  1. i'm worried now, some mates at work are tempted to order as well

so i'll get loads of hassle from them if it aint as good as i'm hoping

can't wait, next two weeks are going to be painful

Yeah, you have nothing to worry about. that 4th generation PO is gorgeous - w/o a gen next to it to compare, no one will know. Here's my gen next to a rep PO.

  2. By-Tor,

I did read your Guide to Best Omega Reps article/post, in fact, it was one of the first things I read when I found this site. I thought you did an excellent job of describing the various Omega replicas available and I found the links to other posts very helpful. Overall, I think it's a superb reference for anyone looking for a good Omega replica ... well done!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I agree w/ your water-use assessment. I will wear my 9226 the next time I go jetskiing or swimming. I'll wear the "Omega" in the rain ...

Also, I have a lot more questions regarding mechanical watches and this one in particular which I plan on submitting tomorrow. I just need to decide where to post it (general discussion, omega forun, technical info/upgrades, etc).

    Regards,

    Jeff

There might also be additional instructions on josh's site or andrew's site regarding chrono functions. fyi

  3. I received my new "Omega" Seamaster Professional 300M Chronograph from Joshua (www.perfectclones.com) on Monday, following a very short 6-day wait from Western Union payment date.

Here are my impressions of the watch so far....

    LIKES:

    1) Styling. This watch looks awesome! :thumbsupsmileyanim: One of the coolest looking designs ever IM(LTH)O. The replica is very faithful to the real SMP except for the already noted minor discrepancies (bezel insert alignment, bracelet screws, date font).

    2) Bezel. The bezel turns butter-smooth, just terrific. One of the smoothest bezels I've ever tried. I find myself turning it all the time just because I like the way it feels. Very sweet.

    3) Features. Has all the major goodies I like; chronograph, metal band, diver bezel, luminescent hands/markers, automatic winding, screw-down crown/He valve, sapphire crystal.

(Note, you can differentiate sapphire from mineral crystal two ways ... 1) sapphire has a pink hue to the edge when viewed sideways while mineral has a greenish hue. 2) a large drop of water will slide off almost completely leaving a few (very small, well rounded) drops remaining. Mineral will leave a large streak on the glass. Try it for yourself!)

    4) Mechanical movement. The first I've ever owned. Smooth second hand(s) look cool as does the instant-reset chronograph.

    DISLIKES:

    1) Size. Just a bit too big for my tastes (particularly the thickness) and I prefer large/heavy watches. Still, I'm starting to get used to it already...

    2) Pushers. I wish they were the screw-down type like my Invicta 9226 Pro Diver. Those pushers have "nuts" which screw down to hold the pushers *out* thus forming a submarine-tight seal. Still, WR seems to be very good anyway.

    3) Simple chronograph function only. Probably just the way mechanical chronos are. I do like the elapsed, cumulative, intermediate & split timing features of the Inv 9226's ETA quartz movt.

    4) Accessories. Watch came alone, wrapped in a bit of foam, inside an envelope. No Omega or other box and no instructions. (also, no fake warranty card or COSC certificate, but I didn't expect these)

    4) Bracelet Screws!! Forget the looks ... it took me 2 hours to take a few links out!! Three screws came out w/ no problem but the last one got stuck and wouldn't come out to save my life. After 30 min with 3 sizes of jeweler screwdrivers ... then adding plyers ... then a vise, it just refused to come out. I was very careful & determined but no luck. I had to saw the $%@#& link off w/ a hacksaw and vise to remove the pin. :yucky: Took me 1.5 hours of very careful cutting to remove the link/screw. :bangin: Afterwards, I had to drill out the hole(s) to get another pin to fit through the link's holes since it would not slide through. VERY POOR design and/or craftsmenship!! If anyone else has this problem, let me know and I'll try to walk you through the solution.

    TO BE DETERMINED:

    1) Timekeeping Accuracy & Adjustability. Now that I know how to wind it I can check the gain/loss per day. Hopefully, I can get it to within 5 sec/day on average since The ZigmeisterZumba says it's not good to frequently set the time on the Asian 7750's.

some things to keep in mind:

    1) mechanical chronos are all like that. if you've seen the cuts of a mechanical chrono before, then you'll know it's much more complicated than a standard mechanical watch. Gears galore. If you need to get it serviced, it's more expensive than a regular non-chrono (we're talking ~200-300 dollars to service).

