  1. If you had an unlimited budget, but could only own and wear one ‘genuine’ watch, which one would it be?

This might sound boring (it probably is), but for me, it’d be the Rolex Sub no-date. I have owned about a dozen nice gens over the last thirty years or so, but for some reason I always gravitate toward sub-type watches. They seem to work well with a suit or casual and they are simple and sturdy in design. And the Rolex gen bracelet that some say is flimsy, feels comfortable to me – and appears to be designed that way.

It'd be the 14060M for me :victory:

  2. ... I'd have to say hands down, TTK and four of his friends -- he seems like one crazy-ass SOB ...and with four of his friends at a pub (or strip club)... and me drinking Long Island's (and the VIP room) ... well, it could make for a real memorable night. :)

    …just a thought.

  3. I bought an XXL 6498 Omega Railmaster rep a few months back with the intent of swapping in a gold skeleton Swiss 6498 from crazy Bob O. just for fun - but the cost, in total, will be just under $500 so i have been looking at some nicer alternatives for around the same $ and found this on ebay.

    Beautiful job by tourbillon1801. Wow!

Thought I'd share it -- I think this is LOVE.... $749 USD

  4. I haven't done a lot of daytona research because it's not high on my list, but if you're not concerned with authenticity maybe try to source one with the unmodified 7750 with seconds running at 9.

Dunno, maybe someone with more knowledge and experience will chime in.

does the unmodified daytona have the narrow or wide subdial spacing? ....thanks

  5. I admit it - I don't have the intestinal fortitude to figure out which one is best or why...please help.

I don't care if it looks true to the original or not (I know, that's terible, really) I just want a good watch in and of itself. I know the asian 7750 is taking a chance, but is one of these beter than the other...and what about the wrap vs. plating issue.

Thank you ... I really am a lazt ass! But I just want a TT Daytona.... see, i didn't even use spell cheque.

    Bless you, Bless you all!

  6. I really am not sure why they would design the watch so big that virtually no one can actually wear it without looking like an absolute clown.

I really appreciate indenial's shots and willingness to tack a little flack here, but it just looks stupid in my opinion. I think if the lugs overhang your wrist THE WATCH IS TOO BIG!

I mentioned this before but I honestly think that people will view this watch as a novelty, as if you were wearing giant joke sunglasses or something. It seems like somehting a prop comic would use in a bit or a clown would use to entertain 10 year olds at a backyard birthday party.

...this was actually designed and sold as a military pilot's watch - fitting over the jump suit. In that role i think it may make better sense (very legible) - but seems too big for me and I have 8" wrist....J.

  7. Why don't the yfinally build a GOOD 16600 rep?

...exactly, everyone keeps clamoring for an exact 1:1 Rolex Sub that takes gen parts -- build it and they will come. Even those of us that already have Subs in some form or fashion, will have to buy one. Hell, you'd be able to charge extra too.

  8. I just got back from Sin City, Las Vegas. Had a blast, played a lot of Poker, didn't even check my email for a whole week!! That's right no computer or internet of any kind.

I didn't withdraw from watches by any means. I stopped at every watch store I could. Tried on watches in Caesar's, Bellagio, MGM, Venetian, Bally's, some pawn shops in downtown. I got great service wearing my rep 251 and 116523 daytona even (hehe). AD sales people are uninformed, but very nice and accommodating. I even tried on a $60,000 iced out AP RO chrono. I asked about the big sized iced offshore and the sales lady said we just sold it for around $80K. I said too bad, that's the one I wanted.

I reccommend everyone should go to Las Vegas at least once. One hell of a town. Gambling, great food, beautiful women and the best shopping in the world!!! Can't wait to go back.

Wow... what great fun. Nothing better than walking into as many AD's as you can find, and deceiving them into thinking you're a 'playa'... Bravo! :yeah:

  9. Well that is down to the buyer. Only time will tell if we are still wearing 45mm POs or railmaster XXLs in 2-3 years. In the 60s and 70s people wore flared trousers and then in the 80s you would not dare now look around, if you follow fashions then you will wear what is in fashion. personaly i still wear now what i wore when i was 20 as it suited me and my life style then and still does. Some people will find that they are a "pam man" to coin a phase and maybe always like the same thing, not also to forget brand loyalty even among reps!

    ... wait a moment, here - I'm still wearing flared trousers! :D

  10. Here's my daily beater -- can't seem to take it off. $399.00 directly from Steinhart. Swiss Eta 2824 - 1,000 Ft/300 M - feels great on the wrist. To me it feels better than the James Bond SMP I had. The only thing I have that is more comfotable is my Railmaster w/ leather strap.

Best of all, don't have to worry about scratching it, or getting it wet.

  11. Maybe these watches really are unobtainable…here's Josh's reply to my inquiry RE: his ti Seawolf:

    "Hi John,

SOrry sir.. This watchhas been phased for the meantime... All SS and Ti version.. Both are no longer produced.

    thanks

    joshua"
