  1. Hi nvlass! Welcome to the fora! There are currently 2 versions of the Planet Ocean rep. 1. The 45mm UPO (Ultimate Planet Ocean) which is the bigger, but more accurate version of the rep or the... 2. 42mm "5th Gen" Planet Ocean. Remember that this is NOT the same thing as the UPO. There is no such thing as a 42mm UPO, it's referred to as 5th gen because it's the 5th generation of replica to come out for this model. This is the one you want to get if you have a smaller wrist like me. The 42mm version is slightly less accurate than the 45mm version but it's not so bad. If you have a big wrist, by all means get the 45mm version. Now... onto the movements. For this particular watch, you will find it in 3 versions. The Asian 21J aka A21J movement which is the cheapest of the 3 and will have a slightly less smooth second hand sweep. Then comes the Asian 2824 aka ETA Clone 2824 which is a clone of a real swiss movement. This is the middle of the range as far as price goes but most people say this is the best way to go.. Finally there is the "Genuine Swiss ETA 2824" movement or "nickle plated 2824 movement" this is supposed to be an official swiss ETA movement but some people say that it's the luck of the draw so if you have money to spend, go with this option, otherwise the Asian clone is a fantastic choice. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Regards MDS P.S. for you I'd recommend the 45mm UPO.
  2. It looks pretty white to me. Maybe I should bleach the dial But seriously, look closely at the lettering in my pics, it's white lettering. Thanks Cobra you as well!! One thing I gotta ask you though. I noticed that the version of this watch with the white numbers seems to have whiter markers. The one we both have seems to have GREENISH markers, what do you think?
  3. Try contacting Mary. She should be able to supply the rep parts for you. watchinternational@gmail.com Good luck! MDS
  4. I didn't see any discussion about this so I thought I'd share. An automatic and digital watch built into one! http://img.timezone.com/img/articles/news631995014590312500/TagHeuerMonaco69.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9yxYuoKKjI
  5. Cobra, I have the new 42mm PO (same as yours) and mine has white writing; no happy feet either. Got it from Mary and highly recommend her.
  6. I'm actually concerned about the crooked markers at 9 and 12... or is it just me? Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  7. The difficult question is keeping me from getting anything at all. I'm looking at two watches right now. Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm 5th Gen with black dial/orange letters SS bracelet Asian Clone 2824 and Tag Aquaracer 500m black dial Asian Clone 2824 Now after reading about the problems of the Omega clasp breaking and trouble finding replacement parts, I'm considering the Tag, but I don't like the fact that the Tag has no AR and that it looks too "sporty" for my tastes. So option 3, I was considering just getting an auto watch from any other brand (Timex, Seiko, Citizen, etc) but here are some of the things which I would really like on it. 1.) Sapphire glass with AR (because it makes the dial "pop" and look expensive) 2.) Deployant/Scissor style clasp (I hate the flimsy metal clasps found on Fossils and Rolexes) 3.) A HIGH BEAT movement. This is a must, I want the beat rate offered in a ETA 2824 because it's butter smooth, I hate the 21J "stop and go" sweep 4.) A display caseback would be nice but I don't mind if its not there. 5.) Lume would be nice but I might be asking for too much. Would anyone have recommendations? I have a small wrist (6 inches) so please recommend accordingly. Also note to mods: I accidentally posted this topic in the wrong forum before sorry about that
  8. Thanks for that! But if I'm mistaken the 6R15 movement is a low-beat (21k) movement which is not what I'm looking for. Any others?

  10. Who has the most accurate version of these? I'd love to see a review
  11. Anyone you can recommend? I go back and forth to India and USA so maybe if the watchsmith could ship internationally. Josh told me it would be 200 dollars for a eta service and 300 for A7750(Chrono) service.
  12. I'm sorry I meant to say 250 for the watch in Swiss 2824 movement, I should have worded that correctly. Are there no trusted dealers which service the watch to you before shipping it to your door? I'd rather not order a watch, send it again and pay a lot of money. Would it be ok to use it out of the box without servicing? BTW Jkay, thanks for the eBay reference Are those clasps still the same type of high quality steel latch ones on the omega or the rolex "thin sheet of metal" type??
  13. That's not an option. Too expensive. I'm already paying 250 for the ETA movement.
  14. @rek001 did "if you see Kay" suggest the jb weld thing? He said above that these can be "modded" to be secure not fixed once broken. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here?
  15. Well those epoxies never work long term. I used jb weld on my snapped glasses bridge before and it broke a week later. I would hate having to be extra careful considering that a lot of my friends will see the watch and be like "omg an omega!!" and snap close the clasp when thry try it on. Also it's a divers watch ain't it? You're supposed to be rough on it. Josh recommended I get the 500m Tag Heuer Aquaracer but it's too sporty and WAY too thick for my taste. This watch is what I really wanted, guess I'll have to go with a Timex auto now
  16. Note to Mods: If this problem gets resolved in my thread, I'd like it stickied in the Omega Section so future buyers will find an easy solution. Thanks
  17. I would also like to know what can be done to mod it
  18. I'm about to pull the trigger and order a 42mm PO from Josh. Orange letters and black bezel. However, I read around some outdated threads that the 42mm PO has issues with the clasp being weak and breaking as well as the bracelet being of poor quality. Does that still hold true?
  19. Dude get rid of that link! We need to keep it on the down low here.
  20. Yeah I say ask for another. The HE Valve is messed up and I do think i see a scratch on the bezel
  21. Yes those are the ones. No good reps? Damn I wouldn't mind quartz but I already own a gen quartz tag and all my other cheaper watches are quartz too. I've NEVER owned an automatic and have always wanted one for the sweep movement :]
  22. I was at Jared Jewelery today and saw an awesome gen. I can't find the picture of it anywhere but the salesman told me it was a seamster aquaterra chrono co-axial. I'd say small dial(40mm?) the dial was WHITE and the subdials were black. Seamaster logo on back. Any chance of finding a good rep? Seconds at 9 and nothing at 12 (so subdials at 3, 6, 9)
  23. I'm a medical student 21 yrs old male. I'm leaving the country on the 18th of this month so I need my watch before then. Right now I'm torn between 1. Omega Planet Ocean 5th gen 42mm black bezel red numbers 2. Tag Heuer Aquaracer 500m black automatic watch. 3. Omega Seamaster Bond
