  1. Has your watch arrived yet? Care to comment on it?
  2. (Tony has been discussed on the Other Dealers forum too). These prices are not the real prices, if you get my drift. You need to contact him. I have a VIP card - usually about
  3. http://www.watch-ebay.net/ Tony's service is superlative.
  4. No you weren't missing anything! I emailed Tony, he just took them down temporarily to update his payment info etc. They're back up now. You can, by the way, view his items at www.watch-ebay.net and then, as he says "bid on CQOut 2 days later" (not sure what that means). His prices on CQOut are often much cheaper than quoted there, by the way.
  5. Do you think by and large they are the same watches, too? My suspicion is yes they are, at a fraction of the price.
  6. I can vouch for that. I bought a couple from him, had a minor problem with the crown on one and he goes the extra mile to help. His prices are dramatically cheaper than the dealers usually recommended here too and I assume it's probably exactly the same product he's supplying.
  7. I don't know whether you are referring to the case back on the midsize or not because to my eye the rep and the gen look absolutely identical!

    Bond 22

Daniel Craig went to my school, he was in the year below me. I'd like to think he gets the inspiration for his interpretation of the Bond role from me.
  9. I think the plastic wrapping on the bracelet suggests that it is indeed a rep - unless of course gens come like that too. I'm sadly not in a position to confirm that!
  10. Yes, it does seem a little low. The wording of the text is incorrect compared to the gen on the Omega site too - in fact it seems to be completely wrong; also, the gen appears to have a tiny little marker next to the date whereas the rep doesn't. So, these flaws seem to indicate the pic is of the rep rather than gen. All in all, not too shabby though. (Edit: compared to other pics of gens on the web, this rep seems entirely accurate!)
  11. I've always reluctantly accepted that I'd never get a Semaster Pro because it's too big for my little wrists and to date, have never seen reps of the midsize models. However, I've noticed in the last week or so that what appear to be very good quality midsize models are popping up on ioffer and CQout. Heck they even have the correct valve placement! Attached is an example (Lot 3300299 on CQout, but available for less on ioffer) I realise they aren't as "fashionable" amongst many on rep forums where big is in! However, does anyone have any comments or experience on these models, or perhaps just a keener eye than me that can pick up any obvious flaws?
  12. I wondered whether someone could spare a minute. I'm thinking of treating myself to a PAM. I've always been put off by them because of their size and my tiny (just 6.3" wrists). However, Silix has a couple of 40mm models at less than $100 USD so I think I may take a punt. Both models however appear to be as near as dammit the same with the exception of the strap and stick/number markers. The links are here. Could a PAM expert cast their eye over them and give an honest opinion? It'd be much appreciated. The links are here: PANS083 PANS086
  13. I too have been interested in an Aqua Terra for months but never pulled the trigger. Can I ask why you recommend the more expensive Silix version rather than the cheaper Trusty version? (I know the Silix one has the incorrect logo, and Trusty has the incorrect case back, engraved with "Constellation"). (I recommend to the OP you check the actual diameters too: when I was investigating several months ago a couple of the dealers admitted they were quoting the wrong sizes in their details - they were as I recall in general larger than they were quoting. May not be a problem for you, but I tried on a gen 39mm and for a watch that isn't supposed to be as bold and brash as the larger size watches currently in vogue, it really did look too big on my skinny 6.3" wrist. I really wish there was a mid-size rep.)
  14. If you read what I'd written, rather than just use the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and ridicule me, you'd see that the picture of the back was only posted after I raised the question. You will see the posts I have made here and other forums asking about these watches. I do sincerely apologise for asking what I thought were reasonable questions and offering my observations. Jesus christ, I try to join in a good natured chat and get ridiculed and lampooned. And in case you're just thinking I'm a [censored], that's possibly my first bad tempered post on any forum since I started using the internet. It's not nice being made t feel like an outsider and laughed at. I'll get my coat.
  15. I've been researching for months before placing my order last week. I've used these forums amongst others to research. It does, to me, look like 2 different watches. From the front perspective, the surface of the pushers looks reasonably parallel with the rim of the pusher "sheath" protruding from the case. Given I now know this is a gen, it's rather disappointing. In the second image, it clearly doesn't. Secondly, the genuines tend to have a kind of "plate" on the top of the pusher, rather than it being merely a cylinder shape. The date positioning seems to vary, though I've never seen a rep with black date wheel. I don't understand how asking these questions comes across as rude....maybe my post count isn't high enough. Well, you could have just told me that!
  16. Is a straightforward answer for someone willing to learn beneath you? Apolgies for not being so well informed or witty as youself.
  17. Is the back taken the same watch as the front? The push buttons look skewiff from the back. It seems that some gens have te date at 6 and others at 3-4. I also thought the gens had a broaer "cap" on the push buttons (which the quartz versions of the reps do, but the mechanicals don't)
  18. Is that Monza a gen or rep? The push buttons and position of the date seem to suggest a rep but I've not seen a rep with a black date wheel. I've ordered a rep for xmas ( a cheapo quartz). If I was a man of means I wouldn't hesitate to guy a gen of this.
  19. Can I ask for advice on what is currently the best Monza rep? I really fancy one for Christmas but would like some advice first. (Who's Paul by the way? The link above doesn't work any more). Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the advice, everyone. I've managed to date the watches using this here: http://www.ittc.ku.edu/~jgauch/watch/seiko.html The manual is August 64, the auto is April 66. You know, I just dug out an old tin of Brasso and rubbed like fury - the gold is 99% in tact! I guess it was just years of grime. My dad was a mechanic and wore these watches for over 20 years, day in, day out.
  21. My dear old dad, well into his 80s, gave me a couple of his old watches today. I've been on the look out for a classic styled watch (investigating the Aqua Terra), and these, albeit "only" Seikos, really appeal to my eye. They are however in need of attention. The gold plate is shot on both, and they need new crystals. Other than that, they work fine. The one on the right is a manual. The one on the left is an automatic, quite a thick and hefty piece. You can feel the "pendulum"(?) swinging as you move the watch (sorry, I don't know the technical terms). The straps are clearly not originals. These watches are at least 35 years old, my guess is considerably older. I'd love to get at least one restored just to show my dad, I know it would please him immensely. Can anyone tell me whether they can be buffed up like new, and if so, offer advice on how it can be sensitively done? Will any half decent watchsmith be able to deal with this? Finally, I'm in the UK, in south Manchester in fact, can anyone recommend anyone in particular and how much it may cost? Many thanks in advance.
  22. Apologies, I've no idea how I typed that, it's $268 at Perfect Clones. I'll correct my original post too.
  23. Thinking about it, that's probably what makes it a "limited edition"
  24. Thanks MajorBobL, I really appreciate that. Look forward to seeing a picture. Could you perhaps possibly measure your wrist too, just to give me an idea of how it might sit on mine? Do all the dates line up nicely? Also, one error on some of these, is that the back of the case has "Constellation" written on them. I asume yours is correct in this regard?
  25. You mean he provided the leather band at no extra charge? Lucky you if so! Lovely looking by the way.. Are you pleased with the watch? Any obvious (or indeed not so obvious) flaws? Does it look good in the flesh? Finally, can I ask you too about the dimensions. I'm really concerned about it on my 6.3" wrist. I'm currently wearing an Explorer which is only about 35mm and I think is the perfect fit for me. Thanks for your patience.
