  1. As promised here are some more pix of my 7031 (really a 7032 thanks Ubi!, since I chose a stainless bezel) -a grail watch of sorts for me.

This is a vietnamese made case and complete watch from J&W with gen pushers, gen crystal, and a VJ7734 movement with a Tudor engraved bridge, mounted on a folded 7836 bracelet with 258 end links. The quality of these cases are just amazing. The date alternates red and black, although this DW is not original to the 7031 it's pretty cool. Yes, the crystal is slightly off center which I'll take care of soon. It's been some time since I had a watch I just CANNOT stop looking at!

    Enjoy!

Wow! toomuchgear! that is a great piece! cool! love tudors i hope my next project will be a tudor well done wear it with pride!

  2. It's sad, but I must have purchased 5 or 6 watches because of their (or they just happen to have a) relation to 007 movies (UPO on rubber, SMP, Sub, CG-free vintage sub with Bond NATO. Recently, I got a Gen Hamilton X-wind, which was worn by Felix Leiter in QoS.

Sometimes I wonder if this would have happened if I hadn't got that DUI while on my way to Army Counterintelligence School. :wounded1:

    Regardless, your watch looks outstanding.

Thank you for appreciations Chipslap!i have also a rep 5512/3 like roger moore wore in the man with the golden gun i like old watches and own some watches from the 40s and 50s !

  3. here my new product

    work in progress...

    sorry for bad pics(iphone 8gb)

Fantastic work! on a rare and i believe rolex deepsea prototype,i have been trying to get someone to manufacture this case as my next project!

a very difficult and complex job this watch is a monster rolex looking like something captain nemo would wear in a jules vern story!

you are an artist and engineer!

  4. Hey AEROMATIC man your rolly is eccellent..(yeah..tell me about it).I have a few good replicas myself that i fully modified to better water resisting n better looking rolexes.I am a big lover of vintage rollys but..like u said,u have to mortgage your house to get a beauty like the one u r wearing. If u r wondering who is sending this..........IT'S ME MAN...

Hi There my friendly watchmaker! thank you for appreciations you will have to post photos of your great modified/custom made vintage rolexes reps

and i loved your bezel pearl creations very close to the gen pearl ,so we dont have to worry about loosing our pearls<(that sounds great) i know this happens on gen vintage rolex

  5. Nice one, what was the total cost if you dont mind me asking

Hi There fxrAndy nice to know you, total cost was around $2500 usd not including the western union payment fees.

and a watchmakers labour costs, this was for gen 1030 rolex movement,6538 case, with the brevet big crown, none 15 minute graduation, bezel, gloss guilt dial, golden handset, and a brevet riveted braclet, these were supplied by yukiwatch

and the bond correct colour nylon strap was supplied by the corvus watch company

  6. great....the watch is stunning. i'm not a big fan of the vintage rlxs, but for this one i'd become a thief^^. very nice build...and a great story behind it. congrats^^

Thank You StormFather for the appreciations! oh and when its not on my wrist its locked up in a thick steel safe! Even bond cant force it open!

    Nice to meet you!

  7. This Story started when i was ten years old and glued to the big screen,re-showing Goldfinger! the highlights of this bond movie, lets see there was that hat,the golden naked lady, the aston martin, and the scene that captured my attention was that close up shot of bonds rolex.

With the internet i started realizing that i wasent the only one that loved the bond rolex, after finding that prices of gen 6538s were way out of my price range and rare,i was unable to find a correct looking replica.

Then i found yukiwatch who could supply me with case, dial, handset i had to sell my large collection of reps to finance this project! my bond strap from corvus watches which i modified by cutting the steel keepers and making a cloth keeper as worn by sean connery, then when the parts arrived, i thought i have to find a real 1030 rolex movement i haunted ebay for weeks!

After being out bid twice,i asked yukiwatch if he knew of anyone who had 1030 rolex movement, and was suprised he had one so i could complete this lifelong quest for a jb 6538 watch! Please excuse my photos i will have to replace my camera!

First three photos (parts) were taken by yukiwatch! i wish to thank them for suppling parts for my dream watch!

  8. Thanks Aeromatic, that's great advice. An abrasive like steel (wire) wool will definitely give a well worn, dulled look. I find also that a really old watch has shiny areas, with a patina of fine swirls and scratches. To get a subtle polish to the wire wool look, try some Flitz metal polish. It's a paste, and good for removing corrosion and final polishing. Work some in with your thumbs, then wipe and wash the residue off. Repeat until you get the level of shine you want.

Thanks Nanuq i will try that i like the top of the lugs to be slightly polished which you see on a few vintage subs!

Yes I agree with you about the patina on older watches i also own some old swiss watches from the 40s 50s that have this patina!

  9. Hey guys, I was just wondering if there were any tutorials or threads about how to "vintagize" your rolex vintage reps. I just purchased a DRSD 1665 and would like to get it "worn in", etc to look more like the real thing. Any info would be appreaciated!

Hi There to tone down that new look finish i used wirewool the type plumbers use, rub the case and bracelet until you get a mat brushed finish do also the case and braclet edges to take away the sharp edge then i used a metal polish like autosol to polish the watch upto the required finish you may prefer it a little less or more polished up, the end result gives you a older more used looking watch, also use wirewool to tone down the acylic crytal this also tones down the look of the dial without doing any "work" on the dial which can not be reversed!

I dont have any advice about aging a bezel insert,if any members have a suggestions please let me know!

    my watches are a 6538 big brevet crown,1665 comex,5512,redsubmariner,gmt/pepsi

  10. Hello

These are nice photos too you have a great bond watch there ,may i ask what camera you use?

i have seen matt varnish used before on dials and hands but i would recommend a waterbased varnish only.

i have toned down a dial by using rubbing compound or by rubbing the crystal with some fine wirewool

this way you dont have to risk damage to your dial and if you dont like it polish it back up!

  11. does anyone have any info on where i might find a brevet crown? i can't justify $800 but if there is a slightly more cost effective solution :whistling: then Im all ears :)

gorgeous watch by the way, really looking forward to getting my hands on my laterst acquisition :thumbsupsmileyanim:

HI there yukiwatch.com has the brevet crown and tube 280usd these are made to fit on gen 6538 i purchase all my parts from yuki

  12. Thanks for your appreciations. I love the yuki 6538 set, but it is too much expensive for me. I would like to see best photos of your 6538, nevertheless...

Yes i think you did well with the ageing, i did this on a comex but i will not do this to the yuki set i would like to get a cheaper 6538 rep to age and use this for everyday use i will post best picture as soon as i get a good cam.

  13. I realize you are new, but please try to avoid re-quoting lengthy, picture-filled posts. There is no reason to force everyone to scroll half a page through a set of pics for a 2nd time. If you need something to reference, quote only the relevant text, or, if you need an image, just re-quote 1 pic.

    Thank you & welcome.

Ok i dident intend to re-quote all pictures. in fact i was only intending to reply(my mistake) is there anyway of deleting/editing them?

    Thanks
