  1. I found Josh at his new address - what's the big secret here? Is this the result of the Swiss Big Brother thing?
  2. Alan Furman: http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/omega1.html has Omega Seamaster PO 45.50 (2200.50.00) for $2,310.00
  3. Thanks for the help -- I think in makes good sense to stay with the SS or TT, as well...John H.
  4. Thanks lions, But, my plan is to use one of our vendors here, and tell her i got it on Canal St. - that way I think I'll get a better watch for her -- problem is I don't really know anything about ladies models, and which model Rollie to get.
  5. I get to New York City every so often, and on my last trip I told her I'd get her a watch from a street vendor. well, I forgot and ended up going to Macy's to buy her a watch before heading home. I told her a "white lie" and said it was from a street vendor and I got it very cheap --- she loved it, mostly beacuse she thought it purchased on the street for cheap. Well now she wants a fake Rolex...okay, but which one. I have no clue about ladies Rollies. I'll get it from one of our vendors, of course ... but which watch? Any ideas? TT or FG, diamonds...etc.? Which model? Thanks for the ideas, guys. John
  6. ... well, sadly, I am not a real uber-accurate-rep replica-type. Anything close that'll keep good time, and I'd call it a success. Money's not really a big issue, but I don't think I have the patience to go after a MBW vintage 1665. Unless someone wants to unload one in my direction Cheers, John
  7. Before I pull the trigger on the "Perfect" Sea Dweller at $328, just thought I'd get some opions. I've purchase 7 watches all together from these vendors over the last few months and have been very pleased. But as I recall when this watch was available, it was $258 or so, and one of the better Rollie reps. Any opinions? Thanks , John
  8. This all strikes me as being very funny, actually. What a great read! All of this whining, as if you weren't dealing with vendors that were procuring illicit, illegal, counterfeit goods. They are all trafficking in illegal goods, committing criminal acts; but they
  9. Look, all I'm saying is that to me, the seal is the only one with a clear motive here -- and he looks guilty as hell to boot. Give the seal back his bucket, please!
  10. ...very good point! I don't mean to point a finger, buuuut, there's a big ugly seal I've seen around here that looks guilty as hell to me.
  11. ... I think they're all lucky they didn't get the ruler to the knuckles...god that hurts!
  12. ...too simply, and too costly! I think the reasons for owning reps vary per individual. A lot of it for me is the fun of the hunt, and owning something very close to the gen in design. I am not into fooling anyone, or having the 'perfect' rep, but that's just me.
  13. thanks, flip...is there a brand you'd look for?
  14. I'm replacing the pearl on my Sub, which fell out and was lost. Mine is water resistant, so I shower with it on and its my daily beater, as well. Any ideas on the glue I should use to glue in the replacement pearl? I've been using Gorilla Glue lately for just about everything - but it expands 2 to 3 times its volume, and has a tendency to run. Thanks for the input, John H.
  15. Frankly, to be honest here, I am an smug elitist #$%hole – man, he's got my number - this guys good...real good!
  16. I was looking at the Ebel 1911's and came across this Seiko. Is this their Ebel 1911 knock-off? Seiko Sportura Alarm Chrono:
  17. Trusty had the model as a 'coming soon' on his website a few weeks back, then it disappeared. I'd love to have one.
  18. Retail price is $4,250, or so, Alan Furman (Washington, DC area) sells them for $2,890. http://www.alanfurman.com/noframes/omega1.html
  19. IMO, watches are a very personal thing - chances are you'll never buy someone exactly the watch they want. That being the case, and shooting for the center of the budget, get 'em a simple Rolex, or a great Omega or Breit. All name brand, high-end watches that will go a long way in the excitement dept. Choose a non-Rolex and go Chrono. Rolex, well that is a whole book, and I think chieftang is right on the money. But Omega, how about the 'Moon Watch'?: Or a Breit... how about a classic Navatimer?:
  20. ...wasn't the first Casino Royale a '60's spoof with Peter Sellers and Woody Allen?
  21. .... IMHO, trusty's 21j Asian sub is the same as the so-called ‘noobmariner’, and you don't need a special code (or secret decoder ring) to order one; he even returns email inquiries. But there again, if you prefer jumpin' threw hoops just to order a watch - ttk's your guy. .
  22. ...don't mean to get off topic here (sorry) but I found this great looking Tissot with a Swiss ETA 2824-2 mvt. for just over $400 Wow! anyway - here's another cool Seiko for under $200
