I'm new to the forum, but so far I love it. I have a rep Yachtmaster, and it is a fantastic rep aside from the lume, it will glow for a few minutes if you hold it under a light for awhile, but with regular wear, it stays as dark as the night. Not a huge issue imo, but I am now experiencing an issue and want to know if anyone else has seen is with this watch. The watch will stop keeping time when the crown is screwed down. As long as I keep the crown unscrewed, this thing is almost perfect, off by maybe 3 seconds a day and only needs winding if I dont' wear it for more than 24 hours. As soon as I screw down the crown, about 20 minutes later the hands stop, until i shake it up and then it goes for another couple minutes, then stops. If I unscrew the crown, it is back to ticking again. Any ideas? I have 2 watchmakers in town that will happily work on reps, but I don't want to spend 100 dollars getting it fixed, when I could spend 100 on a new watch (and I am dying for a black SS submariner). On that note, aside from my YM problems, if I get a $80-100 SS submariner, what am I sacrificing besides a better movement? My YM has a cheap asian 21j movement that keeps amazing time, and has for about a year now. So I don't mind the cheaper movement. But is there anything else that I should be aware of that people would spot as fake from a mile away on the lower priced models?
