  1. You find the pubis once in a while because they work naked to maintain the sterile environment
  2. What will installing a gen diver extension on my SSD accomplish? Maybe I am being a little dense on this one ... sorry. Thanks. Marty
  3. When modding the SSD CG's, do you just need to thin the inside of the CG (the crown side) or do both the inside and outside need to be done? What about the thickness of the CG? Is it ok? Thanks. Marty
  4. I will buy you a real one if you don't botch the job

  6. Timeless designs ... that is a good topic. Definitely the Speedmaster and Rolex Submariner/Seadweller. What other watches are in this category? Heuer Carrera, Rolex Daytona, Patek Nautilus???
  7. Yes, it is about 20 years old, so it should have a Cal. 861. I have not cracked it open. Was just serviced in the past year and winds as smooth as butter
  8. It is amazing what you can get for about the cost of three reps
  9. I am sure Rolex really gives a [censored] about what GQ thinks ...
  10. Great! I am hitting the Marianas Trench next week. This is perfect
  11. I just got this Seiko "Sumo" today. I can believe the quality for under $400 (street price). I highly recommend this watch

  13. I guess this is posted in the right place, since these are homage pieces. I am looking at the "ITALIAN" - PRS-20. Does anyone own this or any other Precista watch? Your opinions and pics would be greatly appreciated http://www.timefactors.com/precista.htm Thanks. Marty
  14. It is hard to find. Look three items up from the bottom. It is right above the tool for removing bezel rings. http://www.tztoolshop.com/page80.html#590 Marty
  15. I narrowed it down to 6 watches, which seems to work for now. I recently sold a Flat 6 chronograph, which I thought I would miss, but not so much. Gens: Seiko 6309 Diver (weekend beater) Debaufre Airforce (weekend) Reps: MBW 1680 red sub fully modded w/ gen 93150 bracelet (worn almost daily during the week) MBW 1665 GWSD fully modded (fights w/ the 1680 for wrist time) Swiss Yacht-Master w/ gen crown/tube (dress watch) Omega SMP chronograph serviced w/ gen crown/tube and date wheel (usually worn at night during the week/weekend)
  16. Cats, I like this insert. You can install it with little sanding. To make it fit perfectly, you need to take a little material off of the insert or the bezel itself. Check out this post. If you want to PM me, I will send you my number and you can give me a call with any questions. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry419783
  17. I like the Clark parts. His tropic 39 is very nice and the crown tube is fine, albeit a little fragile (you can sheer it off easily). Once installed, it works great. He does not carry a crown. Your best bet is to look for one on eBay (buy the seller first!). His inserts are no better than most that are available. You cannot install an acrylic pearl in one (the hole is too large). I like this insert. http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSALES04/W...orRolex1680.htm Replace the pearl with an acrylic one from Ofrei and you have a great looking insert. The Ofrei pearl will also fit the insert that comes with the MBW. My only complaint about it is that the font it too thick. If that does not bother you, save the $60 and just buy the pearl. Insert as purchased Acrylic pearl installed in the above insert
  18. It was fine, just lume with no metal surrounding it.
  19. Correct me if I am wrong, but genuine inserts (or 1:1 copies) fit, but they sit too high in the bezel. The insert should be slightly recessed in the bezel. Grind was a bad choice of words. All I did was take a little material off of the bottom part of the bezel when the insert sits. Think of an L shape. I took a little bit off of the top of the lower half of the L, so the insert sits better (or lower) in the insert.
  20. I installed the pearl. It is from Otto Frei. I agree that the font and thickness varied on vintage inserts, but the MBW insert has too thick of a font. This insert, with the pearl installed, is much closer in look and quality to a gen insert. That is of course IMHO
  21. This can be an easy mod or a real PIA. The Clark tube is very fragile. If you shear it off, getting the broken piece of tube out of the hole can be a b##ch. Also, I have seen MBW cases with different sized tubes. The larger of the two can just be re-tapped, the other one needs to be drilled first. I learned this the hard way. Try getting a broken tap out of the tube hole. Now that is really a lot of fun Oh ... forgot to mention that you need to countersink the hole to make the tube fit correctly and to have the crown sit correctly on the case.
