  1. We are so fortunate. Give if you can?
  2. All good except no superlume.
  3. You gotta really watch the sales section here. Expect to pay up to $700 + depending on the gen parts seen here for $1100+ and pay full price as soon as you see it; otherwise someone else will and it will be gone. The new gen SS Subs are going for $8K now - so $800 for an almost perfect rep is a fraction...
  4. If it matters, it will fool 98% of people in the general public and no one here.
  5. Biggest recent design mistakes by Rolex: 1. Super Sea Dweller - yes and Gas Escape Valve on the front of the watch? wtf? 2. GMT IIc - I disagree - but am anxiously waiting for the pepsi... 3. ROLEXROLEX rehaut engraving - My eyes are going - I don't see it, or even if it's misaligned. 4. Fat lugs on the classic Submariner - I like the Sub C - I think they did a good job updating things. 5. Yacht-Master II, yeah WTF? I saw someone wearing one yesterday in Miami - egads it's so horrible... These are some BIG moves for Rolex - I remember in the late 90's when they made the move to luminova from tritium and then from hollow end links to SEL - you would have thought they redesigned the whole line...! Man these clasps are SO much better.
  6. Dunno but about 15 years ago I owned Alice Cooper's Exp. 1 - engraved and all.
  7. Mine is absolutely perfect. Spins smoothly and clicks nicely with very little pressure, which I like. I had a Noob DSSD from Vac that had some strange play and shift in the bezel - didn't care for that.
  8. Mine looks better - it's a tad off - but you really have to be looking at it head on. Otherwise as look at my wrist, ot looks just fine. IMHO the pearl on this is way better than on my VAC DSSD.
  9. Love the shark - ordered one from BK yesterday. Thanks for the pics.
  10. Fit and finish are very good - even feels right. IMHO, Bert's quality control, mods, and customer service put his watches in another league. I'm a tough customer and Bert has earned my loyalty - this is my 3rd watch from him. If you're like me and you want the best service and product and are willing to pay a little extra for peace of mind - BK is your guy. I have ordered another - this one will be "the shark". Ok - I stink at photos - so, as not to get anyone upset - my watch looks exactly like this one - lol. Thanks Bert. Looking forward to the shark. __________________
  11. Congratulations - you got me - where do I find this watch to purchase please?
  12. I like this model and the glidelock clasp is a marvel in form and function - Especially when compared to Rolexs clasps of the past But - the same thing occured to me - there are so many parts in there and it felt a little like there may be a weak point - I wasn't 100% sure to trust it especially on a rep... So the old fashioned stamped clasp may not look very good but it sure works well...
  13. I have a 1665 MBW GWSD - (it's the old style case and relumed) I did a fair amount of vintaging to it - really cool hunk of a 70's tool watch...
  14. Pure - possibly magic bleach! And I popped the pearl.
  15. You know that's an interesting question - I did a lot of reading on here about the elaborate lengths that so many members have gone through to fade their bezel inserts - UV lighting, salt water, and they can't seem to get the results they want... I always think WTF all I do is dunk it in bleach and it looks great! This is the third bezel I have bleached, one Noob, one from Trusty's Top Grade, and this one is a MBW or an unknown aftermarket - all 3 I have had excellent results with just dropping them into a small dish of household bleach for a few minutes - in and out. A warning, that if it works, it appears black while in the dish and it seems to lighten when taken out and rinsed - so be careful it's very easy to overdo it without realizing it. This one went a tad greyer than I hoped but I still really like it. It's actually much lighter than it appears in the photo. My 5513 went a really nice blue-ish and I absoulutely love it. I find the subtle coloring of the faded bezel to be impossible to really capture in photos - although I'm a lousy photog. Maybe I'm getting lower quality inserts and the paint isn't as good as it should be - because I'm 3/3 and I really do think it's the best (and easiest) mod to a vintage sub.
  16. yeah it looks brown like aged tritium but glows green. I have always preferred luminova to tritium. I know this to be a big debate. Lol.
  17. I think I see what you mean - when you say dish open downward - towards the case is it narrower or wider?
  18. Bought from RWG Trading Area. Gen crown, vintage super luminova lume, drilled lug holes to fit gen spring bars, nice dial, aftermarket flat crystal and bezel. Needs CG trim but I think I'm not going to go there on this one. The end links fit very snug like SEL. Very solid gen feeling watch. Did a fast aging - bleached the bezel insert a bit too much (but I like it), scratched up the case, lugs, and bracelet, (nothing that can't buff out).
  19. I'm always surprised to see so much on this topic - I've always just used household bleach and got a really nice, 'sun drenched - salty, almost blue-ish' look. My only advise is that it looks darker in the bleach than when it gets out and you rinse and dry it - so even if you want it well faded, take it out before you think you need to - even if it still looks black - you can always throw it back in. I see this as my favorite mod for a vintage. Along with scratching up the case and bracelet a bit. Is there something I'm missing? A look that cannot be achieved with bleach?
  20. Hi I'm the proud new owner of a nicely modded MBW Great White 1665 - I am in the process of cosmetically aging it as I prefer a more worn look than the previous owner. ( pics coming tonight) The bezel isn't as smooth or easy to turn as I like (it's not totally difficult) but I would like to see if I can make it spin more freely. I did take off the bezel and the ring inside it in order to bleach the bezel. It snapped back on no problem. But it turns stiffer than I would like (it was this way prior to me popping it off). is there are secret to adjusting this at all? It's certainly not broken or anything, but compared to my 5513, it's tighter turning than I would prefer ideally. Relative newbie here. Any ideas are appreciated.
  21. Cool post thanks for sharing - I love that show. Non of my reps have ever leaked either.
