  1. Well the first two samples are here... Below the images show the following... Officine Panerai Case Back Brevettato Case Back Machine Finish Backs Polished and slightly aged finish Backs Dome Plexi Flat Plexi Below: Just finished the engraving no glass has been fitted in this image and the case backs are Machine Finished (unpolished) Below: Can never make my mind up about having a Dome or Flat Plexi so here I have added one of each and will decide later. Below: A better shot of how the Dome and Flat Plexi look. The background image is a Silix 3646 case with a Thick Solid Case Backs that I've polished and aged (a little).... Below: In this image I have now Polished and aged the case backs (a little) Below: With a Miltary Marina Dial and sterile movement then this watch can be worn pretty much anywhere... Below: Two Polished and aged case backs (without plexis) Below: Same two case backs with plexi's... and I still cant make my mind up which to have, the Dome or the Flat Plexi...time for a pot of tea...
  2. Its possible the first sample will be ready this coming Friday providing everything goes to plan.... I'll try and post some images.
  3. He means the vintage version which were a solid case back...
  4. Stage 1: Case re-working...re-shaped the pillow case edges, soldered the lugs and crown tube area. Stage 2: Will be to convert the spring bar between the lugs to a fixed bar. I'll add some images when this work is completed but I cant start this part yet until the Donerix strap arrives.... so Donerix, if you are reading...get a move on... _________________________ Below: Soldered the lugs and re-shaped the edges ...time to solder the crown tube area Below: Re-shaped the pillow case edges Below: The spring bar has to go, this will be replaced by a fixed bar. Below: Next the crown thread area needs to be solder filled Below: Starting to take shape Below: The join is still visable... I could make it invisible but I think a tiny amount of re-work should be seen... Below: Crown in place and it has to be a flush fit all round. Below: The underside...now if I had a strap I would be wearing this with or without a movement...because I just love the shape.
  5. The case backs have been made for some time but not with the engraving. The other versions for cases like the silix 3646, DSN 6154, DSN 1652 can be viewed here
  6. The case backs are already made they just need engraving. If there are enough people that are interested then I will produce these backs. Ideally I need 10 people. 1) I suggest a flat plexi glass back (authentic looking) not domed, see image the watch back has a dome 2) The case backs can be machine finished or aged polished (see image: solid version and the one on the watch are polished) Engraving: These backs would be engraved the same as the authentic version using an old pantograph from the 1950's. Aged Polished Finished: this is not the bright chrome-type finish, its polished but doesnt look too shiny and new, its difficult to describe therefore see image below of the solid case back (taken off a vintage project) and also the one on the watch these are both polished. Prices: Solid Case Back: $85 available now Display no engraving: available now $95 Display with engraving: $150 Display engraved and aged polished finish: $190 Below: Polished and aged Case Back
  7. I managed to get 190 cal Angelus Clock Movement into a much smaller than normal DSN egi (55mm not the usual 60mm). I have to say its possible...but it may require a lot of work.... For step by step images of how this was done here is a link to the EGI Project
  8. Fantastic watch in every way....
  9. Been a while since I posted anything here. Well I've been busy working and made a few thick case backs ..thought I would share...thanks for looking Heres a DNS Version 3mm Version Back to Back Comparison 3mm Case back on a DNS Case Before and After type shot...
  10. Just completed the first Molnija conversion this afternoon and thought I would share with you. BEFORE DURING (first batch of 3 different bridges completed) AFTER ( all Russian serial numbers removed and the bridges re-plated in nickel)
  11. I have just published a new tutorial on modding a stem and crown, plus a tutorial from Ross McSherry on how to put an Angelus 240 into a 47 mm case. These are a couple of new additions I have made to my website, which is mainly about tutorials/modding with regards vintage watches. Theres a lot of work in publishing so many tutorials, I am a member of 4 forums so that means each set get published 5 times and not all are the same format
  12. Mine too.... finally got mine back a week or so ago. Communication with Geoff is lousy at best at times but the guy is not a cheat. He got himself into a lot of difficulties with the AR run, I heard he lost around
  13. all now sold guys.... currently working on an underwater barbecue and grill, will let you know the outcome when I am able to get it to light...
  14. this set has now been sold and will be added to a molnija movement, engraved and shipped complete ready to drop in a build... just had a new request to build another using a 3601, with the holy grail "618" cal and rolex engraved... assembled, serviced, supplied with brass case ring and shipped complete ready to drop in a case... might be able to post images, waiting for the movement to arrive, so I can start the build...
  15. I've now 3 left if anyone wants one...pm me for the price I am pretty much giving them away ie clue to price... a little more than McSherry charges for a dial?... another clue... 3 sets of DNS hands? less than the price of most straps (if fact about half the price of a lot of straps!)...cant say the price as I have to respect forum rules as this isnt a sales thread.
  16. Admin...if you wish to move this to the tutorial section then please do so, I tried posting there but it wouldnt let me.... How to build you own work jig
  17. I'm being stalked....you do know big eebee that the rest of this forum cannot understand a word you are saying. For those that cant keep up, I'm from Lancashire and Big eebee is from Liverpool...we live in a part of the world were messages dont need coding, because nobody has written anything to decode them.... bye heck
  18. Thanks Drulee and welcome Big eebee.... what a nice surprise to have such an honoured guest here.
  19. Tried posting in the tutorial section but it wouldnt let me...anyway as this is for a Vintage Panerai build I thought I would share with you guys instead The workshop showing my bench and the Hot Air Rework Station I use to re-work solder. Preparing to remove the serial numbers from a Molnija 3602. Why the 3602?.... The one thing I dislike about this movement are the bridges. The bridges on the 3602 are machined then plated in a manner that makes them look a little cheap, I thought if I could rework the bridges and at the same time age them, they would look very fitting in a vintage watch
  20. Great tutorial leading to great results.... love this creative thinking, by members not afraid to try something different. The more we see of this type of work in this forum the better this forum will be...thanks for sharing with us
