  1. Been awhile since I've been home @ RWG...nice to see all the new reps and projects our members are still doing. This one looks Fantastic Kruzer, inspired me to get a Chronopassion as well...and maybe a project if the bug bites again dave in SF
  2. Rob and Jen are both great, we are lucky to have them as part of our community. I've been off the forums for a while as other priorities in life have taken precedence, but this will always be my home base @ RWG. I've had work on dozens of super reps which are now in the hands of several members, but his attention to detail and craftsmanship is a true asset to us all. Part of my enjoyment has been the journey of sourcing all the best parts and having Rob transform a very good rep into a piece of art. I'm hoping all the members I have sold these special pieces are enjoying them. Thanks for sharing with us Rob, I look forward to hopefully sharing some drinks with you and Jennifer later this summer if I make it out your way from San Francisco. dave
  3. Very NICE Dadog, I love mine as well...the one rep that will ALWAYS stay in my collection. Congrats on the pickup, a rarer and rarer piece that I'm sure you'll be enjoying for along time. dave
  4. it almost makes you want to cash out and move overseas to costa rica...
  5. Great review in the supporting section. I'm not one to push new members to pay to become supporting members, but with membership comes privileges, and I think everyone that is a member of RWG gain so much insight into our love of watches that we should all be here to support our home. dave
  6. Awesome Lani and Team, I'm already ready to just pull the trigger and order one...and kicking myself for selling my oem black gator last month since I didn't think the grail rep would ever be replicated correctly. dave
  7. Damn it, that looks sweet! I've been on the lookout forever on a deal on a gen, but this looks REALLY good! A chief AR and a The Zigmeister superlume and you're good...now I'm really regretting selling my OEM Black gator last month
  8. Tourneau WILL give inflated trade in values, and a bonus is that you only pay tax on the price difference after trade in. The sales guys are hurting and will make deals. You're almost better off buying a used gen on ebay, verifying the trade in value they will give you, and trade it in toward your purchase.
  9. I agree Brian, Villanova has been playing great and anything can happen but UNC looks pretty solid. I love Rick P, I love coaches not only in sports but in life who can bring out the best in people. Here's a link to another AMAZING coach, Jimmy V...AMAZING PERSON http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePXlkqkFH6s&feature=email dave
  10. I've been so busy that I missed the first couple rounds of the Big Dance, but now that we're down to the Final Four...I've caught the fever. Go Tarheels, pulling for NC this year although I thought Louisville had a shot...I've loved coach Rick Pitino from his Kentucky days. I was so out of this year I didn't even get my March Madness picks in...hope everyone else are doing well in your brackets. dave
  11. Audis are great, I love German cars too. I had a Audi A8 Quattro for 4 years which I enjoyed thoroughly until my tranny went out, a costly $8000 fix. Lots of 4 wheel power for a heavy car. Other than the transmission problem, it drove like a champ. My girlfriend currently has an Audi A4 quattro which is a fun little car to drive, great for parking in San Francisco. I love BMWs too, but they've let me down...owned a 3series convertible in my 20s which was in the shop often, and my last was a 540i which was a blast to drive until things started falling apart on it around 85k miles, 2 cylinders were misfiring, etc. I've driven the Audi TT and it's a fun car with fun performance. I'm currently driving a CL500, but thinking about going smaller again in my next car. The funny thing is...the only car that NEVER gave me any problems was my Honda Accord I used through High School and College...forgot to do oil changes, sometimes a service here and there, and it served me well on long roadtrips through college until it got in a wreck. The only car that never gave me any problems...but of course not the same driving experience we're all talking about
  12. With the economy being where it's at, there are TREMENDOUS watch buying opportunities in the used/resale market. I would keep an eye on ebay, risti and Timezone for some killer deals. I'm maxed out with my PAM collection with 4 gens and 3 reps right now, but there are some deals I would have fallen over for last year if they were available.
