  1. Well after wanting to buy a 'decent' watch for over 5 years i have finally bought a nice time piece which i thought i would share with you folk since i got a lot of help and advice from the members here. Everyone i have encountered so far have been nothing short of kind. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I had been toying with the idea of a rep watch as a daily wear but the ones i like seem to have complex movements and as such need to be serviced etc and had common faults which put me off a bit. :g:

What i decided to do was spend a decent amount on a daily watch and then buy a couple of high end reps for the watches i can only dream of being able to afford the original examples.

Right... to the watch i have bought. Its a Seiko Premier Chronograph SPC051P1

    Some blurb from the Seiko website;

To combine a full function alarm chronograph with a perpetual calendar was an irresistible challenge, but to achieve it in a watch that retains the ease of use and classic appeal of Premier is a very considerable achievement. The key to the success is the dual function of the center hand. It indicates the date, month and leap year in the time of day mode and seconds in the chronograph mode, thus leaving the dial clean and easy to read. Once again, the very highest timekeeping technology is presented with a classic, restrained demeanor. This is the very essence of SEIKO Premier.

  2. Right,

After much deliberation i have narrowed my search down to 2 watches which i will use as a daily item.

A stylish Seiko gents alarm chronograph watch. The stainless steel bracelet has a distinctive design which is complemented with a black dial which has bold roman numerals. Usefully, the watch is also 100m water resistant.

    Stainless steel case and bracelet

    Black dial with silver markers

Has to be said im really impressed with the features of the premier one with regards to how it shows you the date. Very nifty. :)

I prefer the strap of the first one though...

  3. Dont know of any specific honda parts sites but i know there are some MR2 specialists about.

What do i think of the MR2 NA, well its like driving a Broken MR2 Turbo as im always waiting for the boost to kick in but never does. lol

Thats a biased opinion though as i have owned 2 MR2 turbos before so this was bound to be a slow car in comparrison. Having said that the NA is so much easier to throw around the bends due to its predictable power band. There is a kick from about 5200 rpm when you get some more power similar to the modern VVTI engines.

MPG is about 25 which aint nothing special but what is special is the Mid engine Rear wheel drive setup. In the dry you cant fault it and in the wet once your used to the car you can have some tail out action. :)

  4. Cheers mate. With regards to the end links you refer to. I presume you mean where it connects to the watch?

And yeah, im liking this one a fair bit. Just need to find a place which has the first watch so i can try it on to compare before purchase.

Once i have this daily one i can then look to getting a rep in the mean time. (pardon the pun) :whistling:

  5. Right... bit of an update. Finally got round to going to try on a couple of watches and could not find the one i originally posted in the shop to check out in person but did look at a couple of others.

    In particular this watch.

    http://www.firstclasswatches.co.uk/seiko-gents-chronograph-sna525p1-p-676.html

Now in the pics it doesn't look anything too special but the finish of the metal in person looks very sharp.

Tried it on and the strap although did take a couple of hairs out ( :whistling: ) sits really nicely on my wrist.

Its a 44mm width and didnt look too bad size wise but i think its due to the strap falling and shaping around my wrist. Others i tried on have a bigger link to the watch which sticks out a bit before it touches my wrist. Looks a bit silly. :bangin:

So anyhow..will post a pic up as soon as my computer reboots.

    Regards

  6. Wow, I did'nt realise there were Z fans here!

I currently sold my Uber rare 2000spec 300zx Slicktop NA a few months ago.

I was thinking of replacing the zed with an E46 M3, but it would'nt be too sensible to spend most of my savings on another car :bangin:

I'm currently looking at the DC2 type r but it's impossible to find one that the boy racers haven't got to!!

    T200

Get on th itr-dc2 forum as thats where i found mine. Impressive and very capable car but i missed my mid rear turbo setup of the MR2's so sold it. :bangin:

  7. this is a dumb question but is petrolhead a common term for car lovers or is it for faster cars/bikes? i have never herd this term before, im a petroleum engineer is why i checked this thread out.

:good: Petrol head is a generic term for someone who likes motors which use Petrol to run. Thats how i see it but im sure different people will have their own meanings i suppose.

    p.s) did a quick search

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=petrolhead

Greg - I love the 280Z and the 300Z... infact all the Z cars i like. :) Would love a 280 with a LS corvette engine in it.

Wimpie - is that the new R golf?

  8. So, some bikers and a race car driver on here as well! wow...

Bet some of you will be waiting for the F1 to start soon. I know i cant wait this season for many reasons! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Rule changes are the best bit... also think hamilton will blow button away! And as much as i dispise Schui, it will be interesting to see how he compares to the upstarts. :pardon:

  9. Excellent stuff people! :)

Nice motors as well in those lists.

I bought my first car in 2002 at the age os 23 which was a 1990Toyota Celica GT (UK 3SGE) and i was so excited about getting one i bought the first one i saw in the dark!

    Learned the hard way! :whistling:

So got rid and bought a mint one. And thats when i started changing cars quite often.
