  1. first off, the canal street guys dont have them laying out anymore, so dont be suprised if you dont see any. just ask, and they'll break em out. some might say no if they think you're a cop, but you'll do ok.

    Thanks lions,

But, my plan is to use one of our vendors here, and tell her i got it on Canal St. - that way I think I'll get a better watch for her -- problem is I don't really know anything about ladies models, and which model Rollie to get.

  2. I get to New York City every so often, and on my last trip I told her I'd get her a watch from a street vendor. well, I forgot and ended up going to Macy's to buy her a watch before heading home. I told her a "white lie" and said it was from a street vendor and I got it very cheap --- she loved it, mostly beacuse she thought it purchased on the street for cheap. Well now she wants a fake Rolex...okay, but which one. I have no clue about ladies Rollies.

I'll get it from one of our vendors, of course ... but which watch?

Any ideas? TT or FG, diamonds...etc.? Which model?

    Thanks for the ideas, guys.

    John

  3. Before I pull the trigger on the "Perfect" Sea Dweller at $328, just thought I'd get some opions. I've purchase 7 watches all together from these vendors over the last few months and have been very pleased. But as I recall when this watch was available, it was $258 or so, and one of the better Rollie reps.

    Any opinions?

    Thanks :thumbsupsmileyanim: ,

    John

  4. Hummm.... which member among the various boards would have a reason to be [censored] recently? Any firings or disciplinary action been taken of late to cause a disgruntled individual who thinks they've been done wrong?

    /Tim

...very good point! I don't mean to point a finger, buuuut, there's a big ugly seal I've seen around here that looks guilty as hell to me. :g:

  5. Man that's the perfect reply...

I buy reps because I love searching for them, make them better, doing frankens, everything. Buying a gen is too simple

    ...too simply, and too costly!

I think the reasons for owning reps vary per individual. A lot of it for me is the fun of the hunt, and owning something very close to the gen in design. I am not into fooling anyone, or having the 'perfect' rep, but that's just me.

  6. I'm replacing the pearl on my Sub, which fell out and was lost. Mine is water resistant, so I shower with it on and its my daily beater, as well. Any ideas on the glue I should use to glue in the replacement pearl?

I've been using Gorilla Glue lately for just about everything - but it expands 2 to 3 times its volume, and has a tendency to run.

    Thanks for the input,

    John H.

  7. IMO, watches are a very personal thing - chances are you'll never buy someone exactly the watch they want. That being the case, and shooting for the center of the budget, get 'em a simple Rolex, or a great Omega or Breit. All name brand, high-end watches that will go a long way in the excitement dept. Choose a non-Rolex and go Chrono.

Rolex, well that is a whole book, and I think chieftang is right on the money.

But Omega, how about the 'Moon Watch'?:

Or a Breit... how about a classic Navatimer?:

  8. .... IMHO, trusty's 21j Asian sub is the same as the so-called ‘noobmariner’, and you don't need a special code (or secret decoder ring) to order one; he even returns email inquiries. But there again, if you prefer jumpin' threw hoops just to order a watch - ttk's your guy. :whistling:
