  1. Another point is TC posted a 2678-2 in the case, crown stem still not fitted to the movement. It raises the question how many different cases he has. 2678-2 is a thicker movement which was used in the v2. So that case may be different (may be a v2), or the 2678-2 will be force-fitted in the v4 case (the stem will be bent once fitted on the movement through the crown hole). Anyway, it's the safest for you to ask for v serial and v serial only because v2 didn't get the v serial stamping at all.

    bk

Yes, the 2678 is a day-date movement and thicker, if you study TC's 2678 fitted case closely you will notice, it has not had the so-called " movement receiving hole" (the half-moon arc at 8'o clock position) for mounting screws to slip in. Its more likely a V2 case made for 2836 with low crown position.

  2. I'm a bit suspicious of this TC Submariner, to be honest. Too many things look identical to the old WM9 watches for my comfort. He has shown a WM9 case before, and the 2678 is the old WM9 v2 movement.

Personally, I'd much rather pay a small premium to BK (who I trust) than send $400+ to a new builder who has not yet delivered a single watch. In time that may change, but it's not going to change overnight.

Second that! If it's truly a V3 case with correct gen 3135 crown height, fitting a 2678 in it? Where is the "receiving hole" as per gen or V3 cases shown in this 2678 case? TC could you explain? BK has earned his respect over the years, no doubt about it.

  3. Zeleni, wait until you get your watch. You judge a bit too fast for my opinion. As said before, when it turns out that this is a real alternative and the dealer keeps what he promises than everybody is fine but until this is not happen I wouldn´t be so loud with things that are not yet on the table :)

+1, according to TC, he brings in only 5 cases at a time and "don't wanna be a dealer", so only some selected few will be receiving his case set/parts every now and then...

Out of curiosity, does anybody actually received anything from TC?

  4. I have acquired one each of the H-factory 111M and 177M, getting ready to do the usual parts transplant into my 111J, upon close inspection I could see the new 111 & 177 both have the pry notch on the bezel @ 11, when I looked from underneath (movement removed) I could see a black rubber o-ring like thing in between the mid case and the bezel. Has anybody here actually removed the bezel and crystal to do the similar? Are these new M serial from H-factory changed over to gen constructed cases?

BTW, my new twins both have the engraved SWISS MADE on the inner case back, just like the Noob factory 111J but a better finish. What disappointed me is the H-case backs are mineral glass while the 111J is tested sapphire crystal with my diamond tester.

  5. Another option is to build a 14270:

    -Gen 16200 DJ case

    -Gen 24-600 crown/tube

    -Gen 25-295C with cyclops removed

    -Gen 14270 dial

    -Rep Submariner hands

    -ETA 2824-2

    All gen on the exterior...

    Randy,

I thought the 14270 dial only goes with 14000 or 15000 series cases with 19mm lugs, correct me if I am wrong.

P.S. Very nice Explorer and for $250 is a steal!

  6. ETA DW will not line up cos movt is much smaller than the midsize case.

2671 + aftermarket date wheel overlay is good enough to do the job. But those DWs I have seen are of old school styled font with open 6 & 9. (depends on what serial case your getting then it may come out correct) You can of course replace it with a gen 2135 DW by removing the center jewel (on the DW) which is a waste to me.

  7. For 68273/4 cases, an ETA 2671 will work perfect with an adapter ring goes around it, it serves as the date wheel table as well where the DW sits on.

Go on the Bay and find Universo hands that made for 2671 for midsized Rollie, they come in silver or gold, both solid or lumed.

Gen 68000 series dials don't have dial feet, just snap in place as long as you line up date window. Can be reused for gen 2135 when your ready.

  8. They are indeed in GZ, they replicate the names only.

The Kowloon one is much closer to the Bus Station right at the entry of the strip, while Mongkok is way in and is newer.

For watches, go to Kowloon and San Yi. Bands and accessories, go MongKok.

I've tried all sort of transportation to get there, including driving there in a rental car. No parking or real limited parking in front of MongKok, traffic up there is a big mess. It is a ONE WAY road, watch malls at one end and clothing and garment building on the other.

Two of those photos appear to be of markets in Hong Kong.

The Kowloon and the Mongkok ones. Those are prominent areas in the Hong Kong area (Kowloon is across the bay from Hong Kong Island). I stay in the Renaissance Kowloon when I'm in town.

  9. Hi gavidoc,

Glad to know that you come in the area I am in that often. My place named The Greenville is little far from the town ShiQi, about 15 minute drive or 30 min by bus.

Take the coach at Fu Hua Hotel (nice first-class seats), costs you $48RMB, it takes you straight to the provincial station right below the watch market. 2 minute walk. It takes you there in about 1.5 hour, all high-way throughout.

