If you work for DHL, maybe. 🙂

Looks great Freddy!
TRL is “thin red line” in honor of our dear departed friend Bob 🙂.

Then it must be a TRL on the case back 🙂.

Great post Freddy. Amazing quality and superb improvements by you as always. Can’t wait to see the genuine bracelet 😉.

Hi Freddy,
Do any of the controls/wheels on the back slide? That dome shaped one in particular looks kind of like the [censored] on a Futurematic.
Cheers.

LOL. Right up there with the excessive bubble wrap held together by three feet of clear tape requiring surgical precision to remove.

Ahh...HH case I assume? These look so good. You need to run the insert over with your truck at the 35 minute mark 🙂.

Looks the part!

Yes, happy birthday indeed. And thanks to whoever is actually running this mother of a ship these days!

Definitely a tight squeeze. Oddly the stem alignment is quite straight when setting the time, just had to push pretty good and risk popping the keyless when getting it in there. I am not a stickler for slow beat obviously.
Maybe try putting the stem back before tightening the case clamps?

Ruby case & dial, Slay hands, genuine glass. Managed to cram a 2824 in there after removing all the date bits.
This was intended to be a dry fit, but I rather like the NOS look.
Cheers!

Very interested. Will a 2824 fit or does it need to be 2892? Maybe the adapter is the same either way.

I like it! Dial color is great.

Panerai here too. When I was buying my first "real watch" I made a point to check out all the major brands. My visit to the Panerai site lasted about two seconds accompanied by a brief expletive 🤢. Now my 009, 036, 040, and 212 reps are among my favorites.

This has been my hobby. I had my Jetmid moment with part-ownership of a Sea Ray, but now have a center console a bit like this but more like a bowrider at the front (and shorter), with a 115hp Yamaha - kept in dry dock.
Turned the hobby into 3 gen watches. Have a vintage Rolex GMT, and 2 IWC - a pilot chrono and a big ingenieur.
Many reps I own have a more personal attachment to them (than the gens). I'm more attached to the story behind behind them, often the strap, or the crystal or whatever.
Like many here from years ago, I have some very cool watches sitting around. Much harder to get these now. We all used to dine out on ETA movements like Russian oligarchs on cheap caviar.
I feel the same about reps, especially the ones I put together. Unfortunately, the days of mint $500 maxi and white Sea Dweller dials seem long gone.
I have quite a few vintage gen pieces now that I really enjoy.
I do find that the current hot watches are actually killing my interest in collecting. When a hot mess like the PP Nautilus is Instagram’s most desirable watch, something has gone seriously wrong.

Years and years ago we had an exceptional watchsmith here who has gone on to the land of Gens. His name is legendary. My 62 year old Sub 6536 needed a service so I sent it to him. He did it up and sent photos and then mailed it back home. It was, as expected, perfect. It was only then he told me The Rest Of The Story.
He had disassembled my trusty 1030 movement and put all the components and corresponding screws into one of those trays with all the dished segments. He started down the stairs to his laundry room where his ultrasonic cleaner lived, and ....... tripped. Like a fountain at Las Vegas, parts arced out into the air in a glistening cascade and tinkled on the floor as they fell.
He spent two days on his hands and knees with a flashlight, and he found every last part. Or he slipped a couple Timex screws in there and I'm none the wiser.
Redbigjoe was a dedicated watchmaker for sure 😉. He is missed.- 1

Beautiful as always!

The best TRLs are replicated 1:1 using an original. The factory can’t just buy the sticker though. They need the whole watch to really see how it’s on there.
