Thanks TC and very interesting. Looking forward to your update on the V3 bracelet.

there are big changes coming with the TC...out of the box it is the best. With new improved upgrades that will be offered, absolutely nothing will touch it other than gen....The TC is WM9 V4, but TC has pushed the nvelope to make it the best. I recently tested a TC case under pressure and got it to 10 ATM easily.I would not be surprised if it rivals gen to 300m.
Hymmm - actually if you want to be correct then "out of the box" would more than likely be BK due to better dial, slightly better SEL, better insert and white date wheel. TC has better crown height, cannon pin (hand height from dial) and strap has hollow mid links but that's an easy fix. Crystal is really 6 and half a dozen. The fix's mentioned that TC is working on (as i understand) are SEL, date wheel and pearl and when these are done I have no doubt that these will make a big difference.
The water resistant thing is [censored] as they are both capable of being very good in this area - more to do with the care that goes into construction.

Strange - the TW best crystal retaining ring does this but the TC one is lower profile so should not have this issue. I guess the tolerance may not be consistent and you are suffering from that - I shaved the inside of an insert gradually on a TW best and eventually it fitted fine so that solution sounds valid.
-
As I understand it's Sapphire but that is from everything I have read. Looking at the one I have it's very very smooth like glass so doubt it would be epoxy. Sure someone will have a definitive answer though
-
I fitted my TW bezel straight on to the TC crystal retaining ring and had no issues. I did this as the gen inset would have to have been slightly sanded round the edge to fit the TC bezel - not the case with my TW. The TC bezel ring does not need sanded as it has a different profile.
No idea with the movement but doubt you could use the movement ring and tabs as TC case is designed like gen which is different so you would need to try it with the TC movement ring. My pers view is that the way that the TC movement ring works is far superior to the tab approach

Mine works with a cousins gasket which is generic so no reason to doubt a gen would fit. What about the supplied crystal and gasket, or did you buy case only?

May I ask who / what is Londongeorge?

Regarding the 702/703 crowns...is it possible to take the existing crown off the stem and essentially sand off a bit from the bottom of the crown so that it is then stubbier than before?
You can indeed - stick it in a drill bit and use some sandpaper round a thin blade and just let it do the work. You actually get quite a good result. I found though that an early 703 is the best option as 702 is a fortune and 702 tube almost impossible to get!

Many thanks Andy! I am pleased with it so far!
I got the crystal along with my 5512 i got from another member.
It is a Sternkreuz tropic 19. The ref number on the crystal pack was XS 303.472. (C19230)
The crystal was a little too big, so i had to reduce the size along the outer edge so that i could get the retaining ring seated back down properly. But some Ploywatch brought that back to life!
Hey Prospex
Interesting that the Sternkreuz xs 303.472 did not fit as it is the smaller of the two available - there is a 305mm and a 303mm. The 303mm fitted perfectly on the Josh 5512 that I sold you without adjustment and was perfectly water proof. I might have put it in the wrong packet - did you try the others?
Good luck with the changes

Hymm, profile looks ok but the rehaut looks too small now - I think the crystal is sitting to high causing this

its sure the same fabric that did the WM9s or TWs - i don't understand why no other dealer offers them ?
i find TCs prices too high vs the absence of communication - at least the prices i got (600 for the parts) - sadly Prec Time is not around any more - he sold the watches as PT Supreme for around 350 Euro?
cheers,
Frank
Where has Prec Time gone? His website is still up and running with the Supreme still listed

There are white sub hands shown but I think listed wrong. I've orders a few things with no issues - email him if in doubt he replies quickly

Raffels time if it's a DG movement

Always

I've heard success stories of freezing the mid case, popping the crystal on and then the retaining ring after said ring has been warmed.
Physics apparently! The Other option is to shave/file the outer part of the crystal but this can affect the overall look and effect of the crystal.
there are actually two sizes I'm afraid 305mm and 303mm - I got both from Cousins uk and the 303mm fitted perfectly on the Josh case. I then got a gen but it was a bit tighter but not much:
-
The SG's do look stubby but they can look quite nice - here's mine
-
they might glow at the same intensity but how long till the dial out shines the hands?
Fair point but they are actually fairly consistent - you are right though they not perfect
-
Yes I have some yuki hands and the glow is a pretty good match with wm9 superlumed dial that I have. Only problem is that these are the Tudor one which have issues such as the short second hand. I will mail the as they supply hands with their conversion kit
-
Avoid the Clark hands. I'd probably ask BKLM if he could sell you a set of hands.I've used the BK hands he had superlumed by Pbdad and they are fantastic.
Thanks both - I have been in touch with BK about his new hands but it may take a bit of time until they are ready and I was looking for an interm. Guess I may just have to be patient
-
On the Crown tube I can confirm that a gen 703 will not fit the rep tube on a josh case. You are right that the early 703 is best I.e. the one with the long crown is slimmer and makes the CG's look much better.

Hi
Can anyone point me in the direction of the best supplier for Submariner hands with superlume for a 16610 with ETA 2836? Much appreciated if anyone can help

the last time i asked PT only the engraved version was available as the previous one was discontinued which would mean it wasnt the same version 1 (z serial), if he is now offering a clean rehaut then its hard to assume either way if it is indeed the same wm9 v1 mold or not. i have seen clean rehaut tw subs with m serials, they simply pull them before the machine engraves them. is your pt supreme "wm9v1" a z or an m serial?
the real question is, how well does the case compare to the gen
Fair question I'll take the bracelet off tonight and let you know. From a gen spec point of view - gen insert snapped in, clark crystal fitted perfectly and I have pressure checked, gen crown fits on existing tube
-
pts is NOT the wm9 v1. the v1 had no engraving on the rehaut. it is just another sub that accepts gen parts, possibly a tw and possibly not. judge it not by its given title.
You can get it without Rehaut engraving per pictures above- you just ask PT. The PT sub was discussed previously and by-tor was pretty sure that it was the V1
