Hi all,
Just wanted to ask if anyone knew a good source for buying gen manufacturer watch boxes? Apart from eBay that is. I just picked up a gen Seamaster for a buddy's wedding gift and its in great condition, but the box is badly damaged. He'll know its 2nd hand (I'll tell him) but I don

Why the hell do they rep this 24 concept rubbish??! Who the [censored] wants to wear that?
Interesting to see the first a7750 monaco though. And the gurus were right ... look how thick this bastard is.
Compared to gen:

Just bought one. Only 4 left now.

Hi folks. I'm starting to think my ever growing rep collection maybe needs some chunky PAM lovin'. I've never even handled one though so I'm not completely sure they are for me. So instead of dropping $400 on something high quality but that I may not want to wear, I thought I'd ease into things with a cheapo in the $100-150 price range.
I've been looking at some of King's range including this one for $145:
I'm definately keen on PVD and will have to buy a nice strap seperately.
What are the favorite sub $150 PAMs of the experts that hang out in this mysterious part of RWG?
Thanks heaps for your help and recommendations. I think this could end up being a very useful thread for PAM newbies like myself.
Alternatively if anyone has an old piece lying around they want to get rid of, shoot me a PM!

So there is zero diffence in build quality? Its the exact same case/dial/braclet?

I assume ur looking for all black watches to pull of a look like this?
Hahahah ....
Thats a Bell & Ross Airborne he's wearing.
-
I've been considering a gen Bell & Ross Phantom for a while. Cheap reps are avaliable but none with lume, which kinda defeats the point of this design.
There is a fantasy rep with grey (not black) details and lume though, I've just ordered one from King as a test run before I think seriously about the gen.

I'm a freelance producer/director and graphic designer, so the closest I get to interviews is meeting new clients for the first time. This is anything from a coffee shop in jeans to a board meeting in a suit (tailored or last season's designer stock on sale), I only have a handful of reps but I pretty much always pick my SS Carrera Day Date (Black) and thats because I dont want to be flashing a Rolex around when we start talking about budgets and hourly rates. In the current economic climate I like to push that I'm squeezing every little bit I can out of every pound they spend; wearing a Rollie doesnt really communicate this. The Tag may be just as expensive as a Sub but I dont feel it gets the same (sometimes negative) reaction from people. I see people staring at my sub, never get that with the tag.

I got a headache reading your so-called sentences.
And his spelling could use some refinement too.
And people wonder why newbies are scared to post and the activity levels are low. What did the old start page used to say? "One of the friendliest forums in cyberspace"?
Geesus.
Welcome to the hobby p-lund. Be warned its incredibly addictive so the costs do pile up, even if ur going for cheapies

Someone lend me

You know I'm quite proud that most of my threads end up being multi page.
Thanks for the experiences guys. The only detail I can get out of King is 'it use japanese movement'.
So its obviously a crap shoot, but one in which it sounds like I should do okay.

Whats the prize?

So, I could possibly belive this?
"Movement: Swiss Eta Quartz Chronograph Movement"
I just assumed it was marketing BS.
-
Yeah thats true Packard, but those cheapies dont have chrono and date functions. I'm sure that pushes up the price quite a bit.
I'd have far more faith in a non-chrono quartz, infact I'd preffer one. Hard to find though.

A while back, I had a watch which was supposed to be a PAM 187, (wildly inaccurate to the original) which had a quartz movement. I found it to be a very reliable time-keeper
So +/1 how many mins/secs a day would you guess it was?

Hey guys,
I've spent 20 minutes with the search function and cant find any decent discussions of Quartz movements that aren

I'm sure I read that somewhere. But a quick google couldnt find me any sources

But here is what he acutally chose to wear:
Doesnt stop me loving Monacos though

Yeah, he was the poster boy for Monacos, despite apparently 'hating' the watch.
In 1969, TAG Heuer broke with tradition by creating the first square-cased, water-resistant watch in the history of watchmaking. Powered by the famous Chronomatic Calibre 11, the Monaco is also the world

If its not that old you might want to send it back to the dealer?
It all depends on the movement, but TomHighWay is probably your man. I've never used him but he is the only UK based watchmaker im aware of on RWG.
-
Want to talk us through your process? I've got that exact model sitting on my wrist right now and have been intending to vintage it up for a few weeks now.

This seller has never sold any thing before and the only things hes bought have been under $25. That to me is a huge red flag. I might still try and buy if its an absolute bargin but id be taking every possible pre-caution.

Good call Halo. Thanks! Yeah there is a guy from HK selling them new for $75 inc shipping which is cheaper than used ones are going for on ebay.
Assuming its real, of course. He seems respectable though.
