  1. are the photos from the dealers ?

which dealers is its from ?

No my friend. These are pics of my watch just arrived yesterday. After taking it apart... dial is a big white flat disc embedded into the back of the dial, explains the flatness. I will attempt to remove it and implant the V1 white plastic button below. Hopefully the concave button will increase the depth of the hole.

As you can see... still the wrong caseback, but otherwise still nice coating overall

  2. Hey Folks,

Just back from a long trip, china etc etc... back with one of the best news ever..

Those familiar with Sinns and U2 know it was one of the best reps beside the U1.. unfortunate thing was the Ar capsule was pasted on top instead of below the dial like in gen.

    I present. Sinn U2, All black V2

And for the update. Check out the Ar capsule. This comes as it is, unmodded folks.. certainly puts me out of business for a bit.. but hey, everyone benefits!

No time yet for a full review, quick inspection shows Ar capsule is slightly sunken, but not enough.. size looks just about right. Sure beats the painted white dot or the white button pasted on. Amazing stuff!

  3. I used to think A7750s were extremely reliable but recent experiences have told me otherwise... its certainly no workhorse compared to the Eta 2836s or 2824s. Ok, so i'm comparing asian to eta BOO! Having found a reliable direct from factory source for ETA 7750s, i've never looked back. If Tissot can put these into their watches with a warranty.. heck, so can I :) I was advised by my trusty watchsmith though to service every A7750 i get b4 wearing it if i intend for it to last... (I dun think he's just out to earn my money LOL) But hey, you dun see people running to svc their gen watches the minute they buy it eh? Food for thought. Heck, its like buying a clone engine for your V8 car and sending it to your mechanic for a tune up :) THen pray it doesn't blow up in ur face. Hope you got ur movement Ryaku

  4. Got mine the same price as Ubi, with gen hands. The texture of the dial, lume markers more than justifies the price.

Just to address this post from John,

$300 rep donor case - A Brand new Rep costs $240, why would a donor case be $300?

$110 gen TWB alligator - Individual choice, the rep bracelet is nice, i got my gen ostrich pilot strap for $50

$300-$600 Swiss ETA 7750 or IWC ETA 7750 - I'm selling one for $320 right now. Brand NEW from Tissot Factory

$500 for gen dial, hands if you can get them - Got mine for about $450 so that's close

$200 for labor of double AR crystal, install movement, fit hands dials and shipping both ways

Think if you wanted to build a 3717 with gen parts, you should be able to keep it <1/3 the price of a gen.

  6. After luming the shaved markers, the chunkiness of the rep marker is gone and more gen feel. Hope the photos can show the roundness i've tried to create to reduce the sharp edges of the shaved rep marker.

    3717shaved12.jpg

Certainly tedious and high dial fatality rate haha but much closer to gen effect than luming over the rep markers.

  7. THis has bugged me for quite a while now. When i had the GMT IIc, which was a great rep btw, i compared it to my friend's gen and found the cyclops mag was quite off. The rep was way magnified compared to the gen, i had i believe V2, Zseries. Just wondering whether that has been improved for the V3? Anyone?

  8. But be sure to try the chilli crab (or black pepper crab), it's like the unofficial national dish and to die for, if done well.

Attached. There are many cheaper (and possibly more traditional) places for Chilli crab in SG but I can reccomend the Grand Hyatt near orchard RD for an amazingly good one.

OMG that's a Sri Lankan monster crab claw you're holding... Dun forget to order abundant amounts of that steamed bun that is used to clean the plate of every drop of the gravy :) BTW, its called Chilli crab but its not really that spicy - just delicious. Other local delicacies you should try are

Pork Ribs Tea (Bak Kuh Teh)

    Fried Pancake (Roti Prata)

    Fried Carrotcake

    Fried Oyster omelette

    Satay (like kebabs on stick)

    Fried Hokkien Mee/ Prawn mee

Rojak (Cannot be described in english haha)

OK i'm officially hungry though i just had lunch.

  9. Haha.. looks like you mention Singapore, you think of FOOD. Not much in the way of reps being sold openly... Next week you coincide with National Day (9th Aug - check out the fireworks display at the Marina Promenade). If you stay even longer, the Youth Olympics starts on the 14th Aug. Also, the latest attractions like the Skypark at the new Marina Bay Sands Casino is opened. If you're looking for some fun, you can spend half a day at Universal Studios at Resorts World Sentosa. Pity you're not going in September.. that's when F1 zooms into town. My advice - Eat local food, there's so much to try and its all so good!

  10. Like said, its not WM9 for sure, cos only the V2 might have endlinks like that but that's not a V2 looking at the CG,pearl and bezel.. I'm thinking a noobmariner? That's actually quite a distinct pearl design on your watch..

  11. I realised that luming the markers rounder does reduce the sharp edged blockiness of the markers but does not reduce the chunkiness of the rep marker, which for me is still the biggest tell.

So i'm working on reducing the chunk on the markers now on my spare work dial. Here are some pics, 3 marker is reduced compared to rep 9 marker. Also the 12 marker is reduced compared to rep 9 marker. Just a thin layer of lume on top and should be much closer to gen due to reduced chunk.

    Will update again later.

  12. No worries mate. I've just been reading 1 too many similar comments and thought you might be able to substantiate what you posted. To each his own i suppose, buy asian by all means. The only asian i have is A7750 and the crown is a little wokky and rough even after servicing, all my other 'ETA' watches i own run like a champ, including the little 2678-2 in my WM9 V2 .. which by the way, i dun think BK would take too nicely if asked if his mvmt is real ETA or just a sellita clone.

  13. Actually. Spend some time reading the stickies on all the various watch sections and you can answer your own question. Do not take this wrong, members are not being unhelpful or unfriendly, just that this question falls into one of the 'asked too many' times category meaning there should be plenty of threads to refer to along with the Top 10 budget reps, Top 3 reps etc.

  14. There have been several threads in the past about dealers claiming to be selling ETA movements, but there being something quite different 'under the hood'. I got sick of wasting my time trying to discuss the issue, as at the end of the day, no-one wanted to hear that their favorite dealers were pulling their pants down. To be fair, there have been less complaints of this happening in the last 12-18 months :)

I get what u mean TJ.. its a separate issue though, if a dealer ships a asian clone although you paid for an ETA vs what he's saying the dealers never ship ETA at all to begin with.