    2) NO rep will ever come with a brand box and fake papers and instructions. These are separate purchases or might be included in a package. Of course it would be nice :? thought it was weird that you included in as a dislike considering all reps will come to you in this fashion.

other than that, cool beans! that's a nice watch you have with good resale :) wear it in good health.

edit: OOPS! didnt realize this is your first rep purchase. sorry bout that. yeah reps wont be coming with any accessories... soemtimes they come with QC issues too - as you've run into... and that's the typical sacrifice we make to buying counterfeit goods at the fraction of the cost of its gen counterpart.

Also you'll notice that higher end fine watches mostly come in mechanical. Though quartz will always have much more features than a standard mechanical, mechanical is... in a way... considered the traditional heart and soul of a watch.

  4. Sorry if this is a doulbe post; i've posted this is the Omeeeega section as well, but thought it be nice since this is a more ontopic section of the forum :)

thought i share some "Not really good comparison" photos of a gen 42mm PO vs rep 42mm PO

(rep PO = the one with the bloatie bezel pearl)

  5. Just wondering, i noticed differences between several photos of the second hand of the PO 4th gen.

Is it suppose to be light orange, or reddish orange ( like the numbers )? and which one is the accurate one?

Omega website doesn't help with minimal photo gallery.

    Cheers,

    SJ

here's comparison of the gen vs rep PO, where gen is more Reddish orange while rep is just lighter orange.

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=19919&hl=

btw: 3 months? waiting that long will make a weaker case to andrew :( hope things sort out.

  6. I don't know if it would, but I would atleast get the insert that goes with the PO. Ask the dealer if they can get you a spare insert - I know I was able to acquire one.

someone should correct me if i'm wrong, but gen bezels do not fit the 42.5mm rep bezel. I have both a gen and rep PO and made some comparison measurements of the bezel insert. Gen inserts seems to be .5-.8mm smaller than its rep counterpart.

I think the only ones that fit are other rep inserts... but i've heard it was difficult to change out because removal of the bezel was difficult.

If someone managed to do it, can yah let me know?

  7. I am getting a PO soon, but I know that i will have to resize it... knowing that it has pins and rollers does it need a special too to resize?

I don't really want to take it to a dealer; i did so with a Rolex 11610 and although they did resize it for free, the experience made me nervous...

yes... you'll need a link pin removing tool. I use this particular one with my omega PO, but it took some time figuring out:

    http://www.amazon.com/Watch-Band-Remover-E...8&s=jewelry

The thing with this tool is that it only pushes the Bracelet Pin halfway out. I tried to grab it with a pair of pliers to pull it the rest out, but ended up breaking the pin. I eventually figured out a workaround but taking one of the spare pins for the tool and breaking it. Taking that small piece, i use put it into the bracelet when the pin is halfway out, and use the tool to push the rest of the pin out.

To reattach the braclet, i remove the pinpusher from the tool. I then screw down on the pin without the pinpusher.

that's what i have to go through at least - taken my bracelet apart dozens of times.

  8. i just looked at a replacement crystal from ofrei (they are both the same crystal both watches) $149 anti-reflective crystal factory part......... maybe the newer ones come this way??? this is the obvious route i will be going. i'm exited now :thumbsupsmileyanim: i'll post pics of my "modded" gens!

i'm very sure now that i've seen them at AD's with AR :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  9. Sure is if it's an ETA 2000, which is what Cartier puts in the gen. And if nobody wants to pay 588, the price will go down. Are you sure the price jump wasn't because the movement changed from a 2824 or something? Which is not to say that Pug is not the Alan Greenspan of the replica watch market....:)

Josh and Andrew have been selling that with an ETA2000 for over 3 months now if i can recall. Same Pics, same specs since i first saw it for sale. Actually, I first saw Ruby carrying it.

Could the price hike just be because ETA2000 are harder to obtain now?

I dont think they'd price it at 350 if it had a 2824.

  10. Here are some pictures for those who are wondering about the PO

@TripleHD I will let know if the watch needs to go. I think The the 42mmPO may fit better on my wrist.

