  1. I haven't followed the industry for years, but I do remember that when Shelby got back into building the Cobras, you could get them in 2 versions. Version 1 was the modern continuation version you speak of. Aluminum body, round tube chassis, etc. Even the serial #s were some sort of continuation of the originals. They cost a fortune. Version 2 was a fiberglass body less original chassis, etc. They were built and priced similar to the other reps. I don't know if he still does them that way, it was probably 10 - 15 years ago. I remember it as very much like the rep watch industry back then. Shelby tried for years, through the courts, to stop the other manufacturers from making their reps. It was only after those efforts were unsuccessful that he started making Cobras again. I remember that the other guys could legally make the cars, they just couldn't officially call them Cobras or sell any of the Cobra badges. You had to go to a 3rd party to get the badges. I also seem to remember that the licensing fee was some sort of compromise. Maybe I'm way off, but that's how I remember things. Then again, they say the memory is the first thing to go.
  2. I still want to build a Cobra some day. I used to read a lot about the various manufacturers. What's really kind of funny is that Carroll Shelby used to be just as [censored] at the replica Cobra industry as Rolex is about the rep watch industry. But Carroll, being a shrewd business man, decided that he would never be able to stop the Replica Cobra industry, so he decided he may as well get in on it too and started to make his own Cobra replicas. I still think Shelby would prefer to put the replica car industry out of business, but as long as it's thriving, he may as well get his piece of the market. Could you imagine if Rolex decided to follow the same logic and start making rep watches?
  3. I think that means it's still on the way to customs. Who did you order from. Josh and Andrew usually take 4 to 5 business days to arrive in Denver (through San Fran customs).
  4. Here in Denver, There is a place called Diamond Cabaret that probably has the best "fakes". You aren't exactly "buying" them, but you sure do put a lot of dollars in the G-strings of the ladies carrying the fakes!!
  5. The 113 looks gen to me. Don't know enough about the other to comment. I'm hardly an expert, but learning fast
  6. Didn't seem like easy targets last year. Did anyone from NU even make a tackle in that game? Couldn't have been many to give up 65 points!! (Never mind Nebraska scored 51) I'm curious. Do you think bring Dr. Tom back will have an impact? I know he's like God around Lincoln, but isn't he like 107 or something like that?
  7. OH MY GOD!!! Look at the horrible finish on that dial...the painted markers are all rough and jagged...In fact, all the printing is just terrible...and, there are a couple of dust particles that are as big as raisins!!! Just kidding. Nice shot of a nice watch. It's what we photo nerds call pixel peeping.
  8. Sorry John, I missed this sentence and just made the same point in the above post.
  9. Yep...and it even makes it easier to pass off a quality rep as gen (if you were so inclined to do so) because people who read crap like that article see a watch that is obviously well put together and has a sweeping second hand, and they think it can't be a fake.
  10. ...and when she cut her leg, gravy ran out.
  11. Oh...You're a Texas fan? I thought you were a cornholer..er..cornhusker fan....and you probably want to forget that Nebraska was 1-9 in 1957!! That's about as relevant as CU's 2006 record, or all time record vs NU. At least Colorado has been to 4 Big 12 Championship games this millennium. How many for NU? Oh yeah... 1. Yeah...But the unfortunate thing is that Nebraska should be out of bowl contention by then!! (Hey, this is fun!! I'm actually much more of a Bronco fan than a Buff fan, but I just couldn't resist a chance to mix it up with a Nebraska fan...My father-in-law was born in Cozad and lives in Omaha. He's a huge NU fan, so I get plenty of abuse from YOU GUYS...But I can dish it out it pretty well too!! )
  12. Yo mam=a so fat you haveta roll over twice to get off her... Yo mama so fat she goes to a restaurant, looks at the menu and says "okay!" Yo mama so fat I had to take a train and two buses just to get on the her good side! Yo mama so fat you have to grease the door frame and hold a twinkie on the other side just to get her through! Yo mama so ugly, yo daddy takes her to work just so he doesn't have to kiss her goodbye!
  13. Yeah...Must suck going from a power house to a laughing stock!! We'll see if the results change...Pretty bad when CU hangs 65 on ya... BTW, I'm sure you know what the "N" on the Nebraska helmet stands for? "Knowledge" And the reason they have artificial turf on their field? To keep the cheerleaders from grazing!! You may have a new coach, but the Buffs had a remarkable recruiting class!! The #1 RB in the country and the #2 linebacker, among others... GO BUFFS!!
  14. Hmmm... I hope the link that Heywood provided (US company fdjtool.com) is selling real Horotec instead of fake. I just payed about $100 ($89 + shipping) for a set. Great deal if they are the real deal...Thanks Heywood.
  15. Excellent Heywood!!! I'm all over this!! Thanks! Mike
  16. This is from a place called Nam Hing Online. For some reason, I couldn't get the URL to this page, so here is a screen shot. They don't call them Horotec in the description, but the picture is Horotec. What do you think?
  17. Excellent news Rob...Glad to hear it!! Rest and heal.
  18. That's about all I've got to say!!
  19. Could the high price be due to the sec @ 3 movement? I don't know, but it is a really nice dress watch and one I'd consider.
  20. It's not a photo effect. It is pretty noticeable. One of the SSD flaws, but it's still an excellent rep IMO. I love mine.
  21. My heart goes out to you and your wife Trip-S. We had to do the same to our cat Tia about a year and a half ago. Tia was my wife's first cat when she left her mom's house at 18. She was suffering from kidney failure. It was extremely hard on my wife, and it wasn't much fun for me either. Hang in there and take care, Mike
  22. HA...I just got a text from my brother who recently moved from Seattle to Corona Del Mar that said he just experienced his first earthquake while on the toilet... ...and my reply? Naturally, "Well if it scared the crap out of you, at least you were in the right place!!" He said it felt like the house was coming down.
  23. Damn!! That doesn't look like much fun!! I hope it heals well for you.
