  1. I bought one from WBK and I love it. It cost under $100 shipped from the USA to the USA.

Not sure if he is a dealer here on this forum, but his reputation is outstanding. When he gets these they sell out quick.

I like the watch so much that I have decided that when it croaks I'm going to try to find myself a nice used real one.

    or the chrono version maybe?

So I guess you can't really go too wrong which ever way you choose.

An ETA and Saphire would be nice but for under $100 the asian mineral glass version from WBK is awesome too.

The down side is that the reps bracelet, while nice looking, doesn't come close to the feel of the gen.

Another reason why I choose the cheap Asian version.

yes even the ETA one's bracelet is meh :(

  2. Yup...my Costco sells Rolex, Baume & Mercier, Oris, Tissot, and have had the occasional Omega in. Mind you, they are not carrying full lines and cannot do special orders...they get what they get...and what they get is on display.

As to the Tire guy...if he owns the franchise, he might well be wearing a gen. There are people who are working the front on restaurants that serve $6 lunches that are wearing gold Rollies, I would believe they are gens given the success of the restaurant.

Yeah, i noticed that too - costco had cartier, omegas, etc. it doesnt come with a manufactured warranty, but i dont think it matters with costco - if u can take a computer back and return it for a refund after using it for 1 year w/ no questions asked, the watch is well taken care of :)

Weird thing is i told my uncle this that the omega he bought doesnt come with a warranty from the manufacturer. he was miffed. came back with the warranty card - i unfortunately had to tell him a blank warranty card doesnt count.

OH, out here in the bay area, i have noticed clerks at liquor stores wearing gen rollies. Some owners, some are sons of the owners. Some clerks are kids of rich parents. Others have saved up (like me - i'm a poor artist, but i saved up for a gen PO).

i know folks who save what they can and buy a gen when they can. one guy has 3 gen rollies within a span of 10 years - saving money enough to buy a rollie every 3 years!

there's also installments/pay as you go.

  3. Bugger no one's replied to this one yet ;)

if you are concerned with longevity - swiss is a better route to go. This does not mean that if you get it that it will be more reliable as flukes of nature do happen. What it means though that if something WERE to happen, you can get it addressed at any watchsmith.

Asian parts are, from what i heard, difficult to source. most watchsmiths would probably be more familiar with swiss movements and have available to replace swiss parts.

If you get an asian movement and it dies, the likely route you would have to go is source a whole new movement (since they are cheap, but finding spares would be hard) and having a watch smith replace the busted one with the new one. While with the swiss, u can get it serviced without question.

which 007 special edition bond are you going with? the new or old one?

  4. Jeebers Ken, TT, and the rest of the RWG mod team.

I'm sorry to hear about the personal threats stuff along with everything else in this fiasco!

that stuff is frightening to even suggest.

I hope things sort out well and blow over and we can continue on with this crazy watch hobby.

  5. As I said in another thread... Last watch I bought was a Chopard GTXL from Neil. 2 weeks from Skype order to delivery and it is as close to perfect as any item I have ever bought.

One thing you will always get from Neil is honesty - brutal honesty in some cases. To paraphrase Mr Nicholson 'some people can't handle the truth'.

i somehow dont believe you would feel that way if you were stuck in with the good amount of people that DID not get their watches.

I can say i ordered a noob from Neil. It came in 10 days later, and i was HAPPY as a little school girl. But wow, if i was in the bunch that didnt get their watch? I would be UPSET and brutal in my messages. I am dissapointed with the numerous posts around all 3 forums of "where's my watch? it's been 3 months!"

It's not a matter of wanting the watch NOW. it's a matter of knowing that you as a person who paid, will in the end recieve their watch within a timely matter - not promised that it will ship next week next week. in the least, TTK is always around, so u know he's not going to go underground?

get better neil, and take it easy - your health is more important.

  6. just note that i've read some folks who have the mineral glass one and it shatters/explodes (not like a bomb :p )

there've been some cases where folks have some bumps here and there and the glass breaks. unavoidable if u go for a cheaper end with mineral glass.

a good 127 with good lume & mods and i think sapphire????? goes for ~ 400?

i cant remember, i havent checked 127 prices lately.

the second one from silex looks a lot better - the crown 10x better than t he previous one.

  7. HMPH!

i say it's ok to wear your rep into an AD. Most will be glancing it from a good 1 foot or more, and not enough time to really look at that watch anyways. I have my gen PO on and most sales peeps just glance at it, notice i have an omega on, and start wanting to sell me things. I can walk into an AD with my Rollie rep and no one woudl suspect unless i give it to them and let them hand inspect it. Heck, i've mistakened casio watches at 3 foot glances as rollies :( need new glasses :(

BUT FOR CRIPES sake! don't tell the AD what you're wearing is a rep!

  8. im wondering r those on ofrei site only for the 42.5 mm omega, accoding to there numbers it is , hmmmm trying to figure out if the hands r a different size on the big model 45.5 mm, anyone? im getting lazy at my old age, lol

    joe

nope, dont think so. ofrei offers for the cal2500 to fit two models, and both those models refer to the 42.5, not any of hte larger 45 models... though they do sell a bezel for the 45?

  9. Hmm, I'll see if I can convince her to pose for a few boobie pics with the AT too.

She wants a 40mm pam next but choices are slim there...

Yayyy! booobies! good luck with that. My g/f would just beat me with a stick.

The 40mm pams like pam48 or the white dialed pam 49 (or was it 50? i cant remember) with blue or red leather strap are nice. White seems more fitting on a girl, but i've seen many with black dialed pams.
