  1. any of you guys have any spare end links lying around? long story short - I already wasn't having the greatest day and I was changing from the rubber strap to the bracelet... after 20min. spring bar still wouldn't go in the lug holes, I detached the endlink from the rest of the bracelet to make it easier, but it was still the same. I got fed up and threw the endlink against the fridge and it bounce off to god knows where bleh...maybe it's a sign that I need to get that gen SEL!
  2. Hey db2, who's JMB? Resident modder?
  3. From my reading, it has to do with our case... Its too small so the gen bezel is basically just 'laying' on top of the case. I've read that some machinists were able to make a steel ring to fit over the case and fill the gap between the case & bezel. Been searching for pics but couldn't find any
  4. ah gotcha! K, I'll keep you guys updated if i manage to get some time to do it this weekend! btw, what's the part # for that green thingy for the crystal?? I never got that Would I need to grease that up too? So far what I'm thinking to waterproof: seal the HE valve with epoxy grease caseback rubber O-ring gasket grease crown rubber 0-ring gasket did I miss anything? (besides the green thingy for the crystal) Btw, watcher - all the parts are looking mighty good!! I had it all lined up like that too when I was waiting for my UPO lol! And no, I never bought the endlinks.... I figure I'll do that later...Mine's fitted with the rubber strap for now anyway PS... can't wait for your caseback to arrive!!
  5. Not yet! I'm goin to try and tackle that sometime this weekend.... Any tips on how to remove the tube? At least a list of 'what not to do' ? lol I also gotta find me a silicon grease and some type of marine epoxy to waterproof this baby - any specific product recommendations?
  6. any idea where andreww? Curious to see how it fits/looks btw, I modded my own UPO :) Installed crystal, hands, dial, and correct DW. AND it's my first time ever going past opening a caseback lol I just had a lot of patience. I put the hands on and off several times because I couldn't get it positioned quite right to where the date turns at midnight... i got close though! 11:58 Not very many pictures but here's a few with my new DSSD: And lume shot:
  7. yeah.... now i'm curious...does the green show on the rehaut?
  8. omg...i almost fell off my seat! saved the pic lol
  9. Watcher, got the stem and tube!! thanks mucho!! :)
  10. oh hello....didn't see that one when I swapped my crystal... i'm gonna source it through ofrei!
  11. have you tried calling/e-mailing them yet? they are extremely helpful with getting you parts! As long as you have the case# and caliber# they can find whatever you need! Sorry to say, I don't know much about Speedies... my head is buried too deep into my PO at the moment
  12. it looks more transparent but it's got a bit of blue if you shine light at just the right angle.... is the new transparent AR supposed to be completely transparent? did they mention if they were two different part#'s ? now i'm curious which one i got! lol When I talked to Ofrei, they sounded like this was the only crystal for that particular case# and didn't mention other options
  13. what's a tension ring?? anyone got pics?
  14. OMG..... $59 for ONE endlink!! I would have expected at least a pair for that price.... oh well... it's going into the shopping cart anyway!
  15. aweomse thanks!!! this thread turned from a 'gen caseback' inquiry into a gen omega resource acquisition lol
  16. Hey watcher, got a part# for the SEL ? I can't find it @ Ofrei's
  17. OMG watcher! wow! That's an extensive list! Going all out huh? lol that's awesome!! I'll eventually get there.. I figured I'd get the core stuff first then I'll get into the SEL's and caseback, etc. But since you've got most of everything, why don't you add this to your shopping list: http://www.ofrei.com/page666.html#17252 $146.50 OME-117ST1579951 It's *just* the clasp with the engraving.. I don't think it comes with the slider and what not. That def. completes the 'Look' !! btw pm replied
  18. ooo that'd be awesome! When I talked to Bob @ Ofrei's, those date wheels do not have a part number. He said they go by: A)what movement it is going into and 2)where the date window is. So, he said the way watchsmiths order is to just e-mail them asking for a "genuine ETA date wheel from a 2892-A2 with black background and white print/numbers; date window @ 3:00" Make sure to mention the black background - at first they automatically assumed I wanted white background, but I had it clarified before going through with it. They'll get you an invoice and you'll be set! Let me know how much postage is for it! I'll be more than grateful to paypal you!
  19. nice!! do you have any pics of it, anakin? does it have the anti-counterfeit globe engraved?
  20. i've read countless tutorials and threads on swapping these items.....but really, how easy is it? newbie work?
  21. watcher's got that covered I did just order from Ofrei though and they're out of stock on the tubes 4-6weeks ugh!! So here's what's coming on thursday: Crystal Dial Hands (hour, min, sec) Crown Date-wheel (from 2892A2; black bg, white print)
  22. K, well I talked to Bob and confirmed that the datewheel comes from a 2892/2890 (he was going off the top of his head) But the case back he couldn't answer if it had a globe or not. He basically said that if the watch came with the globe on it, that's what you'll get - because they base it off a) caliber# and b)case# Nice guy though, he immediately replied to my e-mail with his cell# to call since it was easier to explain
  23. that's what I'd like it to have... lol I'm going to e-mail them right now actually
  24. ah right on! K, I'll search around for a 2892/2824 gen DW at Ofrei's then.... or maybe I can just e-mail them and find out. Thanks!! Here's my list so far: crystal dial hands (hour, min, sec) crown/tube caseback I'm looking for the HE valve...just the cap. Can't seem to find it on their site so I guess I'll e-mail them about that too. Let me know if your caseback fits!! Yours will probably arrive alot sooner than mine
