  1. Thanks, jdavis. I find it a bit disturbing that a dealer is misdescribing the movement. I'm struggling with the price, to be honest. I'm minded to get as cheap a model as I can, and put on my own choice of leather strap. One other thing - could you possibly tell me the dimensions of the watch? They are given variously between 38 and 41mm with some dealers. The gen is 39, I tried one on and it is possibly too big for me. No way could I wear a 41mm and feel comfortable.
  2. I think that blue dials contrast well with (or is that complement?) dark brown leather. I know it's a different kettle of fish but I'm on the point of buying an Omega Aqua Terra with blue dial and brown strap. Here's a pic of the gen. It's an unusual combination but I think still tasteful.
  3. In my relentless hunt for an Aqua Terra, I've become confused by the sizes. I know that the gen is 39mm and there's also a mid size 36.2mm (which is what I really want, but which noone seems to rep). SilixPrime has them at 38x46x10 (can anyone explain what the 46 relates to?) Perfect Clones has them at 40mm Trusty has them at 41 and 38 In other words, none of them are the correct size! Why is this, and why so much variation between the dealers? Are they all off different production lines? Have they measured them differently? Or are they just careless errors on their websites? It's impportant to me not because I necessarily want one that's an exact one to one, but because I want the smallest for my tiny wrist and need to ensure that what I receive is what I actually order.
  4. Thanks, Carl.
  5. I'm trying to home in on an Omega Aqua Terra, possibly from SilixPrime or Perfect Clones. However, they sell them with a variety of different movements, and I can't fathom which is the best choice. There is ETA 2892, ETA 2824 and Asian 2892 (which I've not heard of before). Curiously, the ETA 2824 and Asian 2892 are exactly the same price. Can someone please offer some guidance? Thanks in advance.
  6. I've never got on with the steel bracelet on my Explorer 1. For me, most Rolex reps are identifiable by the gap between the end link and the lugs, and I just find it uncomfortable anyway. I'm currently using a beautiful leather strap from another watch I have, and I love the look and feel of the watch now. Anyway, try as I might I cannot find a (black) leather Rolex strap with deployment clasp (rep, of course!). Does anyone know any sources? Or should I just be done with it and use any old strap I look the look of and feels comfortable (I can hear the purists gasp as I type this!)
  7. I saw the blue one with a leather strap in a dealers at the weeken, it looked superb. These watches look so much nicer in the flesh than on the monitor. You're right though - I haven't seen an accurate blue rep yet - OMEGA should be in blue and often it seems as though the blue on the reps is too light. I really wish there was a mid-sized rep. I still feel that 40mm is too big on my 6.3" wrist.
  8. I've been looking for an Aqua Terra on a leather strap for ages now. One possibility is to get oone with a bracelect and then change to a strap - but I can't find anywhere that offers one at a sensible price ($268 at Perfect Clones). If someone could please point me to where I might pick one up, I'd be ever so grateful. Second, I am rather taken with the OMSE10022 Limited Edition from Perfect Clones. You can see full details here If anyone knows anything about this I'd welcome their opinion. I've researched but can't quite understand what is "Limited Edition" about it. It's certainly far more than I ever thought I would spend on a rep ($268 plus shipping to UK)but it's close on being my dream watch (if only it were available as a mid size it would be perfect!)
  9. Quite. I am a man of impeccable taste I'm afraid I don't know that - I haven't been able to find one. By the way, Silix has responded to my email query and informs me that the power reserve indicator on the second watch does not actually function. Still, at less than thirty quid, who's complaining?
  10. Thanks. Do you know how the GMT hand is actually adjusted?
  11. I'm looking for a plain-ish Omega with a leather strap. Nothing fancy, mostly to be worn for work (boring desk based job ) And not too expensive! I've found the following at Silix which seem to fit the bill. However I can't find whether gen versions were ever made or if they are just fantasies (which doesn't bother me that much to be honest). First is this, the OME 106: And can anyone tell me what the hand with the red pointer is for? Second is this, the OME 057: And can anyone tell me what the little red sub-dial at 6 is for? All help will be appreciated. Thanks
  12. I've been researching the Formula 1 as a possible purchase for myself as something to knock about in at the weekends. I have read that the very latest versions do indeed have what they call "matching side bumpers" in the same colour as the dial.
  13. I guess the problem is identifying them. I had my fingers burnt last year with my first experience of a rep after weeks of research here. I bought a Rolex at a premium price from a dealer who was very much flavour of the month. It has so many faults it sits in my draw and is never worn. My polite emails to him went unanswered. Maybe I just got unlucky. Anyway, now I have an itch that needs scratching, I'm minded to not risk too much and take a punt on a cheaper one!
  14. Thanks. So it's literally just the movement? The case/straps etc are of the same quality?
  15. Can anyone tell me which website belongs to Silix? I have found two: silixprime.com and watchsilix.com. Are they operated by the same person, or is one of them now defunct? There appears to be large differences in the prices. I'd appreciate if anyone could clarify for me thanks!
