  1. As someone has already mentioned, this build is pure class. Congratulations on completing this striking new project.
  2. In identical (externally) models, the price difference is normally created by the movement inside. Quartz is cheapest .. then Asian 21j models, and then Swiss copies and then genuine Swiss movements. That is a large price range, generated by the movement.
  3. Texski: Yes; I know what hyperbole is. And it looks like you know exactly what a straw man is, as well. Good job beating up on imaginary arguments, in order to to stare me down. I am delighted to have been missed completely by every single point you made. I've been posting to the Internet since '92 and have come to be able to sense all too well when someone's doctor is still trying to balance their mood medication. I bid you good day, Sir.
  4. Bell & Ross make watches designed to look like classic aircraft instruments. That's a B&R model 01-94 chronograph.
  5. Oh I love the "Jet Age" GMT hand .. what a classic design element you've picked out and used.
  6. Welcome! and yes, that watch repair kit from member "Offshore"'s store "Watchbitz" is the way to go is you are already Down Under.
  7. Price range is a factor here. If have have a mountain of cash then certainly, grab this classic replica as you suggest.
  8. They think the hands are ridiculous on the Gen and the replica.
  9. You know I would not send RWG members over there if a 7750 repair smith was available in North America without personal recommendations from current clients. You understand why I can not send someone I don't know, with 39 posts to the Zigmeister, right?
  10. Search for Jules Borel, Otto Frei on Google .. they have web stores where you can buy movements. Save the old movement, you MAY need to transfer the hours, minutes and seconds hand gears from it to the new movement. (height differences) Movement PDF on Jules Borel A 2813 is $14 ... a 4813 is $19
  11. Yes, unless you absolutely need one right away, then wait a few months for the new ultimate 1950 rep to come out.
  12. Can't get enough of that Fiddy. I'm very curious about the upcoming "super ultimate" 1950 from the Cartel's factory.
  13. Portable units work great if you have the proper type of window with which to vent them.
  14. Do you really want to return a watch to China over cosmetic issues? Either do this yourself or have someone do it for you ... touch up the marks in the brushed finish by lightly re-brushing them. Open the watch and puff the dust off the dial .. As for the clasp .. the PO is notorious for clasp issues. It's common to the breed. There are tutorials here for adjusting the clasp. You seem to have been around here long enough to know that this is what replica watches are ... flawed ... and Im disappointed that someone with 3 years under their belt doesnt know this yet.
  15. I'm very glad to hear your success story. I don't have a charming veteran watchmaker here .. my luck is with a veteran tailor within brief walking distance of my doorstep. You take your luck as you can get it, I suppose.
  16. This is without a doubt the most absurd complaint I have ever heard. Drop to your knees and thank your maker that this community has people like Concepta. I have never bought one of his pieces and probably never will but I know what someone whom I should admire looks like.
  17. You certainly are a quick study! Congratulations to you on wading in and figuring out so much in less than a day. If you end up with a mechanical chronograph watch, be aware that more than likely it will need professional servicing and that there are such professionals here on the Forums who can suit your needs. Don;t despair if it begins to malfunction within a few months. These are complicated machines and come from China with questionable assembly practices. A high quality servicing will set that all to rights, however, and set you on the path to years of trouble-free "watching."
  18. Are there center drills small enough for this task? They certainly would be less likely to walk, and can start your hole with precision.
  19. Welcome to the Forums! Please post photos of your collection?
  20. and that's why it's called "Bangkok" You meet a pretty girl, take her home .. and BANG .. cock.
  21. The trusted watchsmith on RWI who accepts 7750s has a public price chart as well as a photographic breakdown of his service techniques.
  22. Read the second line of my answer
  23. More power to you. Send us pics when you are done swapping your new china clone for an a21j and have it all assembled. I'm look forward to viewing these impressive photographs,
  24. $175 for service, and how much is the cost with tracking for return shipping to China? And if he has to replace a lost watch ... He will receive another poorly assembled Chinese chronograph for his money.
  25. Watch Idiot-Savant. An idiot-savant is someone who has crippling retardation but somehow has super-human knowledge and ability in one specific area such as music or mathematics.