Enjoy the pictures, Still with the plastic wraping on it

    190991-4912.jpg

that PO looks fine on your wrist. my 42 fits on my wrist just like your 45 fits on yours.

looks like you'll have to send it back to andrew :(

  11. I've researched this question before and what it comes down to is Warranty&certificates vs non-warranty/certs.

Online, you can get hassle free 30% discount off of retail tax free. You sacrifice warranty from the manufacturer. In case for a co-axial movement, that's 3 years. You may also sacrifice serial numbers, which will devalue teh watch if you're reselling it. It may also not come with all papers and certificates. Even places like Costco will tell you they aren't an AD so their omega watches arent covered by warranty (even though it has serial numbers).

When you buy at an AD, you get all warranties, certs, serials, etc because they are an Authorized Dealer. There are some jewelry stores i've encountered that sells Omegas but they aren't in the AD PDF that omega lists and look somewhat suspicious (i would have to assume they source their watches grey market).

The hassle comes into finding an AD and then negotiating for discount. Some will give you 10%, others can throw out 25% right out the door - and the anal ones will give you 0%. I got mine at 25% and negotiated down to 30% - it took visits to 5 different AD's though to find the AD I was comfortable with.

It's better buying at the AD - gives you a peace of mind and that warranty. I know of one fellow who bought an SMP and 6 months in, he had problems that the warranty took care of.

Anyone online are not AD's unless they are an actual AD Retail Store with a website that sells online (supposedly they're arent allowed to do that) - watches-etc.com is an retail dealer and they are an AD of omega watches.

btw: some online sites offer their own warranty, but i would just look for an AD... you can get the price to be just the same as Online.

  12. my family has a mix bag of people in different payscales, so there's always those with Gens and those with "reps" (i wouldnt' even call what they wear reps).

anyways, i haven't been called out, instead, it kinda happened the otherway around:

A cousin came in sporting a 35mm daytona (yes, 35mm daytona) bragging how he has a gen rolex and showing it off to my aunts and uncles. Not only is it 35 mm, it's a daytona with no chrono but day/date intead. Secondly, the bracelet is something like 16mm lugwidth narring down to 12 or 14. the casing is super dull and brassing in several areas :)

So of course, everyone calls him out.

The unexpected came when they called me over, because they wanted to compare my "GEN Explorer 1" with the Fake *obviously canalstreet* daytona :) ONLY if they knew :) :) :) they said:

"Look at how much smoother the sweep is on the explorer, the build quality. Look at the laser etched crown! how it doesn't rattle when you shake it on your wrist... the sheen of hte case. You should work harder like your cousin, then you can afford fine watches like him!"

The explorer I is a really nice rep with a swiss movement in it.

Poor cousin, he shouldn't have gloated so heavily :)

  13. i got box and papers to fool dad to thinking i got him a real rolex. after an hour or two of talking about it, he finally read my b-day card to him, which stated it was fake.

without the box and papers, i wouldn't have that joyous look on his face. Anyways long story short, he doesnt wear his gen rollie no more. Wears the rep everyday now.

as for me, i'd be interested in a box and manual for decor, don't need no stinking papers.

  14. I've been collecting reps since early july this year after seeing my uncle's gen Cartier. From there it just took off. Been collecting not only reps, but gen watches too... some vintage as well :) hope you enjoy!

grandfather's 1st expensive watch when he arrived here in america. He was so proud to be able to afford it. passed down to dad then to me. :( he's currently very ill so this watch has plenty of sentimenal value.

    164150-11601.jpg

Vintage 1950's waltham, another one that gets lots of wrist time.

    164150-11602.jpg

Vintage longines from the 50's. Found this in great condition at a flea market :)

    164150-11603.jpg

Newly aquired Poljot Strela Reissue 183 of 500 (i wonder hwo many have #183 also? :) ) Love the cyrillic writing.

That's pretty much it! funny how i thought i was just going to buy 1 rep or 1 watch :)

  15. try www.bhphoto.com

their prices are VERY VERY good. I've been ordering from them for years.... except when i purchased the 8mp canon xt Dslr for the g/f (i got that from dell with a coupon- ended up dirt cheap).

if you go with a DSLR - glass is very important. dont skimp out on it. Go for in the very least the middle class lenses... avoid the cheapo starter lenses. These avrg 300-600 dollars. If you have the money, the high end lenses are around 1000 + dollars :o

I purchased a 1200 dollar lens and gave me 500 dollar lens to the g/f. She still shoots better photos than me, so it goes to show you equipment can only do so much.

Regular consumer level Digital cameras like the dimage are also really good. I've seen amazing macro photos only to discover it was done with P&S cameras :)
