  1. well from my understanding, this was a used watch, right? It's not like ajoesmith was a dealer selling hundreds of watches? or am i mistaken?

Crap happens during shipment - i've even had some pacakges mauled just mailing it 45 miles away. I can't picture sending a watch overseas for a repair... but i can see some sort of comprimise coming out though? like a small tiny reimbursement to *help* but not fully cover repairs (since the damage was from neither side but the likes of postal).

best place though to go is a small watchsmith that repairs mechanical watches. None of that mall crap or big chain repair shops.

    google maps?

  2. I often wonder if there is more too it than stated in a post as I've never had a problem with PP in 4 or 5 years dealings. I never choose service as an option, only goods nad never get issues.

I assume this email came from Paypal and is not a spoof and you have only replied through your PP access page!

I"m always getting threatening mails supposedly from Paypal and Ebay but are never genuine.

yeah, phishing scams are abundant. Never ever click on their links.

I wish there was more to it, but that's what angers me - there isn't. For my problems, it was problems that shouldn't exist... or SHOULD be easily resolveable.

i have to admit though that PP has greatly improved since back in '00-03 ... i did get $50.00 from joining in an the class action lawsuit... so that does say something about their customer service back then.

i can only hope they strive to imrove and not leave people hanging.

  3. Just saw the new bond movie. The movie definitely focused on the Omega watches. Would love to see this watch with the rubber strap. But, I will do without the 007 on the end of the second hand.

Great movie BTW. Very surprised by Daniel Craig. He looks more athletic then the others, so he is more believable in some of those action scenes.

i can't see brosnan in that one... uh... rope scene (not to spoil it for anyone). And i can't see brosnan jumping around and kicking people in the face like craig either.

I definitely had doubts, but they're gone now - love the movie! Now i want an OHMEEEEGAH!

  4. Just watched casino royale last night, the film is outstanding! Danny Craig is definitely much better than Pierce Brosnan, which is a shame 'cos Pierce was better than Connery (awaits the flaming to begin :bleh: )

yes i was quite impressed. sean & Brosnan will always be my image of stylish british bond, but craig definitely puts more character into bond (probably cuz of writing).

i want a PO now... product placement at its best.

  5. It's funny - I've had a PP verified account now for 5 years and never had a problem. The only thing I would gripe about is their fees but other than that - guess I'm just one of the lucky ones.

i think the biggest problem is that if you DO run into a problem, there's no easy solution since customer service is so bad.

that may have changed, but my g/f ran into another PP problem several weeks ago. PP didnt list her charges and she was supposed to get a refund from a very reputable watch case dealer. PP told her that the dealer scammed her and didnt want to dig into the problem any further. It wasn't until the third tech support guy that they found out it was being refunded, but takes 5 biz days. It just didnt show up on PP because there was something wrong with that particular server carrying her information.

    OHhhh dandy! :bangin:

  6. i can understand your frustration.

I've had issues with paypal to no end... they only got slightly better with a class action lawsuit several years back. Can you believe that they had no phone support 3 years ago!?!? we're dealing with money and there's no live support?

long story short (this happened 3 years ago before fone support): i had a linked bank account to have verified status. I moved outta state and forgot to unlink the bank. I purchase something and chose the credit card option, but didnt know that according to the Terms and agreement, that any charges on a credit card will default to the bank if there's a bank linked (THAT is ONE retarded T&A... why give the credit card option if it'll just pull money from the bank?????)

I try to call paypal because there's no funds. WELL, no phone support! I get a penalty fee for insufficient funds... but not ONCE, 3 times! because paypal will try 3 times. I tried to stop them, but they gave generic responses "Oh we can't do anything, its automated"

not only was it aggravating watching them try to get money when there's no money there, but waiting a day or so for them to respond to emails was death!

in the end, it was -500 dollars from penalty fees and such, but the bank saw all the transactions that paypal was doing and thought it was ridiculous. They closed the account and from that point on, i just stay on unverified status.

I've had other times where pp won't even list my transactions. They exist, but stupid pp glitches dont list them (this coming from phone support). paypal sucks balls... but there's no ease of use like them... hence they easily stay in business. bastards.

NE-ways... sorry to rant on your thread... i do hope things get sorted out. I guess it's moneybookers or WU... i'm surprised they would freeze PP if you didnt mention anything bout goods.

