  1. Anugs i believe.. so pure time?

    shipping is $30, $60 total,

really only the clasp is junk on these.

at the same time im buying a few more goodies to make it worth it like a noobmariner 2008 dial, its an excellent dial to have on hand if it were ever needed in the future.. who knows how long until it disappears as the ceramic sub takes over.

    Highoe

Is there anywhere you know does a decent aftermarket clasp I.e. With the straight aligned adjustment holes?

  2. @ jasf2002...to further clarify, the noob dial is too big and the WM9 fits (yes...I currently have both in my parts box). But that being said, the dial that is provided with this case set look pretty good to me. But like every good franken, you would probably want to source a gen dial anyway and a gen insert of course.

btw highoe...you get second prize for almost nailing the dealer down!

Ah - did not realise that you got a dial so thats good. BTW just measured my Noob dial against the sub Supreme flat S dial and the Noob is 1mm smaller - mind you, who knows if all the Noob dials are the same!!

Looks a very nice case to start from

  3. whats so different now to the other projects ?:D and why should a noob dial a bit too small ? Did you received the inner case diameter already ?

Not saying it's different just that the case needs to be pretty cheap to as there are loads of parts needed to complete. Size wise - certainly on my sub supreme the dial is bigger than a noob dial - I.e. If you put the noob dial in the case you need to align it and the markers do not go right up to the rehaut. If this case is the same size then that is a consideration

  4. Certainly gen like construction but need to try a gen sized insert in there. The case threads for the case back look badly done or is it the photo. Agree with highoeyazmuhudee that would need to see with a dial to gauge. Would also be useful to know if the crown tube will take a gen crown. Also it's just a case so need to find a movement ring, date wheel overlay, dial, hands and obviously a movement then stick it all together. The big issue there being a decent dial cause a noob will probably be a bit small.

What was the cost of the sub case?

  5. the problem with removing the indents on the clasp is that those clasps are drilled incorrectly to begin with, removing the indents and someone noticing the smooth flip lock but the 1/2 adjuster holes aligned the way they are will automatically suspect it since NO 93150 with a smooth flip lock has the 1/2 adjuster holes aligned like that. a better scenario is to play it off as a replacement 93250 clasp. now with the smooth flip lock its not believeable as a 93250 and with the misaligned holes is not believable as a 93150

93250 only available w/ indents 2 tiered adjusters

93150 , smooth flip lock, OR indented flip lock, linear 1/2 adjustment notches

You are spot on!! As I said ... Always learning. Guess it's easy enough to say it's an aftermarket replacement but no doubt I'll spend some time trying to find or sort. Do any of the dealers do a correct clasp?

  6. Both look great. Wear them well. :tu:

    Thanks for the comments

That wm9 v1 is looking great!

Nice combo there, fit and finish on that watch is very convincing of a $5k watch.

Which insert are you using on it?

On the 5513, how did you fix the clasp lock and remove the indents? It looks great!

I have a similar pair of old vs new.

been kinda partial to the vintage one though, the newer one gets no wrist time anymore.

Your watches are looking good - know what you mean though the vintage is a real classic design

WM9 insert is Genuine, Fits perfectly on a WM9 so took the opportunity of getting one on the bay. Close up I have to say that the Watchmaterial pearl is very very close.. just a bit off white.

A for the bracelet - Dremmel then various grades of sandpaper. I took it to polished and then used a scotchbrite pad to get an even brushed finish

  7. Hi Thought I would post a few pics of my two subs I first found this place in October last year and am fascinated by the amount of info that there is here - the how to topics and examples have been so helpful as before last October I had never taken the back of a watch. I started with couple of Timeshop Nooobmariners and they were really good - I think they gave me the bug as they were considerably better than I had expected. The problem with this forum though is that the more you read the more picky you get - Rehut depth, Crown size, Pearl etc etc all make you strive for a better 'look'. Up first is my Sub Supreme from PT - I think this is the same as the old WM9 V1 or BK's current Sub but don't really know. I got a non engraved rehaut version as I was a bit wary of alignment issues - the Noob's were poor and I ended up removing on them.... thats a long story on its own! I have done the following Mod's

