  1. "Who makes the best Sub," ... sorry, just couldn't help myself. It's been a long time since I posted. The divorce and having to sell off my precious MBW collection a couple of years back just put me way out of the mood I guess. Anyway, just wanted to say, "Hi," to any of the old guys who may still be around. I'm glad to see that this Forum is still alive and well. Bill
  2. I have read these things ... for years and years ... and I can never help thinking, "What must it be like to make a living as a dealer?" If I had to deal with these disputes all the time, I'd set my hair on fire and run screaming into the woods! Bill
  3. I wouldn't even know where to begin, but ... Let's just say that, in th end, I suppose the divorce was well worth it. Bill
  4. I hate to "pick your nits" but you cannot make a blanket statement like that - laws vary DRAMATICALLY from one jurisdiction to the other. Bill
  5. Incredible ... all this complaining about mere scammers, yet I see you guys have made that wicked Nanuq a moderator ... don't you people know what that maniac has done to beautiful watches! Maybe he's a reformed man? Bill
  6. I wish there was a good rep of this watch! I think my Pam 028 may be the best Pam rep ever. Bill
  7. One of my clients gave me a Pam 088 GMT for Christmas. It's a beautiful watch, and it ought to be since he paid $8700 for it, but I find myself wearing my Pam 028 PVD - the really nice rep with the 2892 movement instead. As many of you know, I don't generally have anything to do with gens so I haven't had any experience liquidating them. Would I be better off to take this to a local high end watch shop, or put it on ebay, or what? Any advice would be appreciated. Bill
  8. I am confused . . . but what else is new. I have recently purchased a PAM 360 handwind Asian 6497 that has no seconds hand. Is this the problem you are talking about? Bill
  9. Personally, I like the TW Best version with the lug holes. I have several of them - built like a tank with a case back like a manhole cover. Bill
  10. I bought what appears to be this same wallet at LV in Paris a couple of years ago. It is one VERY nice wallet. I don't know who Bergies is -- how could I get one from him? Bill
  11. I'm looking for a recommendation. I need to p/u a couple of watches of the top shelf rep variety - probably a Rolex or a Pam (no more wire lugs for me!). I really like the Rolex Pro Hunter DSSD, but Josh tells me that the expected versions with SL are not yet available. Anyone have the current offering - how good is that lume? Maybe the answer would be to buy it and send it to Vac. I do want gen Swiss movements. Thoughts anyone? Thanks, Bill
  12. I travel a lot, London, Paris, Middle East, Panama . . . never a problem even though I always have three, the one on my wrist, and two in a watch case. I also always carry with me a picture of one of my kids holding the watches before leaving. Just snap it with your cell phone and you're good to go. Bill
  13. I'd love to see someone produce a Super Lumed GMT with a genuine GMT movement. Bill
  14. His work is every bit that good, and he is honest. Some may recall that a favorite, virtually irreplaceable watch was lost in the mail on the way to him - PVD PAM with ETA 2892. With no way to track it (my bad), I gave up on it and he knew it. It arrived several weeks late having traveled the "scenic route" - the USPO messed up. He could have kept this very expensive piece, and there are those who would. When I got it back, the lume was PERFECT. Under a loop I would expect nothing better from a gen, and it lasts all night. I cannot recall what he charged me, but it was reasonable - cheap actually, since it exceeded my expectations dramatically. Bill
  15. Respectfully, I disagree -- there are two purposes/benefits here that I can see. 1. This guy is new. He does not know, and could not know, what his options might be. He is telling us about the problem, explaining what he believed to have been his best option, and thereby invited anyone with an opinion and/or observation to make recommendations. 2. This has also generated a great deal of useful discussion as to how best to deal with problems here. Third parties reading the responses, especially others who are new, would understand that list members overwhelmingly agree that certain other reactions, reactions that we have all seen from time to time, are inappropriate and disapproved. Just my .02 Bill
  16. Personally, I like the way this issue is broached. Most new guys with 85 posts start screaming fraud when something doesn't arrive in a week, or breaks - or else they just sit and absorb the loss, wondering if that's the way things are. By all means, run the story by an Admin, see what they say, and go from there. Bill
  17. Why not get the MBW version -- everything fits, and they hold their value. Bill
  18. If he's going to dive 6000Ft+, he might as well take his rep with him. Nothing like a real world field test! LOL Bill
  19. I have these sitting here in front of me with Swiss ETA 2836. The first is the military style bezel insert on an MBW 5513 Original Polex Design with rivet bracelet. I can put a new stingray bracelet on it with a stainless deplyment clasp. I'd sell this for about the same money they want on those websites for cheap fakes $600 It's the one on the left in the last picture. I also have the NATO version that I'd let go for $300.
  20. Welcome to the Forum, but you should have stayed away! This is ADDICTING! First you buy a rep, then you by more reps in search of the perfect rep, then you spend a ton of money creating the perfect rep from an existing rep . . . and the next thing you know, your head is full of information about crystals, movements, cases, dials . . . arghhhhhhhh. LOL That's a nice looking watch. Enjoy! Bill
  21. You should have been more clear dude - most people don't know that you did that before you started wearing it! Animal! Bill
  22. His is the old Maria case - I got it from him back in the day when I wa sone of his best customers. It should make a real fine watch. Bill
  23. I am going thru this myself. I sent a watch to a list member in France a month ago. The tracking number shows that it was shipped, and made it as far as US Customs, but the USPS is telling me that they have no other tracking info than that. Since the buyer asked that I declare a nominal value, there was no insurance (can't insure for more than declared value). Anyone have any experience sending things to France from USA. Bill
  24. Vac has been doing work for me. I'm picky, and his work has been perfect. Bill
  25. It is a subjective response to objective cognitive dissonance on the part of the responder. hmmmmmmmmmmm ; ) Bill
