I guess I found the answer to question #1, but here comes a new question. What other movements besides the 7734 would fit this case? And, are they more or less as expensive?
-
Jesus Christ, will it ever stop? I seriously should stop coming here. I have 6 watches in the mail and already thinking about this beauty. That can't be normal.
Couple of questions:
1. does the 45 minute subdial works as a chrono? If so, then I would not need to invest in a movement with this feature (30 vs 45), specially at the price they are going for.
2. what size is this watch?
3. what movie is your avatar from LHOOQ?
Thanks and hopefully I'll join the club soon enough.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the 'big number' version.

Rolex Explorer 1016.

I would say the date wheel is still slighty sunken, but that doesn't bother me (yet)
Another thing i have noticed is, while i unscrew or screw down the crown it feels as if it winds the movement.
Is this normal?
Yes, it's normal. Enjoy this watch. Mine has gotten me laid quite a few times. Ladies love the Big Pilot!

I recently sold a watch to the man himself, Ernie Ro mers. He got a nice deal on a Tissot I sold over there. I bought it before discovering this place, so I have no need for a quartz Tissot in my life. I now wear IWC's, Breitlings and Omegas
He seemed like a nice person. I asked him to send the payment as Personal so as to not get any fees, and he sent an extra $10 to cover the fees. Said he didn't like sending Personal payments on Goods.
I do agree about most everything that has been said in this thread, but I find the place useful. Sometimes I go to check how a certain gen strap is done on a specific model, so that I can give instructions to HK Tan. The pictures are also great.

Final thought, if you wear regular anti-perspirant/deodorant under your arms (gland under there) or use crap like Axe or Old Spice you run a much higher risk of poisoning your body than with a watch strap.
What do you mean, spray-on deodorants?

About to order a custom alligator strap and I'm not sure if it's 20 or 21mm wide. Thanks!

In any case, it is a quartz watch .
Good eye. Mad props!

Used spaces between the letters so as not to draw attention to this board when people google his name. Not sure if it works that way, but just trying to be cautious.
If you don't know who Don D r a p e r is then you probably don't live in the US. If you can get a hold of the TV series Mad Men, I suggest you do. You will like it.
Here's Don latest watch. I think it's an Explorer, but it looks like it's from the late 60's, but the show is currently in 1964. Here are the best pics I could get.
So, Rolex Explorer?

So he got banned from all rep boards... big $hit!! He'll sign up with a new user name and nobody will ever know.
I think this merits more serious actions. Like posting it on other forums (real watch forums) with the mans location, maybe the guys real name. He may not try to sell the watch through the Internet, but he will definitely try to sell it to someone else.
The collectors that would be willing to pay $40k for such a piece would go thru great lengths to authenticate it before sending that much money to someone off ebay. Realistically, would he be able to sell it at all if wasn't caught? This is a good question. If you can spare $40k on a watch, and you're naive enough to send that kind of money to someone with 30 transactions (and not even 100% feedback), then you don't deserve to have that kind of money.

Very nice looking indeed.
I guess this is a 3717 case? Only other difference I see is the small seconds hand which is white on your model.

[size="4"
Looks good? or is bracelett better you think?
Honestly, anything but that strap. Doesn't look good at all... at least to my taste. Hopefully you don't mind my honesty.

Don't have the watch yet.

Hello. Ordering a custom strap for a 39mm Railmaster and the strap maker is asking me if the width is 16mm. I know the lug width is 20mm, but wasn't sure about the deployment. Some threads say 18mm, others 16mm.
Thanks.

Why is this avitt guy banned? He seems so helpful and knowledgeable.
-
Yeah, this is definitely worth $200.
-
Nice. I can really tell between the gen dial and the rep. You have a keeper.
-
Nice lume! It's always nice to justify spending $$$ of dollars so that your watch can look better in the dark. I think those lume shots are priceless!
-
You mf's are crazy! V1 vs V3, Gen vs Rep. Lets buy a rep for $300, send it all over the world to get AR, buy a gen dial for $600, a gen movement for $$$ more, then $$$ more for a gen bracelet, and what do you get? A rep watch that won't fool the same person who wasn't fooled by your $300 watch... but you will fool everybody else without the need to spend $$$$ on the improvements.
Bah

I did a search and something came up about family issues.
So I guess I should forget about ordering something from him? Sent a PM 3 months ago.
-
He just means to say "wind it by hand" .. it was a typo.
In that case, then no, there's no sound when I play with the crown.
-
btw, time changes by moving the crown counter clockwise. All the watches I've had are the opposite: time moves forward by rotating the crown clockwise. But I also got an Omega Speedy Date and it works the same way, so I guess this is probably something to do with Asian movements?
Thanks again.

Thanks.
I guess I'll go visit a few local pawn shops before spending $400 on a movement. But chances are I won't find anything.
