What's the difference between Josh's $198 and $98 watch?

Both claim parts interchangeability.

Josh's SD pages catalog are confusing, its a mix of old batches and new rep construction. You need to click on all models and look for all small details on pics.

I would suggest you to go for the new generation made from 316F stainless steel. Dials are better than these old vintage reps series.

On these new generation the only interchangeable parts with gens/aftermarket are the plexi and the bezel insert. The plexi assembly looks like a kind of gen assembly but its not like on the gen.

The more its assembled tight, less the water will penetrate. Personally, if I feel its to loose, I glue.

Second, thank you Zigi for your comment about the lume process and also for your positive critics about the bezel ring and insert re-work.

You have done a good observation and you are technically right about the method I used and errors. I made 3 watches and they are prototypes. The work on the bezels has to be improved of course. The bezel rings are originally Sub design rings, and I tried to convert them in GMT bezel rings... No way to adapt gen or aftermarket ring-retaining ring-spring Rolex design on these cases.

Just to precise, all these rep "vintage" GMT Master sold by all dealers are made with a Sub 5513 background.

But what is interesting is that these rep cases are very accurate especially the crown guards design, and case thickness : gen 1675 cases are very thin

Other problem, as you pointed out, the insert has to be positionned deeper, means I should have to remove more material inside the ring or/and from the back of the insert. Its not a glue problem.

My conclusion :

no one rep has a click/pop insert system. All Rolex reps -GMT, Subs, SD, - are based on inserts glued on the bezel ring. My prototypes were modded according to basic rep vintage Rolex GMT with glued inserts.

BTW, Bezel rings were re-worked to accept oversized 1675 gen/aftermarket specified inserts. Glued.

Of course, It would be possible to profesionally machine properly the bezel ring to pop-in a gen insert,the cost would be so consequent that I would say : stop, by a gen. A gen 1675 is only 4500 euros.

The Rolex GMT master 1675 is the most difficult rep to copy, as no one Chinese maker has made an accurate case, bezel ring,insert etc.

The worse : the dial. And these "gen Singer refinished" will not fit on rep cases. Not a feet position problem but a size problem, they are anounced around 26mm diameter, rep GMT 1675 rehaut inside diameter is 27-28mm... And all these called Singer have just the name, they are just simple Singer reps.

Mike, these bracelets are not very accurate... I confirm, a lot of work on the endlinks. I changed for endlinks I picked up from a Josh's watch bracelet.

Josh's Daytona vintage bracelets have good enlinks and excellent clasp. The bracelet links are to thick.

DW's have bad clasp and bad endlinks, but the thickness od the bracelet links are thinner and absolutly like a gen,

I am contemplating a future 6263 project and am trying to decide how deep to jump in. I know that I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but do want a quality and fairly accurate spcimen. I was thinking of going with a DW case kit and probably a Valjoux 72 movement. I might have a source for a movement but was wondering if it is hugely noticeable using a V72 and not a V726 or V727. The only difference I can tell in the 72 and 726 is the beat increase. Maybe somebody knows more about it than I do (I am hoping so). I haven't really seen what the price differences are between a V72 and V726 either. Maybe that would be the deciding factor. Anyway, I was just wondering if it would be a good quality rep with a DW case kit and standard V72 movement. Thanks in advance!!!!

I have owned this exact same replica model and I guarantee you that it doesn't have a jumping GMT hand. It has a jumping hour hand, period.

if my response is concerned, I assume, I have a 2836-2 in an Explorer II from Josh -classic, with the incorrect handstack- and the coupled 4th hand gear has feature who allows the gmt hand to jumps by hours increments.

I have disassembled the movement to service it, so I know what is inside and how it works : the 4th hand jumps using the same kind of device that the date change.

I always thought the jumping GMT hand during adjustment had never been replicated (the GMT hand was rotating all around the dial when turning CCW the crown on all the reps I've seen, and was not "jumping" from hour marker to hour marker as gen do...).

Anyone have ever bought this watch and can confirm the GMT hand is jumping when adjusting it?

I confirm Josh sells since 2 years Rolex reps with gmt features -GMT Master and Explorer- with INCORRECT HAND STACK, but with A JUMPING GMT HAND. This is a new mod on the ETA serie's 4th hand complication. When the crown is pulled at the second position, turning the crown clockwise set the date, turning CCW the 4th hand moves jumping by 1 hour increment.
