  1. the tool sucks ass, dont waste your money, i got it today, did nada, the bits dont grab at all

Thanks so much for all the info guys.. appreciate it.

I got the caseback off (well my watchmaker/repairer did with a press thing of some sort) and to my excitement the movement was as expected. ETA 7750 with the running seconds at 9:00 as it is a pre 2000. I know the subdials are spaced really far apart so what now would this movement be good for???

  2. I had a hell of a time opening my WM 1680. I finally put it in a movement holder and then clamped the movement holder in the vice in my workshop. Then I was finally able to press down on the Bergeon tool with enough pressure to get the caseback to turn to open- turning counterclockwise, of course.

My only other thought would be to take a flat piece of duct tape and press it on the caseback and then put the bergeon tool on that and try to turn it. That way you wouldn't be scratching the caseback and the added stick-um of the duct tape might help. And make sure you can get up on it so you can put some pressure on it.

Ofrei or Jules Borel sell the watch press tool for opening Rolex casebacks- $70-80 as I recall.

Thanks for all the info guys.. I tried the duct tape on the caseback then the bergeon tool today as well to no avail..

I dont get it. it seems that the for some reason the chucks just wont fit.

the 29.5mm chuck is too big.. weird seeing as how I have 2 rolex reps /1 genuine rolex that opens fine. and the 28.3mm chuck just doesnt fit correctly.hmmmmmmmm

  3. I cannot for the life of me get the caseback off of a daytona I was given to strip the eta movement out of it. Bergeon tool not working, dont want to strip anything but it appears the die I use on other rolex casebacks doesnt fit(a tad too small, it doesnt lock with the teeth, just spins).. This watch did sit in a drawer for a few years so I bet it is stiff as hell....

tried rubber gloves/ducttape...wont budge.. other then take it to my jeweler, anyone have any sugestions?

    Thx

  4. i have to call [censored] on this one! the 183h retailed for $4,300.00 in 2005. john bull discounts their panerai's by 10% so the best price you could have got that watch for is $3,870.00. you are saying that you got this watch for 40% off ... c'mon?. in fact they have one right now in stock for $3,915.00. nice try.

Sorry bro ( if I can call you that) $3000 on the TAG, I still have it along with the receipt.

If it was an error then it was an error. Im looking at it right now.

  5. hi guys, there is not much in nassau for reps. one place that used to carry them has stopped. the last time i was in and asked about them, they said they were going to stop selling the rep watches but they still had a few. the lady brought me out 4 rolex reps from the back. i really don't know what to look for in rolex so i wasn't interested and it didn't sound like much of a deal ... $100 each or something? anyway feel free to ask again. the name of the place is athena. it is actually a very good greek cafe upstairs and they have a shop downstairs with jewellery and handbags etc. you will also find maybe one or two other shops that carry reps but you really have to look for them. sometimes they have them and sometimes they don't. now if you are looking for rep handbags ... that is a different story! i can't guarantee how good the quality will be but they have all of the big names including louis vuitton, gucci, prada, coach, kate spade etc. if you want to try on some nice genuine watches, go to john bull. there is one right downtown as well as atlantis. they carry pretty much everything including panerai. don't feel bad about wearing your panerai reps in either ... the people are clueless. also, if by chance you are interested in buying a genuine. this is the place! there is no duty on watches therefor the prices are much better here than anywhere else. please feel free to pm me if you have any further questions or concerns. take care and have a great trip.

John Bull on Bay Street is the place to deal. (They wont deal as much at paradise island.) I was there in December 2005 and purchased a gen PAM183H for $2600 cash with boxes/papers etc. Listed tag was $3000.

I was also offered a nice 16613 listed for $6500 for $1800 with my 16710 as on the spot trade..

Didnt do that thou as I love my gen 16710.

There are reps to be found in the market by Senor Frog's (restaurant) but they are all terrible and cheap.

    have fun and happy shopping....

  6. I love my TT1 (Der Meistertaucher)dive master...

For me it's the new Big Crown Telemeter- it features a telemeter scale on the dial that allows the user to time optical and acoustical events such as thunder and ligthning, which will prove that you really do have way too much time on your hands. But it's a great looking new timepiece all the same from Oris. Retails at a little over 2 grand but can be had at Redfingerprint for around $1250

  7. Well Im a newbie to this forum (post on TRC) so be gentle with me please :)

I guess the glue didnt stick too well on my EL TT sub. good thing I have a bezel protector or it might have fell off and got lost.

I have the hypocement to stick it back on, and the tools..

I just have a few questions to ask.

    1. should I try to remove the TT bezel or not? I have read it can be done with the bezel on the watch so what is best? I dont want to mark up the TT bezel...

    2. I have to remove the old glue from the insert and bezel, what is the best way to do it --hairdryer??

    3. does the bzel insert have to be aligned in any way like a gen would? I have never turned the bezel at all so can I just glue it back in and adjust the bezel after by rotating it to have pearl @ 12?

Any help or assistance is truely appreciated.

    Thanks
