: This thread should be permanently pinned!