    PT Sub Supreme:

    Noobmariner Bracelet

    Sub Supreme clasp

    Clark Crystal

2.5mm Rolex Gasket (BK recommends this in a post somewhere to go with Clark Crystal and get the right Crystal HeightGen InsertReplace

All Crown Tube seals with new ones

Crown Guards shaved (takes a lot of effort)

Gen Crown - fits straight on

    Noobmariner Dial

Next up is Josh's 5512 - I was inspired by another thread on this. Its a great case but guess the Crown Guards could be better but the overall construction is really good. I have not done ageing as I like it looking like it is - I intend to replace the dial with a 5513 and say its a Service replaced.

    Josh's 5512

    Drilled out lug holes

Rehaut needed a good bit of TLC

    Crown guard work

New thick tube (did not use a gen as I think these are to wide for the low crown position - I installed a gasket between the tube and case just like gen)Gen Crown

Sorted the clasp lock (removed the incorrect indents

Gen Tropic 19 (that took a bit of searching)

    Gen Bezel

  8. Hi

I have 5512 with the Asia 21j movement - when removing the second hand from the cannon pin it snapped and stuck in the hand. I have a spare Asia 21j movement and thought u could upgrade the hands. Does anyone know if ETA hands will fit this movement? and if so a good supplier e.g. Yuki? And if they don't fit on the Asia is there anywhere to get decent 5512 replacements for the Asia?

  9. Thank star I'll give it a go, bezel turns fine with out the washer, all be it a bit roughly.

I had that issue - it's the washer / tension ring whatever you call it. I used some fine sand paper and sanded one side down - be careful and take it slowly as it's pretty thin. Mine now turns fine.

  10. the stock 7mm modern Submariner crown fits without changing the tube - but i used the 703 with is a bit smaller - this one doesn't fit

for the new tube you have to remove the old crown - mile the case a bit that the new tube sits correct on the case and retap.

and here are the last pics - i promise ;)

Understand - thanks for the info on that. New Pics look really great!

  11. Frank

Thanks this is a great review with lots of info. Can I ask you mentioned a few posts ago that "standard sub crown fits on the tube" but then I think you have changed the tube - was this to fit a smaller crown or did the gen crown not fit? If you did change the tube what did you use and was it a straight swap or a machining job?

  12. Try Watch Material, look under watch case parts, bezel inserts. They sell pearls without the bezel.

Ok thanks tictoc21 I was not looking hard enough - the pearl at Watch material looks the business and I have ordered one up. The wanted $15 for shipping for the UK but were really good and reduced this to $5 which seems like a fair dael! I will let you know how i get on when received and fitted.

  13. Thanks for the replies - looks like there are a few options:

ofrie - however it looks like the dot that sits in the metal surround rather than the whole part, any one know if this is so?

Yuki - this looks clear and i guess you put the lum inside to suit it again looks interesting as it seems to be the entire piece but is all acrylic rather than metal and the dot - guess there were different versions on gen's hence the wide variety. Also sure I have read somewhere that these are out of stock.

I have ordered a full bezel from the bay (Luxury Deals Store - i'm not allowed to attach a link) it looks similar to the yuki offering i.e. all acrylic rather than having a metal surround like a gen 16610 - I attach a picture of what I mean by the metal surround

  14. Hi folks looking for a bit of guidance. I got a Noobmariner from Timeshop and am really pleased. Yes it has flaws like the crown etc but you need to be really into watches to know these are flaws. My problem is that the bezel pearl including the metal surround has fallen out. Despite a lot of searching about I cannot find where to get a replacement part. As the pearl was a poor part of the rep I would like to replace with a better part.

Can anyone recommend a supplier or do I just need to buy an entire replacement bezel and take the pearl out?

    Thanks for any help
