  1. As the title states im looking for a well versed watchsmith or repair person to look after a few of my favourite reps that have fallen ill I'm down to only a couple and my favourites are sitting around in the watchbox collecting dust . Please if anyone knows someone in canada or ontario that can work on rep watches i'd really appreciate it!
  2. Do you still have this one for sale?? LMK what your price is via PM
  3. Hey guys, I have a few watches that I love but unfortunately have entry level movements that i'm not all that happy with right now. Im curious how much expense it would be to do the following movement swaps through someone reputable that stands behind their work? I have a DSSD ProHunter that i'd like to swap from the current 2813 to a swiss mov't or eta clone. I have a PAM 253 Id like to change from the A7750 to a swiss chrono mov't of some sort. I actually have 2 swiss movements in other watches a 2836-2 and another similar movement but don't know if I could use them or not or how much it would be to swap these movments between watches. Any help would be very much appreciated
  4. Yeah Thanks for the input guys! Zig is my first choice for sure, just want to get an idea of what i'd be sinking into these watches. Did not realize he had a price list. Will check that out. Was going to consider other guys if they were alot cheaper but we'll see.
  5. Hey guys, have a watch or two that I REALLY enjoy that I might consider sinking some money into making them better quality. Whether that means servicing the current mov't, replacing with a better, serviced mov't, lume job, better AR job etc. Wondering what would I be looking at in terms of price ranges for these services and any others you could think of. I know its a mouthful question but I think it would be very useful info for new modders to expect. Don't include any shipping costs/taxes etc just what a qualified person could/would charge. So say a Kent Parks, The Zigmeister, and someone else average a range of 150-350 for a lume job, that would be the range you would put down. Same with a movement service [clean, oil, adjust etc], and any other key services that could be done to a watch you can think of. Cheers guys, love you
  6. You buying these new gens with the scammed money off your fellow RWGers you [censored]? Maybe your fellow new englander could pay you a visit for me
  7. Hmmm, yeah not interested in 1000. Would rather buy a gen at that point. Is it possible to swap the movements from the tighter spacing PO? I was thinking the same watch as you. Dunno if its on spacing wise or not or just closer.
  8. Only other movement i know of is the st-19 and freeze the chrono at 6. but is that the right solution?? honestly the frozen chrono wouldnt bother me but id like to make it as close as possible looking so I dont get called out lol.
  9. Hey there guys, i'm no movement expert so i'm really not sure if this is possible but logically it does seem to be to me I've noticed the large difference in the subdial spacing between the gen moonwatch and the typical replica 7750 you see around. However, i've also noticed the accuracy of the subdial spacing on the quartz versions. Is it possible to use the case of a quartz moon rep and swap in another type of chrono movement that uses the same chrono subdial spacing? Is there a movement with the proper spacing other then the gen omega? Ideally im trying to make a fairly accurate moon rep here and it just looks way too far off with the 7750 IMO. Any ideas?? Thanks Justin
  10. I noticed it started getting bad since my beater became my recently aquired RAD, might undo that descision lol. Ive tried everything you guys mentioned about wearing it above the wrist bone and having it tight and im the same way, like to have it loose in fact i think it looks better too! Wish I could say the same for my hand hahah. We should make this thread a battle scar thread! LOL I think I might try a destro, I had been contemplating one for some time for this very reason.
  11. Yeah I remember one of the other rep forums having one but it was pretty weak. It sparked my interest because I was speaking to a member a bout purchasing a "fiddy" which im still not sure exactly entails that badge. Looks to me like any non domed pam with the tm/reg CG? Honestly I have no idea. Anyways there were some strange details I asked him about like its sterile caseback and the swanneck that was all the way to the left. He replied telling me the watch was not running when he took the pic. Im not sure if the swanneck is supposed to change other then when it is running fast or slow for whatever reason, I have the same 6497 movt in my radiomir so im going to wait for it to unwind and see where the neck ends up. I will probably end up picking some fellow members brain for this info but I though it could be pertinent for more members then just myself. Cheers Justin
  12. Is there something on the site for newbs to the hobby?? I've been picking up alot as I go along but theres still much i'm unclear about. Would think it might be a good sticky for members Could have: Different movements Terms like "fiddy" "swan neck" "sterile" etc List of popular watch models? I dunno just was thinking, also I think details about some of the term such as how a swan neck works, where to get sterile parts etc etc might be good. I would actually make the stick myself but im still fairly new myself and am not confident in accurate answers. Maybe one of the well seasoned vets could say a few words?? Might inspire some more avid collections and even just the education alone might help lessen the amount of rip-offs happen with reps, lol I know quite the oxymoron. Anyhow, just my $.02 Cheers all, Justin P.S. If there is already a thread addressing this sort of stuff, please ignore my rambling
  13. Hey there guys, May seem like an odd question but I know someone out there has this annoyance for sure. I've been a daily watch wearer for over 10 years and I always seem to have a reddish bump on the back of my hand where the watch crowns make contact when I bend my hand. I was wondering if anyone has found a good remedy for this. Cheers Justin
  14. Hey there fellow RWG'ers. Recently got into the collecting hobby of these reps and Panerai being a major name in this game has really caught my attention. However, there are so many models to choose from and im sorta torn in deciding on purchases. I will probably buy multiple PAMs but alot depends on the look. I really like the CG with the t.m. and reg engravings. I suppose this CG could be added to any of the PAMs with that case type but id rather it be accurate. Is this CG only for the 1950 style PAMs? Im hoping not because im not a fan of the huge domed crystal typical on the 1950s. Nevertheless I can probably deal with that as I really like everything else about the 1950 models so I supposed I could potentially swap out for a flat crystal?? Is that possible? Being new to the watch game, Im not really aware of the costs and difficulties involved with modding or working on watches in any respect including servicing the movement to altering the parts and cases. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows what I should be expecting to pay for entry level PAMs new and used that would also help me find value reps I know there is probably a wide spectrum of pricing based on the model and parts used so Ill give a summary. I "PREFER" sandwich dial, engraved and brushed CG, either asian ETA, High beat, or swiss movements. Not sure which is the best value, however I do know the swiss movements are more expensive. Even a 21J is fine but Ive heard a few horror stories in the short time ive been researching this, so I might try and steer clear of them if its possible. Im going to stop yammering now, but would love to see some input from some PAM collectors on how they started off and what my budget should be. Thanks Justin
