  1. :p What can I say, I was completely awestruck when I took a look at what he sent me. I while ago, I sent my MBW 1665 up to The Zigmeister (I had originally bought this watch from Robi when he offered it up for sale, with the money going to help his friend in Croatia).

The watch was already gorgeous when I got it, with drilled lugs, cg's modded, gen crown and tube, perfectly aged case back & case, and 2846 movmt)

I couldn't help but strive for perfection, so I sourced a gen tropic 39 superdome, a gen 1570 mvmt with a silver date wheel, and a gen 93150 heavy oyster.

The Zigmeister did the rest, and the results are simply fantastic. This watch is built as an early white letter, with superdome (correct, as I have seen gen white letters with it) and a factory straight font caseback (and it is true, back in the day if they had parts laying around, they used them up).

Here's some amateur pics I just took. The watch looks right at home laying there next to my dry suit and aqua lung reg.

  2. The Zigmeister out did himself with this one, the watch is simply outstanding! As soon as I got it home, I installed a gen folded 9315 bracelet and tried my hand for the first time at aging an insert and modding a gen pearl. Hope you like the results (I don't think I'll be able to take this one off my wrist for a while!)

    Here's a few pics:

  3. Looking very good. JoJo will be a very happy boy. :)

;) I certainly will be happy!!!! It's funny, I was looking at a gen "meters first" 5512 just today (it looks identical by the way). They're asking $4500 for the gen, and it doesn't even come with a bracelet! (or papers.. lol, might as well have a perfect rep!)

  4. A while ago when The Zigmeister modded my Davidsen 005, I was in search of a more correct dial (remember when Davidsen's had green lume?)

Anyway, I ended up getting Joshua dials for both my 005 and PVD 195. I found somewhere on the forums here that some gen 005 & 195's used the older style font dials for the first run of gens; however, I was never able to find one until today. Here's a link to it (just add "tt" where the x's are):

  5. for me yes, reps unleashed the monster :)

the rep world opened my eyes to watches and fueled an interest way above what i could ever have imagined. i went from having not even worn a watch for atleast 10 years to having a parts box littered with bits and pieces as i picked up reps, learned a whole load i didnt even think anyone thought about prior, i learned how to take apart and rebuild watches, learned about miniscule details and tells and feverishly tried to get them as accurate as possible.

i found myself drawn into vintage watches rather than moderns after the first few but no matter how much i worked on them, how good they got for me they just couldnt scratch my itch. id got to the stage where i was discarding almost the entire rep, replacing with gen parts and sinking alot of $ into a watch that would never be more than a wannabe. perhaps its my personality but rather than pride im my work i just found myself noticing all the little things everytime i wore each. i finally just bought the bullet and picked up a couple of gens instead since the price was accesible at the time.

i havent given up on reps altogether though, the price of entry for models im interested in is now often prohibitive sadly and so reps allow me to expand my hobby when this is the case, such as with my 6152 project.

beyond that i find a genuine enthusiasm and depth of knowledge amongst many on the rep boards that sadly lacking from the gen world, now filled with many treating them like stocks

In this I agree. Modding to the hilt still only results in a fake (but a very nice one I might add, more like a piece of artwork, still to be very much appreciated)

Now I'm in search of a gen 16660, or perhaps a red letter if I can find one that won't break the bank!

  6. I think I'm at the point where I'm ready to buy a genuine red letter 1680. Having my modded MBW's is great; however, I've found that the littlest thing wrong on the watch really bothers me. Especially on the red letter 1680's, the dials are never correct. I've heard of a Vietnam dial that's the closest rep, yet after months of searching i have still not been able to find one.

So, I am now seriously looking for the real thing. Problem is, who to trust? I've searched TZ, VRF and TURF, and have seen some questionable pics.

If any gen owners can help out, it would be appreciated!

  7. Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I've been thinking about this watch for a while now, and finally pulled the trigger tonight and ordered one from Paso! I can't believe how excited I am about this watch!!! I'll have to dress the part just to wear it (or can i go for that young eccentric millionaire look?) lol

  8. Oh yeah, VERY nice sir. C5. Z06? Supercharged, intercooled, wet N2O setup, aftermarket throttle body, carbon fiber everything.. Lets see more! Its my thread, I say its ok!

    Thanks!

It's lots of fun, and has absolutely insane amounts of power. C5R 427 completely built and swapped out for the original. Those brass fittings going into the intake upstream of the throttle body are methanol injection. No NOS on this puppy, as she makes all that power on pump gas & methanol at 11psi boost. Not bad for a pushrod engine B)

  9. Puretime has all 3 different dagger H-Serie movements

asian without ETA stamp (with smaller balance)

asian with ETA stamp (called swiss from other dealers)

asian/swiss BRAND NEW model (like Davidsen) - but much more expensive than the other both movements

Thanks for the reply. I've bought movements from Angus before. He always comes through, and is right there if a problem develops. I'll give the guy I bought these from a chance to respond first, although I am missing my Zig modded 111!

PS: The Zigmeister did mention to me that the movements are not ETA through and through, although the sword swan neck that's in the watch now (originally bought from River) is 100% ETA. Perhaps I'd be better off going back to that

  10. Where to get ETA dagger swan neck "H" movement?

A couple months ago I bought three of these movements to be used as replacements for my existing "H" series Pams. I had The Zigmeister do the install, and in the process he found that one of the movements was unserviceable as it was corroded and appeared to have had water intrusion. I have since attempted to contact the dealer twice (who shall remain unmentioned right now). The dealer has not returned two PM's of mine, and I am a bit disappointed.

More importantly though, I would like to get my 111H back on wrist. If anyone out there knows of a source where I can find one of these movements, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks!
