  1. Boy I feel stupid now. That's the classic case of "you should have read the fine print". :D

Yeah, it looked way too good anyway. And yep... lots of variation on YM dials: The YACHT-MASTER font boldness, the coronet placement and SWISS MADE at '6 all vary a lot. Even the date font can be thicker or thinner.

If it helps at all, I thought the same thing you did and got ready to pull the trigger... I have the GEN, and I wanted to compare side-by-side. LMAO. We're all human.

  2. Ken--

My heart goes out to you and your family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one. Just remember all the wonderful thoughts and good times... and she will live on in your hearts and memories for eternity. All my best to you my friend. Thousands of miles may separate us, but if you need anything you know how to reach me.

    Sincerely-

    J

  3. I can and STRENUOUSLY deny this-

Germany 1934-1945: Hitler removes the right of firearm ownership from all ethnic minorities in occupied territory. 15+ million marched defenseless into death camps. Famous Quote: "For the first time in history a civilized nation has a complete system of firearm registration. Our streets shall be safer, our police more effective and the world shall follow our lead into the future."

Russia 1917-1990: Lenin and Stalin (and their successors) remove the right of firearms ownership from the populace. 30+ million marched defenseless to gulags and against walls in occasional purges.

Rwanda 1992-1995: Majority Hutu clans forcibly remove firearms from the minority Tutsis (along with moderate Hutus) and 800,000+ individuals are slaughtered.

China 1930-present: Communist leaders remove the right of firearms ownership from the population. 40+ million unarmed individuals murdered. Famous Quote: "Governmental power arises from the barrel of a gun"

Cambodia 1974-1980: Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot removes firearms from minority hill tribes and those deemed not politically reliable. 8+ million unarmed individuals killed by the government.

Zimbabwe 2000-present: Majority black rulers remove firearms ownership rights from minority whites. A quiet genocide begins to involve gang rape rape, torture and wholesale slaughter of entire families.

December 7 1993 New York: Colin Ferguson boards a LIRR train and kills 6 people and wounds 19. Mr. Ferguson states he committed this crime in New York because he knew nobody would have a firearm so he would not be shot himself.

United States 1990's-present: "Shall Issue" policies regarding concealed weapons become the norm rather than the exception. FBI UCR (Uniform Crime Reports) show a 67% decrease in violent crimes in the following 12 months in states adopting such policies. These numbers have remained steady for the past 10 years.

In addition- I spend my time surrounded not just by guns but automatic weapons. Every single individual I work with is armed with no less than an automatic (NOT semi-automatic) rifle or submachinegun and a handgun. None of us has shot each other over the past 20 years.

I often wonder about the delusional mind of those who favor additional gun laws tacked onto the 35,000 existing ones. Does anyone honestly believe someone who wants to commit the ultimate crime, the single most destructive thing one human can do to another, will suddenly stop and say "I better not kill this guy because I might get in trouble for having a gun"? How can someone support the theory that a 120 pound woman should be forced to fistfight a 280 pound rapist? According to the FBI UCR for the past 20 years more people have been killed with hands and feet than with misnamed "assault weapons" (an assault weapon is one capable of both semi automatic and full automatic fire and have been essentially illegal since 1934). Perhaps we should ban hands and feet from the general public. Ater all, only a police officer or a soldier really needs hands and feet.

I for one will not look to big daddy government to come help my family and I. I have been in law enforcement for over 12 years and KNOW what response times are and what happens when the deputy is on the other end of the county from the call. I do not pass my obligation to stand in harms way when some tweaker kicks in my front door to someone else- I stand firm and end the threat to my life and safety- PERIOD.

Also, having an anscestor who was a Polish Jew and knowing my great grandfather was forced to wear a yellow star, was beaten and humiliated and marched into a [censored]ing oven without a chance for him, his family and his countrymen to defend themselves kind of gives me a strong opinion on the subject. NEVER AGAIN is the cry of Israel and it should be heeded- they know of what they speak.

Above all, to the sheep in the world, the sole reason you sleep secure in your bed is because rough men stand ready to do violence on your behalf.

Thank you for your service! I couldn't have said it better myself!

As an individual who HAS taken the life of another, I can promise you that it is NOT pleasant. But knowing what I know and having seen what I have seen.... I can promise you that those of you that are against guns know NOTHING of what true evil and violence is. If you did, you'd understand the concept of being able to defend yourself and why those of us that are pro-gun feel so strongly about it.

It's already been stated that you can kill someone with a car, a knife or even a razor. Why no cry for these things to be restricted?

I blame the media and the way it sensationalizes everything.

Someone said that war has caused the kids these days to be violent. I say bs. The fault there lies with the PARENTING.

I grew up shooting guns. I was raised with a shotgun and a rifle on my wall. I went to a HIGH SCHOOL THAT HAD A SHOOTING TEAM. In the ENTIRE HISTORY of that school there was not a SINGLE violent act committed with a gun. There were SEVERAL committed with baseball bats, hockey sticks and cooking knives.

    Something to think about.

  4. yes, of course. not the whole bezel fell off, just the thin "decorated / criss-cross" ring. That little ring is actually glued on the bezel!

Sorry guys... I should have specified. The ring that yodap is referring to is what I've lost.

  5. So.... the bezel to my 6.75 fell off today.

    Somewhere.

Somewhere between here and 50 miles from my house.

Anybody got any idea where to get a new one? My dealer has been non-responsive.

(the timepiece is about 6 months old)

  6. LMAO at all the theories and " Google " research.

How many of you have any military experience at all, let alone SF or SPECWAR experience?

The US trains and trains with almost every large-scale organization mentioned. Our advantage is clear. We have more money, better technology and an overall better mindset.

