  1. If I had to stand against labor laws and abuse in china I would not have this 27'' imac I am typing on, any of my appliances, or some of the clothes I am wearing.

    It's a terrible situation there, I agree.

I do not really have the power to change an industry of 10,000,000 workers being treated poorly.

I do have the power to let people know that this issue here is not right in my opinion

    P.S.

I do not buy or support our dealers sale of boxes or papers. It's disgusting.

Agreed with everything you said. I didn't know not all dealers can source boxes and papers. I was under the impression if you asked they could get it. Never really looked into it. Just heard that the "papers" part had actual dealer info on it. Never understood why people pay for stuff like that but whatever makes them happy.

  2. you guys are absolutely right.

Insurance companies are angels and we should respect their policies while China should be abused and exploited for their labor laws so we can benefit owning amazing looking time pieces with boxes and PAPERS.

I mean, i will never pay for boxes and papers as i don't care that much but it seems to morally OK around here.

2006 guys? you both are old members who have a lot of wisdom and experience with this. Thousands of dollars worth of reps have passed through your hands who were made by..... a few kids in a barn? please, spare me the "im better than you morally" attitude.

I'm over it too. I'm just happy that if I want peace of mind knowing my watch has genuine IWC parts I have the option to prove to myself by getting an issue of authenticity... for ME and ME only.

Anyways, I am personally sorry for crapping on the OP's thread (wasn't me who started it the crapping though...).

That is a beautiful watch you ordered and I can't wait to get mine too. :)

  3. You are taking everything he says out of context to prove a point that everybody agrees with... even concepta.

Yes, its wrong to sell your concepta piece as a genuine watch just like its wrong that people sell their watchco sm300s as "NOS" watches without any mention of watchco.

Just like its wrong to sell a gen vintage Rolex without stating its been serviced and repaired 10 times through out it's life by a local watchsmith who probably replaced many parts with non-rolex certified parts... but who says that?

Its wrong to be dishonest! Agreeeeed.

Its up the individuals who own these watches to be morally responsible if they decide to sell.

This isn't some noob thing where new members are going to think "itsok" to sell these pieces as genuine. This is a morally wrong thing which is learned outside the rep world.

The dude asked if he can get it certified for INSURANCE PURPOSES. What's wrong with that?

Talk about double standard.... you are being irrational.

  4. That wasn't an counterargument ...

You proceed to imply anybody who decides to get an issue of authenticy that they will do the immoral thing and sell it.... why make such an assumption?

There's a lot of grey area and I understand your concern. I've read the same controversy over the watchco sm300s.

Anyways, this reminds be of somebody who thought our dealers should stop selling rep boxes and papers.

The mere fact that I CAN get an issue of authenticity is more peace of mind that concepta did what he said... make an ALL gen iwc.

  5. it's so cute you think you still have any :)

Haha... I actually never said I had any. :(

But people can take steps to prevent people from snooping and companies from recording private information.

If I had an iPhone I would always have it password protected and remote wipe activated.

And even if you have it password protected all you need to do is jailbreak and you have every password they have ever saved.... hence remote wipe. The only problem is a smart thief will steal it and turn it off. Get home and take out the sim card or drive to a place with no service.

Anyways, not much you can do about privacy issues today but being knowledgeable about it is the least you can do. The "I don't care" people I have no sympathy for when it comes to their accounts being hacked and their credit cards fraudulently charged.... no sympathy at all.

If you take safety precautions and care about your online identity there are a lot of preventive measures you can take.

I use last pass plus two step Google authentication .... that's enough security to where I'm just too much of a hassle for most thief's.

  6. If they don't come with spring bars, just pop into a local watch repair shop and ask for bars suited for 20mm lugs. They dont cost much at all and they work just fine. The gen ones just add a premium but look very sturdy. More important is the strap that you get :)

Thanks lobster. I was more wondering what diameter people will be getting. I just don't want them breaking on me! Especially when the watch is all gen!

As for the strap... well that's gonna be the fun part. :)

  7. Correct :)

    Will be ready very soon

Nice! Thanks concepta for the update.

What spring bars is everyone getting? I'm under the impression that anybody getting just the head doesn't come with spring bars.