If your gonna take the train at landed at East Station, an extra Taxi fee of $30RMB, if no traffic jam...

Let me know who is coming this way, I can hook up with you guys if my time allows.

So I'm one of the lucky few who goes to China on business on a regular basis and I am even more lucky as I spend majority of my time in Zhongshan and SHenzhen (both of which are about 2.5 hours from Guangzhou by car). My assistant over there drew up these nice directions for me on how to get to the market in Guangzhou from Shenzhen where the high speed train is located. On my last trip, the day I was going to go was the day that the Typhoon hit so I couldn't make it but she told me that the market is actually listed on maps of the area. I took the information that I had gleaned from here and gave her the task of finding them. This is what she found.

    1. From Sheng Zhun LuoHu to Guang Zhou Dong Station, ask the waitress to lead you to the LuoHu railway station for taking the high speed train. Please call me if she can not understand you. When you buy the ticket, you show the #1 attached.

    从罗湖坐和谐号(快速火车) 买深圳 到 广州东 的车票

It will take 1 hour for you to get to GuangZhou Dong railway station. (cost you about RMB90)

    2. From Guang Zhou Dong railway Station to Guang Zhou Watch market (close to the Guang Zhou West railway Station), take a taxi and show the driver the map attached. (watch market in Chinese is: Shou Biao Shi Cang. Watch is Shou Biao, Market is Shi Cang)

  10. Hi dd,

Customs scans and starts digging through luggages when scheduled flights are from "high risk" areas such as China, Thailand...etc for cracks, weapons and replicas. What is your departing city in China? If you fly out from Hong Kong, it would be much safer than straight from Mainland China, just my 2 cents.

I currently moved back to Hong Kong China and am Chinese. Went to GZ several times. Watch prices there are not much different than listed collectors on RWG, figure in the risk of bringing that along with ya. Before my first trip there, I was thinking there must be loaded with our toys and I could hand-pick my likings and QC the hell out of it. I was wrong to da max, at each booth downstairs or office upstairs, they have only one or two of every model for your scrutiny, leave it if they don't meet your standard, move onto the next one...

If your going there for the time being, go after 2'o clock in the afternoon if you wanna shop. There usually NO watches of our kind in the morning or else everything is covered up under cardboard in the show cases. Shops in the area close before 7pm at the latest. So when you see something you like, buy it or you'll miss it forever because you are easily get lost and they switch around things faster than you can think of. Offices upstair have nicer showcases and the nicer ULTIMATE VERSIONS are usually displayed, remember they are not cheap as I thought.

If you scored something, you may consider R&R your "harvest" if you are a Do-It-Yourselfer, at San Yi Watch City, 2nd floor, opposite to the public restroom at the corner, there's a watch maker that'll do the disassembly for you. You can have all the MAILABLE stuff mailed back to your place as parts at the Post Office or EMS Office right down the road from there in stages. Carry TM parts with you, due to the ala carte nature, they will be less likely to notice by Customs.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

  11. Limited applications in our hobby, imho yes...

If every single part is repped 1:1 and interchangable with gen 3135. I can't see why would they care about the rep market applications??? 3135 has been around for 20 years, every year prefix changed and one million pieces produced. Asia alone, over 10 mil pieces of gen around... parts bin need parts...

I have no idea how the 3135 look or how it works but I think that it would not come out very soon.

Like someone said that the cheaper Rolex and many replica watches come with a movement called "Asian21" or "Clone of XXXX" or "AXXXX"

If they really make a Clone3135,where it would be placed in the market.

It even too specific movement which may look strange in other watches.

Okay, if they really make it, what is the price? Will you buy Clone3135 or real ETA-XXXX ?

I am sure that I have no idea about how it work but I would totally go for real ETA-XXXX. Even it is Clone3135, it is Chinese movement. I want a guarantee by the name of ETA. (At least it is Swiss if they really put it in)

On the other hand, if I am a manufacture and I really want to capture marketing (but I do not think they do it), I would just make all the outside perfect and put whatever movement that has accurate beats into watches. No more research, no more investment on block or mold to manufacture new movements.

    What do you think ?

  12. Your one big bugga, bradah!

BTW, I am leaving paradise moving over to ZhongShan in China for my business...

In fact I am there visiting now. Very close to GuangZhou, another paradise for our TOYS!!!

Saw the Graham there in GZ, vendors there wanted over $3000RMB = USD$400! Didn't pick up one, too big for me, I have small wrists.

The town is unreal, packed with everything in the strip, watch, clothing, leather goods (wallets, bags), pens...etc, you name it they have it... But it's dirty like hell...

    Swordfish is nicer IMO. Cheers!

i have the same model as RL .. so i'll give you a side view.. and an arm shot..
