  1. from what i know, the original sd had the tropic 39 superdome, which came higher off the bezel and had an extreme dome to it. i have the mbw drsd, and the dome sits right at the bezel, but i just ordered a tropic 39 non superdome, which like the original, sits well above it.

the main problem is finding the superdome, and when you do, its gonna run you at least $200-$300 for the gen, its RARE.

so i guess to answer the question, the sd's crystal, like the 1680, is technically supposed to be raised from the bezel, although i'm sure there have been gen models where it was flush with the bezel.

  2. so, I had changed the crystal on my mbw 1680, and was having trouble getting the ring pressed back on, so i used a mallet over the press that i have (stuped, i know) and i broke the harness that holds the movement in the watch (the 2 little pieces of metal that are screwed into the movement that hold it in place, well, one broke, so the movement wont stay put)

does anyone have any suggestions how i can fix this myself, or a repair guy in nyc that is rep friendly. doesnt seem like an extreme fix, just aggrivating, the movement is operating just fine.

    thanks guys

  3. So, I aquired a mbw drsd rollie from a fellow collector, and I was in the process of changing out the bezel insert when i noticed it was in fact glued into the bezel.

I dont know who did this, and i dont care, its really no big deal, but i do want to get it out without destroying it so i can pop my new insert in.

Any suggestions on how to get this done cleanly?

  4. ok, its done finally. got the ring back on with, you guessssed it, a pair of pliars :yucky: . hmmmmm, maybe its time to get a press?

In the meantime, I think i may have upset the movement a little :black_eye: , stopped for a second, who knows, any of you trust worthy gents in the states feel like taking a look at it for me?

anyway, guys, thanks so much for your help, it was a [censored] to do, but it came together in the end. I even like the little scratches on the case that i earned, makes it look a little older.

nice crystal, nice insert (that i picked up today in the nyc jewelry distric) this little babies coming alone.

    up next, drsd...............

  5. I cant get a hold of my mentor ubi, so i'm putting general question out.

Is it necessary to remove the movement of my 1680 mbw in order to change the crystal? well, not necessary, i know its not, so i guess i'm just asking if any of you have changed the crystal on any of the vintage rollies without taking out the movement?

    thanks

  6. For some odd reason, mine has gone bye bye, which of course makes the bezel spin with no resistance whatsoever. I have added a small peice of tape on the washer for the time being (thanks tribal, good tip) which is a good temp fix, but I definatly need to hunt down the wire/spring/whatever the hell it is.

Anyone have one they can sell me? or any recommendations (ubi, palp, anyone??) on how I can just make one?

    Thanks guys

  7. Just picked up my second mbw in less then 2 weeks, this time a drsd. what a looker. cant wait to put the gen t39 dome on it, if I can just find one. by the way, anyone got one?????

I will post pics, good pics of both my mbws as soon as i get better at photos.

Thanks again everyone, would not have gotten these without your help. of course, still looking for more :thumbsupsmileyanim: greedy sum'na'[censored] that i am