  7. I have a fairly normal wrist but I've noticed that any larger model appropriateness really is dependent on the case height. To feel comfortable on smaller wrists or on any wrist, a slim case pancake profile design that lays flatter on the wrist will make up for its size. Its an optical illusion but really does work. The rep. IWC FA Jones is a perfect example, they are very thin proportionally to the diameter, 12mm X 42mm but for some reason will look more appropriate on your small wrist than a Panerai Regatta at 40mm X 12.5mm. Try that one, its not that expensive and a very classy design.

hey thanks. the luminor i have sits pretty high as its 14mm in height. It looks fine at most angles but a side on view you can see it just... sitting on my arm.

Flattness may help, but for me it tends to be the lugs that seems to overshoot my wrist. with a thick strap, they tend to look better.

Thanks for the suggesto! i will go check out what you said!

  8. my wrist is 5.75 inches - I blame genetics on that one!

I wear a 40 mm pannie and it fits great. It looks great. I can wear 42's as well, but 44 looked just a tad big. If your wrist is anywhere near or below 6, then a 40 will wear nicely. For now, i will doubt your wrist is as small as mine, so i'm guessing a 44 will fit you just fine!

i'm waiting for someone to post a cheapo used 44 to buy just to try on. I tried a 44 on at an AD and it looked big. Even the dealer said it was too big for me.

if you want to get a feel for it and there's no AD's around, you can check some similiar looking fashion ones :p like... er... diesel :p

  9. i've used thread. wrapped around wrist, and then measure on a ruler but there are different areas on your wrist. I avrg around 5.75-6 inches (WOOOO i got smalls wrists!)

most watches, particularly leather straps, size around 6.5-7 inches for the smallest size. i typically ahve to get two extra holes punched.

if ordering custom straps, i'm supposed to be 105/60 (which is the standardd size for women's leather straps), but with thicker straps it can be 110/65.

the standard 115/75 are large for me.

    hope that helps?

  10. I'm not an expert, but i did attend optometry school for a year before i left to pursue a career in something else...

so far there's 3 types of visual correction surgery i'm aware of. Please forgive spelling: Radio-archae, lasik, and the non-bladed lasik.

Radio archae is pretty much obsolete and has longterm visual side effects. it's the procedure where i believe 8 cuts are made into the cornea... this unfortunately leaves scarring. i heard from teachers that if done incorrectly (like... VERY incorrectly) it leaves potential for your eye to just pop if hit (like a leaky water balloon!)

lasik creates a cutted flap, laser burns the middle endothelial cells, and the flap is flipped back. heals pretty fast. most common. still waiting for the 20 year side effects to show.

laser without the flap i would have to assume it burns right throw the epithelial tissue (surface of your cornea - basically the flap?) to create corrections? I think in certain states, optometrists can do this operation because by medical law, optometrists cannot perform any form of surgery. Surgery is defined as a tool coming into contact with you (ie: if i remove an eyelash that got stuck in your eye, that's considered a surgery!). However, since laser is not a physical metal tool, it circumvents that law in some states :D - this is the newest procedure and as such, still waiting for the 20 year side effects :)

i would opt with the lasik as it's a proven method done for years. The other procedure i would worry about longterm stuff (of course doctors would argue about that).

anyways, if there's an Opthomologist or Optometrist on this board, or if i'm just blatantly wrong, please please please correct me :)

OH... and that blade that is used to cut that flap? they call it the MicroGuilletine... nice name.

  11. They are all pretty much the same watch.

How can you tell the SS in the trustytime.com version is different to the other two watches?

They are all pretty accurate for the womans version, as accurate as you'll probably get.

i would keep on looking but so far the one from Perfect Clones is nicer and slightly different than trusty's. I know there's a mens version of this with "swiss eta2000" that is really nice, but not sure about a woman's version. good luck! i've been trying to find a nice accurate (or semi accurate) carter TT santos galbee automatic.

  12. hello. In search of more information about watches and reps, i migrated from RWI over to RWG to see whats up!

I just got my first Cartier Santos with steel band in and i LOOoooove it. It has an amazing amount of detail for the amount of money i paid for.

No regrets. Love tis watch. Hope to buy a genuine of this someday :)

    so much to learn!

  13. hi guys,

sorry - i'm new to this forum, but i jsut recently picked up a rep mens cartier santos with steel band. Does anyone know how to remove the links from it? (attached image)

    100237-26417.jpg

There's no screws or pins on teh side, and the only thing i see is this hole in the band. I don't have access to a watchsmith/jeweler/watch folks until the weekends. Only folks available at later hours are the macy's folks and fossil :(

ps: i love this watch! love love love.

    quickedit:

AH... 4th watch place i took it to managed to adjust the links for me. It was really hard as this particarly cartier doesn't have screws in the llinks, but requires you to push a pin in the little hole down and slide the link out. It was really difficult, but at least it's done and over with.
