"Strappy"
actually inspired me to go and treat myself to a classy new gator strap for my current favorite, my Ziggified 111h. So yesterday I brought out my tools, adjusted the movement (it had been running five minutes fast each day, ever since I bought the watch from a member), polished the case and installed the new Alligator strap. The pictures don't show how classy this combo looks in real life...

I'm a member in a couple of similar places... and earned my first rep...utation over at TRC. Today i find myself spending most of my time here on RWG. I like the vibe of this place and being EU based, I also like the fact that it feels more international than some of the other fora.

That's a sad story.... and it would be even sadder if you retired from modding. Whoever sends you his watch needs to understand that you are not a professional, with 10 years of training on your back nor are the watches you're working on genuine articles with proper factory QC's. To have the expectation that this rep hobby is like buying a rolex at an AD and taking it for service to an AD is childish. You can only try to give it your best and if in any particular case it turns out bad, be ready to make up for it. Nothing more, nothing less.
The other modder you referred to very recently explained his relationship to one of his main customers (and friends) and basically said that one of the cornerstones of their "working" relationship was the common understanding that if you comission mods, you have to accept that there's are potential risks involved. I totally agree.
You where prepared to make it right, redo the mod, even refund the money. If your customer expects anything more, he's clearly on the wrong path...

If you are planning on getting a tattoo in Japanese where it says "Born To Be Wild", it always ends up in "Fried Noodles Chili Style".
This is so hilarious.... in fact I had this very same though so many times when watching kids with Japanese or Chinese letters tattooed on their bodies... what if the tattoo artist just thought you where a Gaijin Schmock....

I thought I'd throw this into the mix, a Heuer Carrera 1964 Re-Edition. The original 1964 Heuer Carrera had a V72, but this watch has the same as the Omega cal. 321- is it the Lemania 1873?? I forget! But it sure is a nice chrono and I got a great deal on it, just cruising ebay. Sometimes you just got to spring for a gen.
That's a beautiful sports chrono. I remember my dad had one of these back in the 70ties. Black dial. I used to grab it from his closet and play with it. Wear it well.

this is an old device.
this device operates only with pressure not with vacuum technology.
but vacuum is the most important test. the watch gets an expansion
and here you can see whether the gaskets hold the watch really waterproof.
a test with pressure is mostly the second test.
the new modern device from greiner is the poseidon.