  13. Congrats on a successful procedure Dani, I may get my peepers zapped one day also! dave
  14. Eddie Lee was one of our legendary dealers back in the day, my favorite until he retired. This watch is long gone, several members on here were lucky to grab one of these(mine is safely resting as we speak). Post a WTB ad and you may get lucky, I had posted mine for sale about a year ago and glad that I passed on the offers.
  15. So many good watches, I've owned close to 60+ reps and this is my list in no particular order and sold almost all of them over time... 1) Breitling Skyland. I've owned the rep and own the gen...this is a Very accurate rep. In fact I owned the rep twice and sold them each after having The Zigmeister superlume them. I am keeping the BS as it satisfies my "darkside". A relume will fix the misplaced lume dots and give you proper lume. This is a very surprising watch for the price and build quality and should be on everyone's list. 2)) HBB Ceramic...love it, don't wear it enough but it's one of the few reps I have kept. Some watches have the it factor...the HBB does. The ceramic bezel sets the watch off... 3) Cartier Santos 100 7753 Chrono...I wish this was still available, sold mine to a member overseas who is enjoying it. Dead on in all ways, same movement, proper dial...put a gen Cartier strap on and I challenge you to have someone call you out. It feels like it should...I would have another one if they were still around. There are a few lucky members out there that have them...you know who you are. 4) IWC 3717 first generation from Eddie Lee...after an eta 7750 swap(this also swaps the day/date, superlume and a Chieftang AR...you have a stunner. Sold mine to a member who got it for his brother graduating from college...nice brother. The first generations were the best and are long gone...regret letting mine go. 5) Frank Muller 2892 SOLID GOLD Casablanca run made by Eddie Lee back in the day...sold mine to Uncle Jay. This is the small exclusive run orchestrated by Archibald...solid gold case in 18k with the same 2892 used in the gen...miss it, Uncle Jay got it because I haven't gone small again since I started wearing PAMs. 6) Breitling SFSO Swiss...I let this go only because it wasn't getting enough wrist time. I went for white and slapped a gen black rubber strap on it and it was good to go. AR is very good for a rep, had mine relumed by The Zigmeister as well as the pearl. Beautiful piece that's solid and should be on the list of any newbie just getting in. I own 4 gen Panerais, but in some respects, I actually love my modded reps more...because of the journey of putting them together...sourcing the parts, sharing hookups and the friendship with other valued members, and having a true artisan like The Zigmeister create these beautiful babies...these are the ones I love most. 7) PAM 196 7753 old case from EL. After a The Zigmeister superlume, Chief single AR, Lello DW swap, gen crown install, it's an amazing watch. The twin brother 188 in white dial is awesome as well, but I think the black dial 196 is more accurate...I own a gen 188 and wish I kept it, but let it go during one of my watch cleansing moments. I feel good about it going to The Zigmeister himself...obviously Rob knows a good watch when he sees, er...works on one These are long gone, the new cases are not the same. PAM 063 2893. Gotta love those silver seconds hand sweeping! Same movement as gen, gen Crown swap, The Zigmeister tritium lume, Lello DW swap and cyclops swap, and you have a PAM you'll love. Long gone, some older members occasionally let them go to other members. I made this mistake after doing all the mods to one before(I think I sold this one to Dani), but regretted having a GMT...so got a chance a year later to pick one up by luck. 9) PAM 27 2892. Awesome silver arrow power reserve with soprod movement just like the gen. Add a The Zigmeister tritium lume, gen crown swap, Lello DW swap and cyclops swap, and you have one of the very few big arrow power reserves out there. 10) PAM 28 2892. After getting this beautiful hobnob dial, send it out for a proper PVD treatment...mine went to the special spa where the Panerai used to send their watches for PVD which returned an amazing grey PVD color. Another awesome silver arrow power reserve with soprod movement just like the gen. Do the same The Zigmeister tritium lume, gen crown swap, Lellow DW swap and cyclops swap and you'll have a PVD masterpiece on your hands. We can easily do a TOP 25 list as there are many other amazing watches that can make everyone's list... dave
