  1. Two of those who left feedback say he is a scammer. It would be a rare buyer who would be able to tell a Clark 127 from a gen - I have them here side by side and I can't tell any difference. Like you the gen parts without the packaging makes me VERY skeptical. Bill
  2. Well, given a reasonable amount of quinine for malaria and lime for scurvey (with the gin necessary to make the recipe work), the dog and I can pile into my 4wd Suburban and get anywhere we need to go! That's Chevy's version of a tank! In all seriousness, the winds have subsided and there is rain in the forecast so I think things will be OK. We sure had a lot of acreage burn up here. Yesterday, there was some everywhere I could see from my house. Bill
  3. I have only bought a hundred or so from Josh - ditto. Bill
  4. It's interesting - the cops act like they have the authority to order you out until you make it clear you aren't leaving. I just closed my gate - they cannot do a thing. OTOH, they have no responsibility to you either if things go bad. Bill
  5. If you are working hard to steel yourself against both malaria and scurvey, you can post earlier! Bill
  6. LOL -- I'm right in the middle of that fire in the news - I needed a good laugh! Evac has been ordered but I am not going anywhere - they can't make you. My house is paid for so I'm self insured . . . no options. Bill
  7. Obviously, a cheap POS rep - if not, anyone seeing it on your wrist will think it is. The big problem I'd have, is all the people seeing it in my wirstwondering if I was gay. Bill
  8. http://www.fraudsandscams.com/Rolex/96-170_2006-02-28_USA-Pleading.pdf It's been an ongoing war since 1954 Bill
  9. This is, IMHO, the absolute truth. You may not know this, but Rolex has been the subject of governmental action here for years regarding the way they fix prices. They sell I really fine $500-1000 USD watch, but they control prices to a ridiculous extent. Buy the top quality rep - the quality without the price fixing. Bill
  10. You might try Joshua - I believe he has some special arrangement for getting things delivered in the UK. Email him at: perfect88clones@gmail.com I don't know how his versions of that sub compare to the others, or which of his is best. If it was me, rather than wade thru all those listings, I would just ask him. Here's the sub page on his web site. http://www.1-pc8838.com/submariner-latest-ranges-c-55_64_414.html Good luck Bill
  11. Just thought I'd wear something I have never worn before: I'm not actually sure what this is, where I got it or when, but it looks like I put a T-39 on it, one of these better military bezel inserts that I like, and a gen crown. Something different for Easter Sunday, and then back to my Ziggied 1680. If anyone can give me anymore info about this watch, PLZ email me at TJGladeRaider@aol.com Bill
  12. Yes indeed it does . . . I sure miss my PAM GMT with the 2893 in it. Bill
  13. Yep, you are exactly right - I got my numbers confused. I was thinking the 1665 was the 1655 Steve McQueen case which is why I couldn't figure out what a He valve was doing in it. Bill
  14. I think I've mentioned this before - but it's funny. Shortly after I married my lovely little wifey from South America - she definitely has that Indian look as opposed to Spanish - she said, "You know about those Africans and shrinking heads?" I said "Sure." She said, "That wasn't Africans - look it up." I can just see the cute little Indian tooling around in my convertible with a shrunken head hanging from the rear view mirror. I sure do like that SM 300! You wouldn't consider a trade would you? Bill
  15. Great work, and great pictures. That gen crown switch is essential, along with the lugs. Isn't it amazing how those two things alone change that watch? Like you, I favor that Clark Superdome. To me, it makes the watch. I also like the superlume - people can say what they want about vintage lume being long dead, but if mine were gens, they'd have have the kind of lume job Ziggy does. The ones he has done for me are just great, and they stay great all night long. I know you will enjoy your watch. Bill
  16. These are my MBWs, but people also talk about cases from Yuki and some other sources too. I put the military style bezel inserts in these just because I like the look on the no date subs. There are other cases out there that give you more to work with insofar as the crown guards, and they have gen parts interchange capabilities as well. For example, since that first picture was taken, I installed a Clark T-39 Superdome (gen replacement) in the gilt dial version. Also, compare the crown guards on these two to the gen pic that was posted, and then look at the one you are considering. Whatever case you go with, you won't believe the difference a gen crown will make. Good luck and welcome to this bunch of addicts! Bill
  17. I have a new 1665 Case Set from MBW that's a little weird - it has a bogus He valve scribed into the case. Evidently, that's what Maria was using for the COMEX - but the case says 1665. On the other hand, this was a replacement case they sent me for one I broke off a tap in so maybe Maria just scribed the He in a 1665 case - who knows. When I take a bracelet off one of my others, I'll look. In any event, in looking through the posts here, there seem to be several people out to make the vintage GMT project work using the 2893 movement and the 1665 case. If anyone ever does figure out how to make that work, please let me know because it wouldn't bother me one little bit to have this He valve on an otherwise perfectly nice vintage GMT - or maybe I'll just make a GMT capable COMEX. I know, I'm a heretic . . . Bill
  18. Enough is enough! First, you put me in the position to have to avoid the watch sales threads, and now you sneak that link into another thread -- have some pity on a brother who can resist anything but temptation! You trying to get me divorced? I sure do love that watch. Bill
  19. I do - Ziggy did several for me, including the one I am wearing. GREAT lume. Vac is about to do a Pam for me - I'll post pics. Bill
  20. Now that's funny - and I needed a funny this Friday afternoon! Bill
  21. Yo Ben, you're making me want that watch back. Screw that slight vintage lume - if it was gen, it would be toally dead and who would have it relumed slightly. Make that thing glow like a torch. I love mine! I could hold my arm up in the theater and a fellow in the back row could announce the time. Ziggy did a fabulous job on everything he did for me. Bill
  22. Joshua has a wonderful track record here that is mirrored by my personal experiences with him. For that movement to crap out like that, something is very wrong. I have a PAM I got from him with the 2892 several years ago - it keeps time as perfectly as any mechanical watch, and it gets a lot of wrist time. I'd certainly contact Josh and see what he says - he needs to know about this in any event. Bill
  23. I can't remember off hand what they call those fancy Sub dials with the jewels on them, but I discovered that I acquired some of those rep dials somewhere along the way - new in the box. I have no idea when or why. Does anyone out there happen to be looking for one of those? Bill
  24. I was wondering about that myself. Personally, I wouldn't make a remark about sanity around you . . . I understand that your Momma did that once and just look at what she made you do! Bill
