  2. Good Thread! Stories are what make this place great!
  3. It would have worked better with He said, but that's not the quote
  4. Wow Lani - Your collections always impresses me...
  5. Still wearing my Franken PO....I liked it before the mods, and now I reeaaaalllly like it
  6. Nice looking watches jojo, are these which rep dealer did you get these from? Just kidding...they truly are incredible! The aging is really nice!
  7. Thanks - your bezel ain't bad either I can't figure our why the factories can't make a better bezel/pearl. I don't even mind the bad coloring, just center the stupid thing!
  8. A freshly frankened 42mm Planet Ocean for me....
  9. Thanks Red! Definitely a keeper - I have too much money into it to let it go
  10. Well if anybody has been following my posts about my 42mm P.O. you are already aware that I am in the process of building a Franken in the likes of Ubiquitous'. As it was my first adventure of this type, I was a little nervous...there are a lot of small parts...the large pictures that people take make this very deceiving...everything is soooo small...but...I am done (well at least for now)....and here are the results and a step through process of what I've done to date... 1. The original clasp was bugging me so I bought a genuine clasp and clasp attaching links.. 2. Next, I decided that it was time to get rid of the ugly pearl and bezel, I had a couple of "interim" bezels and pearls from ebay, but they didn't satisfy me, so, I went with the genuine article... 3. I was going to stop at the bezel, but after closer inspection of Ubi's I realized that the Dial, Date wheel, and Hands had to go as well...so...more genuine parts on the way...and here is how the process went...I made only one mistake...drinking a cup of coffee prior to starting...nothing quite like jittery hands to slow putting small parts together Let's get started... Case opened Decased Hand's Off Dial Off (I was expecting two screws holding the dial pins, but instead found swinging levers that slid into the pins to tighten everything up) Date Wheel Off New Date Wheel installed Here come's the new Dial Dial Installed New Hands On (The Second hand is totally different in color...the Genuine is Orange, the rep is red...) Everything cased up and...a Wristie for good measure!
  11. +1 for 3717, One of my first and love it!
  12. @Red these were taken with the Kit 18-55mm lens with the camera all the way in the box. I had read philosophers post and had taken the pictures at settings between 8 and 22 just to see how they turned out. It's amazing how the Aperture adjustments can change the DOF so much. I am waiting for some thunderheads to roll in so I can take some "Nature Shots" with clouds and foreground in focus... @Cats - 2 and I tried the 2 with an overhead florescent for a couple of shots...
  13. I busted out the camera and tried out my new light box, here are updated pictures of the 3717 on Nato (and my 42mm Planet Ocean)
  14. Ok, so I took Redwatch's advice and bought a lightbox. It is pretty cool. Takes a little getting used to and it would help to have a completely blacked out room, but I think these turned out ok. Please give me any advice/criticism you deem fit I am still working on reflections and white balance...I'll get 'er figured out soon enough...
  15. These really are great! I am jealous, but I thought I should include one of mine... ok, so I don't know who it is, but she's cute, right?
  16. Site your source! (Don't know if this counts, but it was the first thing that came to mind)
  17. I got it too...and I bought several watches from their site... I am sure they're totally credible
  18. Thanks All! It's definitely growing on me! I showed the wife and she said, well...it looks like you spent a lot of money on a nice watch and then bought a $7 kids strap. I replied..."Well, you are right about the $7" I guess she'll never understand...
