  1. hahaha That was a fun post! I too fell in love with a PO just to break off a couple of pins in her [censored] trying to resize her. I have 2 different style pin tools but neither are quite long enough to push the pins our far enough for easy removal. I always end up having to use a pair of pliars to finish the job. Anybody have a suggestion on where to track down a Pin Pusher tool with a long enough pin to push these out...say something longer than say 4mm???
  2. So I bought a $7 Nato strap and put it on my 3717. I think it looks pretty cool, but I am kinda undecided. Take a look let me know what you think...I'll try to post some better pics this evening...all I had on my was my iPhone...
  3. Nice Pics Red! Clever idea using the car as a "watch holder" for the shots! I can't wait for my light box to come in so I can try it out...maybe something similar - i have lots of car models I can use
  4. Thanks Ubi - You are correct this will be helpful to lots of people who are looking for a how to change eta datewheel. Hopefully that last little bit will help the server find this thread when people are searching! Once you press that part down, will it stay down or will I need to keep pressure on it while I pull off the datewheel?
  5. Ahhhhhhhhh. Now I see. I am now convinced about the dial and hands. The thinner indices alone are worth it. Any chance you could post a picture or point me to a picture of your endlinks and first link spacing? I am curious to see how big of a gap the gen has...Does the ETA datewheel have a thicker font?
  6. Hey Ubi - What are the differences between the Gen DIal/Hands and the reps? Just lume or???
  7. @hounddoggie - where are you staying at in Kaanapali...the Westin has the best breakfast buffet I've ever eaten! And there pool is ok too....
  8. Yeah amazing what a difference a stupid little pearl makes...I had gotten used to a "rounded" pearl like the ones on the aftermarket bezels I found, but the Gen is completely flat and glows like a torch...the rep hands on this model glow really brightly too...almost as bright as the pearl. The lume on the dial though is really faint.....
  9. Yeah I like that idea too, make the 4th Gen case available as a "bare bones" system with just the case, crystal, and movement, and maybe the bracelet...than you could just buy the rest of the parts and save some of the expense
  10. From my understanding (I've never done it), it is not a direct fit...takes some mods...
  11. I want one of Lani's malasadas...I love going to Maui (I've been 6 times) and had decided never to go back to Oahu because of my love affair with Maui, but I think I just found a reason to go back !
  12. I actually ended up going with one from the bay for a little more $$$, but it seemed to have more "background" options and has a little beefier tripod...but it was $26+$9 shipping...
  13. Thanks Red, and I just took your advice and bought a Light Box
  14. Things are kinda slow at work today, so I decided to take some pictures of my 4th Gen PO 42mm with its new Gen Bezel...I am using a Nikon D60 and these are shot with a combination of kit lenses, the 18-55 VR and the 55-200 VR... This is the hood ornament from a 1955 Bel Air - The car is completely original, paint, interior, etc...and only has 18K mile on it...talk about Patina
  15. Wearing my 4th Gen 42mm PO. It now has a Gen Bezel/Insert, Gen Clasp and Gen Clasp Links. More franken everday . The pearl has so much lume it kind of forces me into the Genuine Bezel and Hands...I gues those are next on the list...
  16. I posted in the wrong wrist check...oops, here it is corrected. Got in a Gen Bezel Today! YAY!
  17. I just put a Genuine Bezel on this PO, I will be wearing it for a while
  18. Yeah, he's an aircraft/automotive mechanic and he rarely removes the watch to do any work...it's definitely been well used...as for the crystal, I am not sure where he buys them...I'll have to check with him...what should the crystal be?
  19. News Alert..News Alert... I received a little package from OF today...what could it be: Anybody guess right? A new Gen Bezel for my 4th Gen PO.... Here is the original: And now for the Gen: And it fit perfectly. NO issues what-so-ever. Snapped on just like the Replica bezel...Now I have to decide what comes/goes next...
  20. Hey Its-urabus - I am still learning the lingo - does the SL stand for SuperLuminova? Did they replace the entire hands or just the lume, that is if SL is superluminova
  21. I've finally gotten around to taking some pictures of my dad's 1675. He bought it at an estate sale some 30 years ago. It's a 2,1xx,xxx serial, so I date it somewhere between 1966 and 1967, the guys here probably can verify that. The crystal and bezel are aftermarket, and the bracelet is a gen replacement, but everything else is original...I think some of the members here will enjoy the patina
  22. Mercury - Here was my process for getting it to fit: 1. Remove old bezel, and insert from bezel (be careful not to lose the spring and pin located at 12:00 in the case (almost lost mine the first time) 2. Check the fit of the insert to the crystal. The bezel insert fit too tight onto my crystal, it was really hard to rotate the insert once it was on the crystal, so I got out some 1000 grit sandpaper and sanded the inner circle of the insert until it would rotate easily around the crystal. 3. I used 2 part epoxy to glue the Insert to the Bezel (mine did not quite snap in as an original bezel and insert would). Once glued into position, I set the bezel and insert assembly onto a desk, then placed a glass ramekin (or small glass cup) and the insert and placed several heavy books on the ramekin while the epoxy dried. 4. After an hour or so, I put the bezel and insert onto the watch, vioala - perfect fit.... If there is a better way to do this, I am all ears, er...ummm...well, eyes since we're on a forum and all
