I just ventured into the "quality denim" world a few months ago, and completely understand the dilemma on trying to pick out a good pair of jeans. There's a ton of good advice here. Do not buy a brand just because you have heard of it - instead, take note of the lists of real jean companies listed here. I have to disagree, though, with the dismissal of 7 for all mankind, as I think they're a super comfortable and attractive starting point that, although more expensive than the gap or express, will not completely destroy your bank account. Oh, and I love my Nudie dry denim...can't wait to see how they turn out!

How do you like the 875s? I'm very strongly considering a pair of 877s, though the salesman is actually trying to convince me to buy the 838s (much cheaper and waterproof).

That's awesome! I saw these guys (minus the violinist) in the exact same spot this summer. Caught the end of one set and came back to watch the next in its entirety. They were pretty damn good. Was very hesitant to go to a ren fair, but my buddy convinced me and I have to say it was a good time.

A friend introduced me to this site, and I've spent the last week reading my way through the forums, trying to orient myself with this vast new world, and figured it was about time to say hey to the community. Hell of a knowledgebase you've got here. Also, just put in my first order - a noobmariner (thought it was fitting...).