This is NOT US-brainwashed propaganda either. This is coming from someone that has trained with the best everyone has to offer... and knows what each group has to offer.

I respectfully tip my hat to Her Majesty's SAS and the Israeli SF. I've had the pleasure of working with both... and they are by far the most impressive.

  7. Sorry for the late update guys.

    We had a BLAST!

Ended up buying a Cockpit for my lady. (no jokes, please)

They had every single Breitling available for purchase out so that you could admire them, handle them and try them on! Just walk over, pick it up and put it on.

Outside of the dining area, on the boulevard, they had three different models of the new Bentley's. (the CARS)

I was admiring the new-for-08 dial Super Avenger when a thin fellow came over and grabbed my wrist. I ended up wearing my Panerai 111H. We engaged in conversation for a few minutes before he introduced himself as the PRESIDENT of Breitling. The most interesting part of the conversation? He was recently hired as the president for Breitling, but he USED to be the president of PANERAI! He commended me on my watch choice and then jokingly pointed at this wrist, saying that he was wearing a boy's sized watch now. Apparently when he got the job he was sent down to the vault to pick out whatever he wanted. He chose a black dial Navitimer with arabic numerals and a black w/white stitch strap.

We had a few beers then some cocktails and snagged the food as it was strolled by on various trays.

Suprisingly enough, there were quite a few Rolex's, a lot of IWC's and only a few Breitling's on the wrists. Most of the people there were not collectors. They just had a LOT of money. I saw two AP ROO's and quite a few ladies wearing Cartier's. My Panerai was sort of snubbed until the guests saw the president trying my 111H on for memories. He even commented on my TWB strap, saying that it was nicer than the Panerai straps!

It was a great night. I got the President's card and email. He's going to be in town until this Sunday, so we're going to head out for dinner tonight and talk timepieces. He's a charming guy and much more engaging than most President's of companies that I've met before. He joked that he needed to get back into the gym and asked me how often I trained. A really fun guy.

    Now for the pictures!

  8. So you know you buy entirely too many GEN Breitlings when you get an invite to have cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and dinner with the president of Breitling USA. They'll be unveiling the new pieces from Baselworld '08 here.

It's limited to 100 people, so I should be able to snap quite a few pictures if they'll let me!

I'm wearing my GEN 6.75 for this occasion. I contemplated wearing my HBB (b/c it's so damn good)

If I can snag some Breitling swag, I'll auction it off and donate the proceeds to the board!

    Cheers!

  9. Pardon me, I just came back to look at the picture again... :bounce:

Just for you my friend.... I took this one in natural daylight on our red couch... gotta love a 50mm 1.4

I just don't see the Anna Kournikova reference... but she certainly appreciates the compliment!

Thanks for all the compliments and the ideas. One poster simply recommended putting clear nail polish over the SS caseback of the Chanel J12.... I kinda like that idea.... anything else? She doesn't like my PAM's (GEN or REP) seeing as how she is TINY. (as in my Rolex pieces look huge on her).

    Thanks again guys!

  10. Has anyone told you she looks like Anna Kournikova <_<

Davidsen's 055 White dial titanium would look great on her IMO

You think so? That's a first. The picture that I've posted here is a little deceiving. It was for one of her comp cards a while back. She's only 5'5.

I think Ms. Kournikova has her beat... ha ha ha.

You don't think a 055 would look too big on her?

  11. She's pretty ;-) She's worth whatever you have to spend...

I was going to say a Titanium watch, but I don't know of any good ladies reps that are Titanium.

If you want to go expensive, a gen Rado on ceramic would be nice. They are completely made of ceramic. There's a lot of cool watches made of alternative materials these days, and ones where just the leather touches the wrist like this one

    A407-hero.jpg

I agree completely and I'm willing to spend whatever it takes. The BEST part about her is that she doesn't care for expensive things. She's very down-to-Earth.... she loves football and wings more than I do, and could care less about trendy bags or nice jewelry. She thinks my collection of (gen) Breitlings and Rollies is silly, and wonders why I don't stick to just REPS.

Thanks for the ideas.... any reps of these? I know the ceramic Chanel is decent (as mentioned before) but it still has the SS caseback and the bad caseback fitment issues.

I only ask for rep suggestions, b/c as mentioned earlier, she doesn't want me to spend a lot of $$$ on it... but I'd like her to have a nice looking watch with a decent swiss movement. Swiss quartz is fine too.

Thanks for all the help guys!

  12. The better half needs a nicer watch than the Fossil she's rockin'.... The only caveat is that she is allergic to nickel, and thusly, cannot wear anything that is stainless steel. Not even a caseback can make contact.

Short of a large PAM on a military strap, does anyone on this wonderful board full of smart, intelligent, innovative people have ANY ideas?

I've included a pic of her for motivation.

Please note that any jewelry you see her wearing is either platinum or white gold. Not exactly cheap. I have no hopes or desires to pay for a rep of that nature... if I'm going to spend that much, I'll go GEN.

    Thanks!

  13. Do your homework. TTK was in active service in the armed forces.

    I stand corrected then.

Still doesn't change my views of how he looks at things. If I'm wrong he's welcome to correct me as I wish him no ill intent nor am I the least bit upset. This is an academic arguement, nothing more.

His views seem NARROW. I understand where he's coming from and I agree on some points... but he's simply unwilling to perceive anything from our (pro-gun) points.

At least, that's the way it seems...

I'm hoping we can open up to a friendly discussion, minus the typical-TTK rants and insults. It's easy to discern that he's an intelligent person with good points, but it's hard to respect what he has to say when he starts attacking you personally.

I think we can all agree on that.

Consider this my extension of the truce flag to TTK, in hopes that we can further this discussion without ill-will, malice, or silly arguement.
